2 wars, both being a massive waste of money, definitely reeked havoc on the country. We invaded 2 countries, destroyed everything in sight, didn't make any head-way in either place, killed innocent people, lost hundreds of our own, and turned an entire region against us, at a cost of something like more than $1 trillion. It has been a complete disaster in every sense, and the money could have gone to fixing our country, which already had signs of being broken before we invaded.

History has shown over and over again that when a country disarms to help it's downtrodden, relaxes it's morals to except all but the worst behavior and preaches a live and let live philosophy,..

it falls.

All things in Moderation please - keep some bombs and bullets available to keep the barbs at bay.

It has always made me laugh, we spend so much on weapons that hurt and kill people,but yet we do not spend that money helping people, but we have to have a deterrent.

I agree with none of this because in many situations bombs and bullets are the way we stay free and defend our country.If we went by your suggestion the people would be plenty fed but we would also be bowing to some dictator and does the saying "It's better to die on your feet than live on your knees" mean anything?It's just a difference in opinion I mean no disrespect to you or people that feel different.

I was looking for the "none of the above" option. It is not the job of the government to feed or clothe the poor. Bombs and bullets are necessary for national defense, and while we do need to stop unnecessary wars and scale back, that money saved should not go to other programs, but instead should go back to the taxpayers in the form of lower tax rates.

Well we sure don't need to spend a trillion dollars a year for defense. My God we spend more money then all the countries in the world collectivleWilly! Do we need 5000 nuclear bombs. Can we just destroy our planet with1500, or 300?? The Republicans think these numbers aren't enough. The old Soviet Union destroyed it self with a defense budget that got so big the government collapsed under the weight of this huge mamoth of a budget. will we do the same?? Probably, with the hundreds of lobbyist in congress for the defense contractors!! We have to quit this insanity of spending for the defense.

It did put people to work, but every economist I read said it wasn't enough, and you have to admit it was just a pittance. over a 1/3 went for tax cuts, which helps but does not put people to work immediatly. So Less than 2/3 of the 800 billion went for projects to put people to work.

I will be watching and listening to the upcoming presidential debates intently. I could save the Romney campaign lots of money by just comparing what Obama said in 2008 to what he has done as president.

I've have already seen the flip flops old Robnme have done. There are hundreds of them. If the Democrats knew how to run a campaign they would use these flip flops in their commercials, but in past campaigns they usually don't have clue.
