There are 30,000 gun deaths compared to 312,000,000 people in America. Over half of them are suicides. There are over 50,000 deaths from car accidents, should we do something about car accidents? I think we need to lock up the criminals who commit these crimes and execute murderers, not take away guns.

That is so RIDICULOUS! Violence in America is going to happen whether or not you get stricter/take away the guns. Some people are just evil heated and what to spread as much misery as possible while ruining as many lives as possible with violence. There weapon of choice is different in any situation. This world isnt a soft and cuddly place and the sooner people wake up and realize that the sooner this whole "Gun Violence" issues will come to an end!

There should be a gun grab from all the violent and mentally unstable people in this country. NOT the law abiding good people of this great nation. Thank God for 2nd amendment.

Have you ever noticed that the ones making the most noise about controlling our guns are the ones who have armed body guards? They want them exempt from all gun control laws.

Once you declare your a liberial, it should be illegal for you to own a gun. That would solve 90% of the violence problems in America. The other 10% would go way naturally.

They should give a simple IQ test and if you score below 70 and the means you are a RWNJ that shouldn't be able to own ANY weapons. And they should issue you a safety helmet. lol

Some say that, it also means that bullets are flying towards the people behind the shooter, and the room behind that, until they hit something hard.
Also, if you had a knife, committing massacres would be far harder, and the thugs less brave, because people can fight back.

The problem is the home owner will have the knife and the thug will have the gun they dont really care about the law.

Oh you are a dreamer! Would love to say yes but even with this event I'm not sure we can get there and I worry that this fight might distract us all from fights we might win such as immigration reform, tax reform, voting rights, etc.... Nothing galvanizes the right as much as the fear of loosing the right to defend themselves from a Zombie invasions.

It way PAST time! We regulate our highways without violating the Constitution, THAT saves lives! We can regulate guns (within reason), without violating it! What is out there NOW is NOT a "well regulated militia", it's Dodge City / 1860! Hmmmm, seems to me that period didn't have a very "safe" reputation....and about EVERYONE carried a gun!

There needs to be a "No" option. Stuff has already been done about gun violence. Strict gun laws are in place around he country. Criminals and people who really want guns will always be able to have them because there is a black market for them. I used to work in a gun store and if you have a criminal record involving violence, you legally cannot purchase a firearm. If you can not buy a firearm for this reason, you can not own a firearm, and if you can't own a firearm, then if you are found in possession of one, you go to prison. Anyway, the Constitution says that we have the right to bear arms and that this right can not be infringed upon. We can't do much about it. About the best thing to do would be to put guns in the hands of every American that can handle it and let concealed carry citizens stop gun related crimes, like the guy who stopped the shooting in Oregon at that mall.

The new gun safes have a fingerprint lock which opens almost instantly when a authorized person touches it, no more fumbling a combo lock in a hurry the weapons are safely stored and quickly accessable when needed, these will save lives and should be tax deductible , this is the legislation we need, gun protection not control.
The fact is that the proposed law prohibits the sale of magazines larger than 10 rounds however not possession of the mags, many of these mags were legally modified by wire welding them together The law is a waste of time and effort it will have no effect on crime. And it would be difficult to know when a mag was welded if they pass a law prohibiting modification of magazines. Fact is a box of 100 20 round weldable steel mags 7.62 x 51mm NATO sells for around $100 or .50 apiece. There are many millions of these mags out there.it is too late to try to ban them. Ar-15 come stock with 20 rounders which can be plastic welded to 30 ,, AK-47 are 30 rounds factory steel welded are 50 rounds etc..,Aluminum alloy mags can be heli arc welded etc...

I am waiting for the government to disarm. I don't mind the police, sheriffs, state police, FBI, and military to be armed but why does the Dept of Ag need arms? Dept of Treasury? Dept of Ed? Dept of Labor? Dept of Interior? There are a lot of war lords out there, all armed.
Government: Show us by your example that we don't need weapons. Governments: stop killing your own people. Democide, the killing of citizens by their own government, is reponsible for more deaths than all the citizen-owned firearms. By far.

There are some people who can be trusted to own guns--they could and should be licensed to do so. This is what a "well-regulated militia" is supposed to be about.

Look around a typical shop or workplace....how many people do you know who you'd be comfortable knowing they were packing a gun? Untrained, unlicensed, maybe a heavy drinker? The status quo of unregulated ownership of guns is insane.

We need to quit doing things to take them away from honest law abiding citizens and make it less of a crime for people to defend themselves. They keep giving the criminal more and more rights, when if it was made so that its legal and right to defend yourself, and illegal to attack or to steal then this would lessen. We also need to stop being so lenient on criminals and send the damned illegals home instead of giving them more rights than citizens. I have an idea, someone wants to be a killer and walk the streets, fine send em over to the middle east, show them pictures of the as quida and have them go kill those guys. Bringing back the state mental institutions would also help. Do you think those 26 would have died in Newtown if the shooter was locked up in Norwich State where he belonged? Or if even a handful of the teachers were carrying?

This is the reason why many are armed. There are far too many guns in circulation that the only way of removing them is by going door-to-door and taking them away. That, my friend, is tyranny. My solution is to be armed in order to protect myself from violent offenders. I'm not going to go on a shooting rampage. Except when it's in video games.

Gun owners need to be responsible! The last things I would have in my home would be an aresnal of weapons if I had kid with the mental state of the Ct shooter! You can have a person committed! I was raised around guns, was taught to respect guns and knew the consequence if i even looked at a gun!

American hunters constitute the world's largest well-regulated militia.

In regard to having an arsenal in the home with a child wih the mental status of the Connecticut shooter, the mother broke the laws by allowing the guns to be accessible to anyone but herself. The guns weren't the problem here, her failure to follow the law of WHICH SHE WAS WELL AWARE OF is the problem. Once again, breaking the law resulted in needless deaths. More laws aren't the answer as only law-abiding citizens obey the laws. This woman was neither responsibile nor law-abiding evidenced by her son't access to the guns. They should have been locked in a secure gun safe of which he could not gain access.

I think it is time to find out why the overwhelming majority gun crimes happen in Liberal cities, the top 25 most violent/dangerous cities in America are all Liberal.

Is it because Liberals are morally bankrupt or are they suffering from a legitmate mental disease?

Lets look at the top 5 most violent cities:

    1. Flint, Mich.
    2. Detroit, Mich.
    3. St. Louis, Mo.
    4. Oakland, Calif.
    5. Memphis, Tenn.

All Liberal, all voted Obama and all have a Liberal government.

You would think Liberals who constantly talk about gun crime, would gladly give up their guns. Since Liberals *are the problem*.

Those cities have rampant gang violence. Gangs are an apolitical group. It's not like these thugs joined up to get Obama elected as if it were a reenactment of JFK and the Mafia.

I highly doubt any of these gangs are out fighting to increase taxes on the rich and for same sex marriage.

There is no excuse for all the killing that goes on in this country. None. Every other 1st & 2nd world country and even some 3rd world countries do a better job at it than we do. We've either got to do what we all know we need to do in order to achieve gun safety or admit that we've decided that we like living in a place where life is cheap.

Are you mentally retarded or just ignorant? For a different view on your response, why don't you go and ask anyone who lives in the third world wasteland that is Darfur in south Sudan about the GENOCIDE that is going on there. America has the strictest gun laws in the word. We also have the largest black market for guns in the world. And life ain't cheap. More people have died this year in third world countries due to genocide and civil wars, which are both gun violence, than have died in the past ten years due to gun violence in America. Next time you go to post a response, do some research so you don't sound like a grade a moron.
