Public Option Gains Momentum

- The House of Representatives may unveil a unified health care bill as early as next week, and new cost estimates give moderates in the House a stronger argument for the type of government-run health insurance plan, or "public option," that they favor. Democrats in the House are considering a number of different ways to fashion a public option for... Read full article »

Why anyone would want the government to run our health care is beyond me. We will be turned down for necessary treatments, wait months before we can see specialists or get care we need and our taxes will go up tremendously. I worked for the government for many, many years and I can tell you that there is no greater inefficient entity than anything run by government workers.Ask any person in countries that have government-run health care and you will find out that they wish they had the health care and insurance that we have. Americans - wake up before it is too late. If you think we pay too much now, wait until the government gets its hands on health care. Your taxes will cripple you.

There must be some way congress has found to use the money intended for healthcare to their advantage or the Dem's wouldn't be pushing so hard for it. Face it Pelosi and Reid are both nuts and should be run out of the country with there illegal alien friends.

No, if we the people stopped paying taxes, we would just be jailed by our new Nazi in charge. The government of the people, by the people and for the people will never listen to we the people, once they get elected by the non-thinking majority.

I think it would be a fantastic idea for Obama & crowd to keep their nibs out of our health care and private enterprise in general. I also subscibe to a taxpayer strike. If enough folks would join in,this Marxist regime wouldn't last long. And hey, we are very soon going to be like the other socialist countries if this gang isn`t stopped. We will see things like back-ground checks in order to have a job. Based on your political views. Or health care, now isn`t that going to be exciting to fill out the questionaire that may include party affiliation. I put nothing past this batch of traitors. And for the Obama folks who watch the chat room chatter, what do you suppose would happen if all the taxpayers applied for welfare at the same time ?

Universal health care is a great idea, but all of the versions of this bill are nothing but an all out federal power grab. What ever happened to the Constitution of The United States of America?

Triage: the process of prioritizing sick or injured people for treatment according to the seriousness of the condition or injury, or in other words rationing. The US Military taught me that there were three basic categories of wounded. Critically wounded who, with proper medical care, could be brought back to a reasonable quality of life and even be posted back to a war time position. Soldiers with non critical and non life threatening injuries that could be treated and sent back to duty assignments. Critically wounded who require immediate attention but the prognosis was doubtful that they would be to make a recovery sufficient to be a viable part of the military or civilian life again. The priority given was the order in which I presented the categories. When the need was not greater than the supply then all were attended to. There were many miraculous stories that came out of Viet Nam about lives being saved. No one talks about lives that were lost because the need exceeded the supply. There is not a death panel that dictates who lives or who dies. There is someone who decides who is treated and who is not and when someone dies as a result of not being treated then they have had their day before the “death panel.”

Unless there is a plan to increase the number of medical personnel, thus increasing the supply, a plan to increase availability and release pent up demand will result in shortages and require triaging or rationing. An increase in supply would also, based upon supply and demand, also reduce cost of health care. Now there is a novel idea.

Good point Moriah. I take it you were a medic in Nam? I was a EMT and what scares me is when you work in the system and see the in and out, day to day stuff, our system was not set up for this. And I don't see any plan ( I hear a lot of talk) to increase medical staff. If anything I think there will be a DECREASE in doctors, nurses, medics and so on. It's really got me nervous!!

Think this isn't another one of those ploy's to make it look like most americans support this so called "healthcare reform"? I do have a positive opinion of the new pot laws!! I got this email a few days ago.We need to tie up all the phone lines so they can't get a call through or apply and get non supporters to gather
    Friend --

After months of negotiations, the health reform debate is about to move to the full Congress for the first time. With the insurance industry lobby pulling out all the stops to derail progress, we need everyone who supports reform to weigh in. So here's the plan: Set a new OFA record by getting 100,000 calls to Congress placed or committed to on a single day.

On Tuesday, October 20th, OFA volunteers will gather at "Time to Deliver" call parties and neighborhood outreach events across the country. We'll get together in living rooms and public locations, and reach out to friendly voters whose voices are particularly critical in this debate. We'll talk to them about the President's plan and then we'll ask them to call on their representatives to support reform.

President Obama will be joining a call party and then speaking directly to all the other events that evening via an exclusive live webcast, sharing the latest info on the fight for reform and...

President Obama will be joining a call party and then speaking directly to all the other events that evening via an exclusive live webcast, sharing the latest info on the fight for reform and our campaign for change.

It's an ambitious plan -- and it depends on you. Find a "Time to Deliver" event near you, or sign up to host one in your area.

Participating (or hosting) is surprisingly easy. No special experience is required, and we'll provide simple step-by-step instructions. You'll gather with friends, neighbors, and OFA supporters from nearby, and together you'll have a great time while making a huge difference.

We're closer to health reform now than we've ever been, but we must not take anything for granted. The insurance industry is throwing millions of dollars a day and an army of lobbyists at Congress to stop reform.

If we can get 100,000 calls to Congress placed or committed to on a single day it will ensure the people's voices are heard louder than the lobbyists -- but it won't be easy. Everything hinges on folks like you stepping up and joining in.

Can we count on you? Please sign up to attend or host a Time to Deliver event on October 20th:

all members of congress who vote for this ridiculous
health plan, should mark the date of their yes vote, then
hold on to their butt with both hands, after the next
election they can go back, check the date of their vote, and find the reason why they are in congress any

Public option really means no option. There are many ways to improve healthcare without socialist programs. This is really about the national socialist party taking control of every aspect of our lives. There is nothing in our constitution that authorizes the federal government to engage in any of the abominations being proposed. I hope enough people open their eyes, and see Obama, and his masters for what they are, before its too late to reverse the damage they have already done.

Magnus, Wrong Rasmussen 54% against public option,43% for Public option. Also, stories from England, Canada, Germany and even Oregon about people being denied coverage due to age and cost. A govt body decides this not your doctor. Hear what Robert Reich has to say about national healthcare. You probably don't care you are a liberal troll.
