Earlier this week we asked SodaHeads what they thought about police getting involved with pot-smoking parents. Should police launch child-endangerment investigations because a parent smokes weed, or should the authorities keep their paws off pot?
If you missed out on the original story, here's an excerpt:
So, what did SodaHeads decide?
Keep your paws off our weed! Of course, not everyone agreed, so we thought this would be the perfect question to dive into for today's Deep Dive infographic. Wanna know what parents thought? What about the kids? And where are the majority of these pot-smoking parents likely residing?
We've compiled all that information and more right here -- and presented it in a simple, easy-to-read infographic.
Let's dive.

If you missed out on the original story, here's an excerpt:
When police found around 10 grams of marijuana in Penelope Harris' Bronx apartment last year, prosecutors didn't even bother charging her with the crime because the amount wasn't even significant enough to merit a misdemeanor.
It was, however, enough to have her kids taken from her.
According to the New York Times, Harris had two kids living with her when police found the illicit substance, her 10-year-old son and 8-year-old niece -- and child welfare took both of them from her possession, despite not being charged with anything.
Her son was returned within a week but her niece, who was living with Harris as a foster child, was taken from her for over a year. Harris only recently got her back.
She said, "I felt like less of a parent, like I had failed my children. It tore me up."

I don't smoke anything, but I say cops stay out of it. BUT, I think it would be very irresponsible and stupid for a parent to openly smoke pot in front of their children. What does that teach the kid on any moral level? Children need a parents 100% conscious awareness and attention and to set a positive example. I don't want my kids to do any type of smoking or drinking until they are fully responsible for their own lives and out of my house. Unless it's vacation in Mexico where the legal drinking age is 18.
Do it behind close doors with some buddies, but don't neglect your kids and take away their innocence.
Go back to your basement couch, losers! Sit there and think up how to solve the worlds problems, then forget immediately what you were even talking about, then blame Bush for everything!
Prescription Drugs? IMO for losers, I refuse to get prescriptions from doctors
Alcohol? IMO for losers, Why would I want to turn into a violent a-hole?
Alcohol, which is legal and extremely popular in modern society, causes significant harm in both the short and long terms. It is known to be directly responsible for several life-threatening conditions such as cirrhosis of the liver, cardiovascular disease, and several forms of cancer. Marijuana is responsible for no such disease, according to the most recent medical research. Furthermore, according to the world's medical literature there has never been a single death attributed to marijuana. There are tens of thousands of deaths each year worldwide directly attributed to alcohol. Marijuana is objectively a safer substance.
Simply because something is legal shouldn't define a persons opinion of it.
I know you will hate me for being right. But don't bother informing me of such, I see it coming and I don't care.
Pot, especially over the last 15-20 years or so, has been advocated as a perfectly safe recreation that is only illegal because of "uptight fuddy-duddies in DC who want to kill your buzz" or because of "uptight greedy politicians who want to tax it but can't figure out how to yet" (the two are interchangeable as to which will get under someone's skin more).
Yeah, pot is so safe, and friendly and cuddly... kinda like this guy...
"Pot doesn't kill anyone." Well, neither does pedobear. You want your kids to play with pedobear while you get high?
Pot doesn't make people losers because of what it does NOT do to a smoker. Pot makes people loser because of what it DOES do, which is turn people into dependent bottom-feeding burnout zombies.
I started out a drinker, and in 7 years had messed up my career because of constantly being drunk or hung over to the point I was a liability at work. So, I started smoking pot, and have for the last 16 years. In that time, I've started my own business, gotten completely out of debt, had no major health problems, been more emotionally stable (less anger controlled outbursts), and improved my relationships with friends and family.
So, if all those improvements make me a loser, I'll take it, because I know from personal experience how alcohol messed up my life.
and weed in anyway relate? Silly.

Am I the only thinking...
1. Why were the cops there in the first place?
2. Were there any signs or reports of abuse?
Come on people, when did they start doing random drug checks?
As a child advocate I know just because you have a little pot in your home doesn't lead to you losing your child. Yes drug use is used to build a stronger case against PROVEN abuse.
How many of you potheads have had a cop knock on your door to go through your home?
ANYONE?
If police are called- Again they can't remove a child unless there is proof af abuse. Besides They would need a warrant to search your home, unless you say it's alright. One call isn't going to get a warrant either. They will watch to see if you are possibly selling, but they won't waste man hours unless there is something to it.
