Racism on SodaHead

The Thinking Woman 2012/03/07 07:57:52
It is time to stop the racism, one step at a time and it begins HERE and it starts NOW.
All over this site people are complaining about how many days Michelle Obama has been on vacation, how many days President Obama has been on vacation. ENOUGH!

Did anyone complain about how many days Bush spent on vacation. Did they care how many days Laura Bush was on her lavish vacations? No, you never once heard them complain.

It is time to call it what it is. RACISM. Birthers are nothing but racist. These good christain conservatives posting all over about these vacations are RACIST. We need to call them out, expose them for the hate mongers they are. We need to stand up for what civil rights people fought so hard for and legally gained. It is time now.

If they want to post about Obama's vacations, where were their voices when this happened?

Then why didn't they question this?

During 2 terms as President, Bush
spent all or of part of 487 days at Camp David, on retreats and made 77
trips to his Crawford Ranch, in Texas, where he spent all or part of 490
days, on his Ranch.
The total number of days of vacation or retreat
President Bush took, while in office over a period of 8 years was 977
days, or 32% of his total time in office, was spent on vacations or
retreats.

Laura Bush and four female friends have escaped
together for a week every summer. They arrived at Mammoth Lakes on July
8, 2001 and a day later came to Tuolumne Meadows Lodge with an entourage
of some 25 people, including Secret Service agents, a White House
communications team, various aides and several park officials. The group
took up about 15 of the 70 cabins at the site.

July 27, 2003
Laura Bush and all her friends arrived at Lake Crescent Lodge in
Washington State for a week long vacation in the Olympic National
Forest. "I have a group of friends that I grew up with in Midland,
Texas, and we hike every summer at a national park," said Mrs. Bush.
Yes, she and her friends arrived on Air Force II with lots of Secret
Service Agents.

July 23, 2006 Denali National Park & Preserve in Alaska

First
Lady Laura Bush arrived in the park by train on July 23rd for a
one-week vacation at a private inholder lodge in the Kantishna area.
Members of the park staff assisted Secret Service and White House
personnel with communications, security and logistics. A small number of
rangers from other parks in the region were detailed to Denali to
maintain normal operations so that a portion of the parks law
enforcement staff could be assigned full-time to augment and assist the
Secret Service details. During the week. Mrs. Bush and a small group of
friends enjoyed daily hiking excursions throughout the park. On Friday,
July 28th, she and her companions traveled to park headquarters to tour
the Murie Science and Learning Center, a collaborative venture by
Denali, seven other national parks, and several park partners. She later
attended a luncheon hosted at the center and greeted park staff and the
regional director. [Submitted by Richard Moore, North District Ranger]
This
is the second time in the last couple-three months that LaWa has taken
advantage of a western national park for a little "getaway with close
friends" whose number, names, relationships, and particularly gender is
somehow never mentioned.

In June 2008, First Lady Laura Bush
visited Mount Desert Island, Maine with a small group of friends for a
brief vacation. She did not plan any public appearances before she
arrived, but she was out in the public eye during her visit and met with
Acadia National Park superintendent Sheridan Steele.

Laura Bush
and her daughters, Barbara and Jenna, traveled to Africa in 2007, where
they went on safari. Yet her trip was regarded as an "official" visit
and included several public events.

And yet you say you are not racist. YOU ARE RACIST! You never questioned Bush now did you?
You!

Why is that racism ? When people complained about Bush vacations, was it racism ? Is it only racism if they complain about the Obama vacations ? What BS ! Seems the Liberals believe that anyone who complains about the Obama's in any form is a racist.

Nothing to do with racism!! In case you didn't know there's currently a law suit against the air force for misuse of planes by Mrs Obama. Bush going to camp David, or his Texas ranch is not the same!! Those two trips cost tax payers next to nothing...Versus the Obamas Hawaii, Aspen, Spain etc ...using two separate planes one for him and one for her loaded with personal friends! Nowhere is it written that the tax payers of the USA are obligated to pay for any president or his wife or 200 of their closest friends to go on vacation...

It's not the amount of days, It's What it's costing the tax payers. With That being said, Obama also wanted to clamp down on travel abuses in the US government, but yet again it only applies to "everyone else" and not him. For someone who always is preaching his "green agenda" He has no problem or hesitation fueling up multiple planes and heading off....for a vacation with his family And 200 of their closest friends. I'm a tax payer...I didn't get any invites on any trips...

My parents used to embarrass me, they thought they were so enlightened and said such prejudicial things. It took me a couple of years to realize it was due to institutionalized racism in the society they grew up in, and they were blind to it.
This was in 1963 when I was 10. I realized there was still a lot there, so I probably was too, and just as blind. I told my black friends not to let it slide, but take me to task and tell me why or I couldn't see it or change it.

Clearly, you were not on SH when Pres. Bush was still in office. He was crucified for the amount of vacations he took. You are really grasping at straws trying to say that it's racist to be looking into the current First Family's vacation records. You need to realize that every time you try to attach racism to something so irrelevant to racism, it waters down the true meaning of what it means to be racist. No one even cares about that term anymore - and that's a SHAME! Because it is a vile state of mind to be racist. But it's people like you that throw that term around for every little thing that makes it lose it's meaning.

Any sensible person knows a president on vacation is informed on matters daily. This is not 1800, we live in the 21st century with instanteous communications. Tell Rosa to give up her seat on the bus is racist, saying the president takes too many vacations is not.

Any visit that is not official and purely vacation is paid for by the president or for his family. Transportation and protection is always taxpayer provided for all presidents, and Bush sure took advantage of that with his runs to Crawford. He conned the system with his "official" Crawford visits more than this president has or will. How many times has the president been to his home in Chicago? Much of the hate spewed on this site is from racists. The primary word is "Much".

The entire vacation brouhaha is a tempest in a teapot. Such ridiculous criticism reflects the desperation of Obama opponents. Such critics ("haters"?) may be frustrated Birthers, eager to pelt the POTUS with whatever imaginary offenses they can find. Next they may criticize him for pronouncing "often" with or without the "t" sound.

The United States has a sordid history double standards for minorities, above and beyond the standards demanded of more favored citizens. This was a common tactic in our history of repression:

To former abolitionists and to the Radical Republicans in Congress who fashioned Reconstruction after the Civil War, the 15th amendment, enacted in 1870, appeared to signify the fulfillment of all promises to African Americans. Set free by the 13th amendment, with citizenship guaranteed by the 14th amendment, black males were given the vote by the 15th amendment. From that point on, the freedmen were generally expected to fend for themselves. In retrospect, it can be seen that the 15th amendment was in reality only the beginning of a struggle for equality that would continue for more than a century before African Americans could begin to participate fully in American public and civic life.

In retrospect, it can be seen that the 15th amendment was in reality only the beginning of a struggle for equality that would continue for more than a century before African Americans could begin to participate fully in American public and civic life.

African Americans exercised the franchise and held office in many Southern states through the 1880s, but in the early 1890s, steps were taken to ensure subsequent “white supremacy.” Literacy tests for the vote, “grandfather clauses” excluding from the franchise all whose ancestors had not voted in the 1860s, and other devices to disenfranchise African Americans were written into the constitutions of former Confederate states. Social and economic segregation were added to black America’s loss of political power. In 1896 the Supreme Court decision Plessy v. Ferguson legalized “separate but equal” facilities for the races. For more than 50 years, the overwhelming majority of African American citizens were reduced to second-class citizenship under the “Jim Crow” segregation system. During that time, African Americans sought to secure their rights and improve their position through organizations such as National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and the National Urban League and through the individual efforts of reformers like Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. DuBois, and A. Philip Randolph.

(Information excerpted from Milestone Documents [Washington, DC: The National Archives and Records Administration, 1995] pp. 61-63.)
    [END QUOTE]
    http://www.usnews.com/usnews/...

Details of these political barriers are widely available. For example:

"From 1890 to 1908, ten of the eleven former Confederate states completed political suppression by ratifying new constitutions or amendments which incorporated provisions to disfranchise blacks and poor whites. These included such methods as a poll tax, record keeping, timing of registration in relation to elections, felony disenfranchisement focusing on crimes thought to be committed by African Americans,[19] complex residency requirements, and a literacy test. Focusing on both blacks and poor whites ensured that there would be no coalition between them as had arisen in the elections of 1894, when Populist-Republican tickets wrested power away from Democrats. Prospective voters had to prove the ability to read and write the English language to white voter registrars, who in practice used subjective requirements. Blacks were often denied the right to vote on this basis. Even literate blacks were often told they had "failed" such a test, if in fact, it had been administered. On the other hand, illiterate whites were sometimes allowed to vote through a "grandfather clause" which waived literacy requirements if one's grandfather had been a qualified voter before 1866, or had served as a soldier, or was from a foreign country. As most blacks had grandfathers who were slaves before 1866, they could not use the grandfather clause exemption. Selective enforcement of the poll tax was frequently also used to disqualify black and poor white voters."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

The "Birther" campaign is reminiscent of these double standards, wherein minorities had to meet standards that did not apply to majority group members. The FACT that his short form was accurate and legally sufficient was ignored by those spreading Birther propaganda. The FACT that most Republicans doubted his short form, although it constituted irrefutable evidence according to Federal standards, illustrates the power of the Conservative Disinformation Network. (see http://kaleokualoha2878577.ne...

The FACT that he met federal BC standards for Natural Born Citizens, yet Birthers are still in complete denial, indicates that his origin is not the underlying issue. The FACT that Birthers continue to grasp at such straws (despite unequivocal confirmation of Obama's Natural Born Citizen status by the State of Hawaii), in conjunction with the FACT that political double standards have historically been imposed on minority group members to suppress their political aspirations in America, strongly suggests that Birthers (and other critics) may have ulterior motives and a hidden agenda.

The planned three-day stay, during which the president is being joined by family and former and current aides, will bring his total time spent at Camp David to all or part of 487 days." [1]

You forgot to explain What racism has to do with all those vacations. Race has nothing to do with them taking so many vacations and spending too much money. As for racism That is the kind of world we live in. When people look different, talk different, ARE different, you are going to have racism plain and simple. It is called human nature. Humanity without Christ.

I am sure some people are racist. But why is your opinion based on people critisism of this president? I dont like him or his policies but I am not racist at all. Not one bone in my body. His skin color has no effect on why I dont like him. I dont agree with the policies of the party he leads. I dont like his arrogant and uncooperative ways. I dont like his stance on certain policies. I dont like his lack of leadership and his dividing this nation and its people. He wants you to think people dont like him because he is black and maybe some dont but to say anyone and every one who disagrees with him because he is black is just plain ignorant.
