Public Opinion Supports Jailing Seven-Cent Robber [INFOGRAPHIC]

SodaHead Infographics 2011/09/03 00:00:00
Earlier this week we asked SodaHeads if they thought a New York juvenile should get two-to-six for using a BB gun to rob seven cents from a 73-year-old man, and the votes poured in.

If you missed the original story, we'll get you up to speed:

[Anthony] Stewart had the chance to plead guilty and be sentenced as a youthful offender. He refused, and Judge Walsh threw down a two-to-six-year sentence in a juvenile facility -- and a lifelong felony conviction.

Prosecutors maintain that Stewart and Ninham attacked the man and stole all the money he had on him: seven cents. The teens had BB guns that looked like hand guns.

Stewart isn't old enough for prison, so he'll serve his years in a juvenile facility.

The results are in, and it looks like the majority sided with Judge Walsh.

Now that everyone on SodaHead has access to demographic breakdowns, today we thought we'd branch out and tap into some external sources as well for a fuller perspective.

Let's dive.

If the motivation was to commit a crime(in this case robbery)then it doesn,t matter if the criminal used a BB gun, a fake or replica gun, or a knife it is still considered armed robbery under the law and they are subject to the same penalties as a criminal who uses an actual firearm.Remember the old saying "If you can,t do the time, don,t do the crime."

Doesn't matter what the haul was. Put him away. Give him a record.

In any case, the sentence will be reduced to a couple of months
and he probably won't be seeking employment during his lifetime,
    anyway.

As a trauma surgical nurse I have seen some pretty serious injuries from a BB. We had an 8 year old several weeks ago that was accidentally shot in the abdomen by his little brother. The BB made several holes in the child's small bowel. We had to do a resection of some of the bowel.
I have seen many eye injuries caused by BBs as well. A couple of the people lost sight in the affected eye.
BBs should not be taken for granted. They can do damage.

Is there really no one else on Sodahead who has figured out what a sham of an idea this is?

First- this is not public opinion- this is SODAHEADS opinion responding to this particular question ONLY on Sodahead.

2nd- We have no idea what the demographics of S-heard are, and I'm sure they'll never tell us.

3rd- Even the PIE CHART IS DISHONESTLY represented, this is what a 95-5% pie chart always looks like.

There has been a shameless concerted and deliberate effort by the Christian right the last two decades to demonize and portray Muslim/Arabs as enemies of western civilization and a threat to the world.
And also, anyone who don't have the same view as they do about Muslims,is called a Terrorist sympathizer and supporter of Terrorist and Terrorism.

When reminded the people in a democratic country, like the United States, have some influence on the matter through elected leaders and only the United States Congress can declare war, Göring replied, 'Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.'"

Exactly, rule and stay in power by fear.Scare the people so much then tell them to keep them safe and they must give the govt their rights, privacy and freedoms. And many Americans falls for that Lie,that we must have perpetual wars and occupy other peoples land for eternity to defend America against enemies who want to destroy us and keep us safe, and they keep swallowing that Kool aid.
If there was Oil on the moon.we would find a excuse to defend our freedoms on the moon from the moon people.Or as the warmongers like to say its better we kill them there instead of here.
War war, kill, kill, more war and more killing that's seems to be the norm that they are preparing Americans for.Unfortunately for Arabs and Muslims, they are the ones in their Bulls eye,and to make matters worse, getting pounded on their own turf, with no visible end in sight, and the chance that they might be occupied forever

The rift between Turkey and Israel comes despite U.S. efforts to encourage a rapprochement between two regional powers whose cooperation it needs to address changes sweeping the Middle East. Both countries share a border with Syria.
The U.N. report on the flotilla raid, prepared by a panel headed by former New Zealand prime minister Geoffrey Palmer, was formally handed to the office of U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and published on Friday , U.N. spokesman Eduardo del Buey said.
Del Buey later said Ban had hoped the inquiry and report on its findings would bring Israel and Turkey back together and "deeply regrets the fact that this has not been possible."
Turkey was stung by Israel's refusal to make a formal apology and pay compensation to families of the dead after the U.N. report said on Thursday that Israel had used unreasonable force in its raid on the Gaza-bound ship.
Israel's ambassador Gabby Levy is currently in his home country and cancelled plans to return to Turkey.
Israel said on Friday it accepted the findings of the U.N. report and hoped to mend ties with Turkey, but reiterated that it would not apologize for the deaths.

Israel can really ill afford to completely lose all semblance of alliance with Turkey.
Did you know that, after the USA- Turkey is considered by Israel to be her second greatest ally?
And, of course, no one has ever even made a whisper about the AMERICAN KILLED in the Israeli raid.

Yes,I know Turkey is Israels only friend in the area. But seeing how they treat us,especially when we are the only ones who keep them standing.by stabbing us in the back, continuously spying on us,Telling us with bold arrogance to "STEP OFF!! because we or anyone was not going to tell them to stop ripping off Palestinians land and building more illegal settlements.
In other words Bibi and the Zionist in effect tells us to "Shut the Hell up,and mind our own business, because we cant tell them what to do,and all we should be concerned about is in keeping those free arms and $$$$$$$$ billions of cash coming to them annually.
So if they treat us like that, one should expect that they will treat anyone else like Turkey the same or even worse.
Israels only concern is about Israel, and damn the world and anyone else

I hope so,Obama just about blamed the Palestinian victims for all the problem in the area.
Listening to Obama, one would think it was the Palestinians who took away land and build settlements there. It like he read the script right off the Nethanayu clipboard.
Know what Victoria,i don't believe that the Palestinians will ever see the end of the occupation,or have their state, as long As America is the middle man.they have to get the US out of the middle and get a country thats at least neutral, because the mediator is also an arm of Israel. No fair, thats why they can not get any where ,and will never get anywhere.
One thing i also know is that the UN have to change the way how one country can defy the rest of the world with Veto power.
US has stood up with Israel against justice and used it 42 times already.thats a disgrace.
They must change it that no one country can ever defy the will of the world in that way

That,s the rub.Al jazz era gives mostly a balanced unedited news, and the facts, here we get the facts that the govt want you to get.I was in china in 2006 and was watching a news report that i saw here the day before I left the US,and i could not believe what i saw,it was like two totally different things of the same incident, that's when i found out that our news here is highly censored, especially if its about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and always slanted to give the Israeli position.and i was really furious at what i saw, because we run allover claiming to be the world leaders in truth, fairness, and democracy.
Now I don't trust what I hear and see anymore,I always go to other foreign sources to make sure I get a bigger picture,so i go to the UK papers mostly, and of course Al Jazeera,We really don't have balanced media here, even though some claim our media is liberal,it is far from that and not even close,or we would get more of the full picture
