Rabbi Arthur Waskow wrote about Catholic Church leaders: "For these men, 'religion' happens only in the genitals -- not in a hungry belly, an inquiring mind, a cancerous throat, a troubled soul..." - Do you disagree with the Rabbi?

A friend said to me long ago "If your house is screwed up don't try to move into another house ... stay home and fix up your house" that's how I feel about the Catholic Church ... Catholics need to work to fix it if they think it needs fixing

Condoms don't protect against STDs. I guess common sense doesn't run deep in the atheistic community.

What are Condoms for then???They dont stop pregnancies 100% either....

Do some research before you make such absurd statements...

Consistent and correct use of male latex condoms can reduce the risk of STD transmission. To achieve the maximum protective effect, condoms must be used both consistently and correctly. Inconsistent use can lead to STD acquisition because transmission can occur with a single act of intercourse with an infected partner. Similarly, if condoms are not used correctly, the protective effect may be diminished even when they are used consistentl

Didn't realize you were a condom expert. Little do you know that the AIDS virus is minuscule compared to a sperm cell. It will get through. Go try using condoms in Uganda. You'll be dead in 10 years.

Are you that Dense... Why would I want to go to Uganda to have sex... Hell over there they dont know what a condom is probably....But of Course all the expert doctors and researchers dont know what they are taking about.....
I suppose you believe you can get aids from kissing someone to...

Can you not read... or you just refuse to believe the experts..

condom users who have HIV-infected sex partners demonstrate that consistent condom use is highly effective in preventing transmission of HIV.

FROM THE CDC (center for Disease Control)
Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Including HIV Infection Latex condoms, when used consistently and correctly, are highly effective in preventing the sexual transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. In addition, consistent and correct use of latex condoms reduces the risk of other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including diseases transmitted by genital secretions, and to a lesser degree, genital ulcer diseases. Condom use may reduce the risk for genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV-associated diseases, e.g., genital warts and cervical cancer.

The proof is in the pudding. It reduces the risk, yes. The studies I highlighted prove this. However, it doesn't reduce the risk enough for it to be called protection. If you have sex with someone who has AIDS, you have a 69% percent chance to get it. If you want to take that risk, by all means, do. My statement wasn't stupid. I can't say the same for yours.

Laboratory studies have shown that latex condoms provide an effective barrier against even the smallest STD pathogens.

Epidemiologic studies that compare rates of HIV infection between condom users and nonusers who have HIV-infected sex partners demonstrate that consistent condom use is highly effective in preventing transmission of HIV. Similarly, epidemiologic studies have shown that condom use reduces the risk of many other STDs.

HA. In 1993 the University of Texas analyzed 11 different studies done on the effectiveness of condoms and the transmission of AIDS. They found that the protection rate was 31%. A 1993 analysis by S. C. Weller suggesting that condoms are 69 percent effective in preventing HIV transmission. If that's a chance you want to take, go ahead.

you made a blanket statement which was FALSE... Period.. Why do you assume anyone would take that chance.. Condoms are effective.. whether as much as anyone would like them to be ,, If they were only 10 percent effective,, that is better than nothing.... Why dont you use logic instead of telling someone to try something..
Every time you have sex, you take a chance.....

They don't protect against STDs. They can help, as we agree upon, but they aren't effective enough to call it protection.

So, you'd rather go with NO roof, than have SOME protection? Bulletproof vests only allow "some" protection, but only an idiot would go into a gunfight without all the protection he can get! Safety belts only allow "some" protection, but there are laws that require their use because only an idiot would go without them. A Bungee cord, when jumping off a bridge is not foolproof, but only a fool would jump without it! Are YOU a fool?? an idiot?? Very few things are 100% idiot proof, but many things @ 20 / 60 / 80% still save lives, unless you are an idiot!
