Obama is really looking forward to the debates--regardless of whether or not you support one or the other, it is undeniable that Obama is a great public speaker and Romney has an amazing tendency to make unscripted gaffes when he is taken off script (ex. $10,000 bet, illegal workers, 47%, etc.).

In terms of a fight, this debate is going to be the political equivalent of clubbing baby seals or helicopter hunting.

Look at any of Obama's unscripted speaking engagements, or even just at his 2008 debates against McCain (no teleprompter) in order to see him debate. Even if you support the Republicans, it is inarguable that Obama is a far better speaker.

I agree kim. Last time Obama debated with Mccain, he did lots of stuttering and da da da da da and it it it it it...he gets very nervous. Mitt needs to catch him in a lie.....Obama will come across as angry and he will start his swaying back and forth. I hope Obama goes down!!

While Obama seriously phoned that debate in, Romney still lost the debate in my eyes--on substance, Romney either lied about his views (ex. regulation), or proposed absolutely unrealistic policies that he could never implement (ex. his tax cut program).

It is easy to debate if you completely and shamelessly disconnect yourself from the facts enough that you create your own imagined reality.

Romney was winning debates against mental midgets, Gingrich (who is the most unlikable man on earth), and Ron Paul (who was largely ignored); the debates with Obama are equivalent to going from T-Ball to the major leagues within one baseball season.

Both Gingrich and Paul have Ph. D's......but nice try. And Obama has to defend his failed record on that stage, he can't hide behind commercials and surrogates telling lies. Obama's in a very weak position. And to use your analogy, Obama might be in the major leagues, but he's the team captain of the Chicago Cubs. LOL!

Read my comment a little slower: I say that Gingrich and Paul were the only intelligible people at the debates, but they also have qualities that make them have a handicap that Romney exploited. Regardless of whether or not you like Obama, you must admit that he is talented at public speaking and will likely outperform Romney.

The shear number of self-inflicted wounds Romney has given himself while speaking supports my contention and in several weeks, you will see that I am right.

I read it right the first time, you called them mental midgets, you never said they were the only intelligible people.

I'll give you this, Obama is a good "scripted" speaker. But when you get him off script (like in a debate) he sounds like a bumbling idiot, that's also when the real Obama comes out and the marxist starts to speak.

Just like when he said "you didn't build that," or when he said "he believes in redistribution of wealth" and "it's good to spread the wealth around" or when he said "under my cap and trade plan, energy costs would necessarily skyrocket." These are just some examples of when Obama goes off script. This is why his handlers like him in front of a teleprompter, then they can just script his lies for him and make sure the media plays along with those lies.
  • joshua.... Mr. Smith 2012/09/24 03:46:20
    joshua.sager.9
Obama is a centrist, if not a little right of center, and there is no Marxist in him--You couldn't point to a single Marxist policy that Obama has enacted in his entire presidential term. In addition to this, I suggest that you look at his exemplary performances in the 2008 debates to see how he fairs without a teleprompter--just like most politicians, Obama is mostly full of empty promises, but he sells it very well (as opposed to Romney, who promotes idiotic policies and essentially lives with both of his feet shoved down his own throat).

From a factual perspective, the "you didn't build that" and redistribution of wealth comments are a matter of basic governance; two of the major purposes of the government are to create an infrastructure in order to facilitate commerce/transportation (the thing that businessmen rely on but didn't build cited in the comment) and to redistribute wealth (all taxes are redistribution of some sort). Anybody to reject these premises simply doesn't understand political theory or is trying to trick somebody who doesn't understand political theory.

Obama's policies are not right of center, he is a Fabian Socialist who uses corporatism (soft-fascism) to implement his policies. This is where people get confused about where he stands, whether he's a leftist or a moderate. Obamacare is a perfect example of corporatist policy designed to eventually deliver socialized medicine. Now don't get confused here, I'm not saying Obamacare IS socialized medicine, far from it. But Obamacare is not the end goal for Obama, single-payer healthcare is, Obamacare is just phase 1, it lays the tracks for single-payer. When Obamacare fails, then the plan is to go to Phase 2, which IS socialized medicine.

And fascism is not a right-wing ideology, it too is part of modern day liberalism/progressivism, it's a pillar of the left, always has been, starting with Mussolini and Hitler. What probably confuses most people is the fact that both major political parties use corporatism very heavily, perhaps for different goals, but both indeed use it/abuse it.

I watched every debate in 2008, Obama did much better in front of a teleprompter, but then again, he was going up against McCain - now he IS a mental midget and his style was not as polished as Obama's. Obama also had no record to run on in 2008, that's the big game changer with this election....

I watched every debate in 2008, Obama did much better in front of a teleprompter, but then again, he was going up against McCain - now he IS a mental midget and his style was not as polished as Obama's. Obama also had no record to run on in 2008, that's the big game changer with this election. Obama will have to defend the past 4 years, along with all the broken promises. And in doing so, he will also have to remember all the lies he's told over the past 4 years. That's a very tough road to plow since there are so many land mines to step on in that regard. But I have complete confidence that our liberal media will help him get through it all, with very little criticism, just like 2008.

But here's where you need a lesson in history and our founding principles. Your comment that one of the major purposes of government is "to redistribute wealth" is totally wrong. That was NOT a founding principle or purpose of government, whoever told you that is lying. Our founding fathers and several subsequent leaders have expressed great opposition to the idea of redistribution of wealth.

James Madison, who wrote the Constitution, said, "I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents."

Of course, we have strayed far from our founding principles, ever since Woodrow Wilson gave us the Federal Reserve and the progressive income tax, we've had redistribution of wealth. And it's only gotten worse. It's a leftist ideology, also called leveling, and it flies in opposition to our constitution and our founding principles. You're correct in the fact that we use it, but it's certainly NOT a major purpose of government.

And I'm not talking about taxes going towards infrastructure, commerce, or the general welfare, those things benefit everyone indirectly. Redistribution of wealth, by definition, directly benefits a particular class of people by taking from another class......or in many cases, a particular sub-group, crony or otherwise. That's taking from the wealthy class and giving to the poor or less fortunate class. Corporate welfare is another example.

Or in stronger terms, when someone takes my money and gives me no say in the matter and doesn't benefit me in any way, that’s called theft - whether they’re using a gun or the government.

At the core of this ideology is envy. And that’s not the same as jealousy. Jealousy just says, “I want what you have.” Envy is different. Envy says, “I don’t think I can ever have what you have, so you shouldn’t have it either.” Decades of horrible economic teaching and the politics of envy have kept this idea alive and growing and moving forward.

I agree that Paul is honest, but his economic policies would be absolutely disastrous--a return to the gold standard would cause catastrophic deflation and would destroy the world economy; massive deregulation would lead to the exploitation of workers and the destruction of the environment.

The damage done to the economy by Bush couldn't have been fixed in four years, even if the Republicans hadn't done everything in their power to obstruct and sabotage recovery attempts.

I have no doubt that I won't change conservatives' minds on the issues, but this has nothing to do with me lacking a rational argument and everything to do with most conservatives lacking a mind to change.

Thank you for proving my point :)

P.S. you might want to read you own comment a little harder, as you are admitting that you don't have a mind to change (IE: you are dumb) and saying that this is my fault for not telling you about Obama's achievements.

P.P.S. Obama's achievements include: ending the Iraq war, passing the healthcare law, promoting gay rights (ending DADT and disregarding DOMA), promoting women's rights (Lilly Ledbetter, contraception coverage, etc.), and steering us out of the Bush depression.
