Rave If You Think Money Spent on Bombs and Bullets Should Be Spent On Food, Shelter, and Education For The Poor.

If they require education, food, or shelter- then they're poor.

Then I guess we're all poor.

Not being educated is not the reason most folks are on the streets.

No, but it can be a reason for not having employment or employment that provides adequate income. To be a manager at McDonald's requires a business administration diploma at least if not 15 years experience. Have you tried living on minimum wage? Not easy. $10.50 an hour, 38-40 hours a week, plus tax deductions, pension deductions which amount to roughly 20% of each paycheck, your net pay then becomes 1277 - 1344. Rent in my area for a 1 bedroom is between $680 to $720 a month, the higher end including heat and hydro. Pay rent and you're left with between $557 - 624 for groceries, car payments, insurance payments, gas. Car insurance can be between $200-400 a month. Take that away and with consideration to the current price of gas you're looking at about $150 to spend on groceries, toiletries, and hygiene products a month which just barely cuts it. So I hope if you need a prescription for a bought of tonsilitis or pneumonia you have insurance through work to cover the cost of the medication or you have to chose between treating the infection or going to the food bank. If you have any additional habits, cigarettes, drinking, gambling, ect, you'll end up in deeper trouble financially.

Not having enough money leads to lack of food and homelessness. If you can't pay rent, you get evicted. If you're evicted and on the street, you lose everything including the ability to cook your own meals.

So while it isn't the only reason, it is one possibility.

just saw recently a documentary movie lately, during the 2nd world war, USA didnt hestiate to drop the bombs because they didnt want to waste the money that has been spend on the making of the bombs.... such bs

You know it's silly to put a poll to try gulag feelings on an issue and you don't offer but one viewpoint but that being said, yes w should deemphasize the military spending and put tat money especially into education. We should not just give people money and housing, they should be put to work even if that work means going to the local community college and passing their courses.

I DO remember Bruno Samartino had a major crush on my Mom in the late 60s hanging out at the Isaly's in Mt. Washington- (Pittsburgh).
Definitively a regional thing.

Gorgeous George I only remember reading about him as he was way before my time and Bruno Samartino I think I saw him only once when he car to L.A. To wrestle I forget who he wrestled but he rarely came to the west coast because was mostly a New York phenomenon. (-:

and he was an Irish immigrant whose father was the head of the Irish mafia in Pittsburgh- and was "lace curtain" Irish- a landowner and robber baron in the olde country- who had a manicure and lost his fortune burying WWII vets for free in his 5 funeral parlors. He was one of the first millionaires here- when that meant something- and was a famous arbiter between management and labor and a pro-union guy that no one could figure out! His heart was bigger than his (financial ) brain- my uncle- latched onto some of his residual money and is the reincarnation of the evil capitalist today-
