its important to note that just last week Obama was ahead by 5 points and they keep swapping back and forth, if you are going to base a whole campaign on one weeks opinions then you may find yourself very shocked at the end of it all.

For those that believe the Rasmussen reports polls, I'd like to remind you of what that polling organization was saying on September 15 - 17, 2008, exactly four years ago.
Rasmussen reports had the Obama - McCain race at a TIE. That was the election where President Obama beat John McCain by 9,522,083 votes, and by 365 electoral votes to 173 votes.

The Gallup poll of September 15 - 17 2008 had Obama winning by 4%.
The Hotline/FD Tracking poll of September 15 - 17 had Obama winning by 4%.
The CNN/Opinion Research poll of September 19 -21 had Obama winning by 4%.
The CBS News/NY Times poll of September 12 - 16 had Obama winning by 5%.
The Quinnipiac University poll of September 11 - 16 had Obama winning by 4%.
Proof of the fact that President Obama is winning is that Willard Mitt Romney, is changing his plan once again.
When the debates come around, Romney will be so mixed up he won't know what his daily changing ethics and plans are anymore!

The Executive Orders in the low 11,000 range that you listed were issued by President John Kennedy, issuing Executive Orders numbers 10,914 through 11,127.
Executive Order 11,310 was issued on October 11th, 1966 by President Johnson, and that Executive Order was revoked by EO 11,490 on October 28th, 1969 by President Nixon.

EDIT: Although the OP's link shows Obama with the 49%-47% lead on October 5, third party sources indicate that Romney DID, in fact, hold a 2% lead on September 17, the date of the original post. Although that lead had since evaporated. the original post WAS accurate on that date. As a result, I apologize and my criticism is retracted.

As it stands now, Obama is still a pretty big favorite at -300 (1/3) to win a second term in office where as Romney still has a lot of ground to make up as indicated by his 240 (12/5) odds.
The next debate is slated for Tuesday, October 16th at approximately 9pm EST which will then be followed up by another debate on Monday, October 22nd. And, it may also be of interest to hear GOP VP nom Paul Ryan go head-to-head with Vice-President Biden on Thursday, October 11th in a debate which is supposed to cover foreign and domestic policies among other issues.

That said....to me the most telling statistic is support for Romney in Massachusetts and Michigan.
It is also interesting to read the Rasmussen poll....the text essentially says either candidate could win.....this is important because Rasmussen touts his accuracy and is known for supporting Republican candidates. If you read the poll for today, 9/17/2012, you will realize that Rasmussen can claim accuracy regardless of which candidate wins in November.
