Do you think the writings of John Locke to be extreme?

....not sure what a author from 350+ years back has anything to do with this topic.

He's the grandfather of the Declaration of Independence. He was run exiled from his country because of his writings. --I'm trying to get a gauge of what you consider extreme or unreasonable.

Not so sure about bestowing such a title on one man and the topic is conservatives, as in...today. Equal rights and freedoms are always a hot topic but never extreme. Locke wasn't extreme or narrow minded, like of most that time. He was the odd man out and when one strays from the pack there are always consequences.

So, if I were to hold to Lockean ideals today, you wouldn't consider me extreme?

Whether you are extreme or not in your beliefs is really not my business, that is the bed you make and have to sleep in. However, I do think you're probably one of the very few who I can debate with, that hasn't turned it into an arguement. =)

It's not about taking a stand, it's about nasty hate speech. People who claim to be a Christian and have horrible potty mouths.

I agree that there's nothing worse than angry responses. I also know that everybody sometime does something which they come to regret. I also know how frustrating it is to have a discourse with someone who continually calls you names. The best choice is to simply walk away.

To be honest, when your religion states that everyone, literally all peoples, who do not and did not follow your God, and all of his laws, will burn in hell for eternity(a translation error inspired by Dante) it is not hate that fuels your venom(before my conversion at least it wasn't for me) it really is compassion, misguided and belligerent compassion. Most of them don't want any of us to burn in their hell, so they preach and yell.

Well I don't care if they are liberal or conservative, send them down the street I don't need their preaching, they are man/woman and all are filled with sin just like everyone else so they need to mind their own business.

The Concept of original sin is a circular argument, so Christians can state that they are better than others w/o having to show any proof.

What makes this post interesting is it is not very often you get a post like this from the left. Get them all the time from the right side but not too often from the left side.

You get them all the time, from both sides. Go to Reddit if you want a good smashing of this kind of thinking. You need to read my QUESTION more closely. It was not a comment, only a matter of curiosity.

I read it, my answer was that I don't need to be American to identify this poll as pointless. I want to know why you would think being from Australia should mean this poll shouldn't matter to me?

Curious as to how our politics would matter to you. My friends from New Zealand, GB and Canada could careless for our joke of politics.

We are getting very off topic, anyhoo.

Its interesting to me because I see allot of what change gets driven into western culture as being primarily driven by America. Our politics in Australia involve mandatory voting, so regardless of what a party stands for at least 50% of the voting population here don't know enough to make informed decisions...so I would rather debate with people who care on a site like this then get lost in the myriad of useless discussions about the pointless issues being focused on in Australian politics.

We face the same fundamental issues, so I still get allot of value from hearing people's thoughts from the other side of the world :)

That and having an opinion formulated into a well constructed argument is one of the best ways to stimulate thought.

But regardless we are talking about politics now and this poll is not about that at all.

I have worked Coast to Coast her in the US several time over the years. I have seen the ghettos of NYC, LA and I have seen trailer trash in North Idaho to Florida. They are all the same people not matter what the color. These are people who draw off the system no matter who they vote for. Just because one votes blue or red does not justify them living off the hard work of others.

As for this poll it is no different the the hundreds like it that blame Obama.

Won't happen Partner. These people are cowards in real life and lions on line. I just take popshots at them to keep them pissed off. In real life most of them (both side) don't have the sand in their shorts to make a good fight. Soooooo once again, I just take pop shots at them to keep them pissed off.

Go read the conservative polls who Hate Obama. They are much worse and very prolific. Che is just mocking a small tid bit of the whole.

I would expect people to be on those polls making similar comments as I am here then. Same argument as I had with LOU above. Just because they do it doesn't make this ok, it just makes them both wrong.

But to answer the question, not all people who call themselves Christians are hateful,but Christianity does carry a dark cloud over it's name.
