You are all nuts! and ignorant! and also hilariously trivial!
First of all.. the Koran actually reads much like the Bible.. all rehteroc and fear mongering in an attempt to force submission to God. I think the only really specific part of the Koran is the small section which goes into great detail about inheritance.. the rest of it reads like this:
Man sins. God is angry. God gives man one last chance. Man fails last chance. God destroys men. God says "you deserved it".
Any of you actually read history of religions without it being led by religious thought? You'll see it's all just politics! Let me explain, in summary:
1. Though there were slaves in ancient Egypt, the majority were salaried workers! "Hebrew" was the ancient Egyptian word for immigrant!
2. All immigrants to Egypt came for the promise of work, many got rich, one family of Hebrews even rose to the power of Pharaoh!
3. All those immigrants brought their belief systems with them.. which eventually got amalgamated into the Hebrew religion.
4. The drive across the Sinai and into Canaan, was actually a land grab by the Pharaoh Thutmose! How do you like them apples?
5. Hebrews didn't become Judaism until the emergence of Jesus. Jesus wanted to reverse and correct the failings of the Hebrew religion which, as we all...

5. Hebrews didn't become Judaism until the emergence of Jesus. Jesus wanted to reverse and correct the failings of the Hebrew religion which, as we all know, became Christianity. In creating Christianity, he in inadvertently solidified the Hebrew religion into Judaism.
6. The Muslims believe that Islam is the CONTINUATION and completion of the previous monotheistic religion. Think of it this way, Judaism provided the infrastructure, Christianity the love, and Islam the Law.
7. Calling the Prophet of Islam a pedophile is just plain stupid. Back then, puberty was the age of consent, not the arbitrary number "18". Also, they were political marriages, not marriages of lust. Also, if you knew anything about the prophet, you would know the only woman he truly loved was his first wife; who was 10 years older, a business woman, and that he was faithful to her completely (practically unheard of for those times).
8. The prophet Mohamed was a feminist. Men and Women prayed side by side and treated with equal value. The only reference to the "veil" (which at the time was an item denoting luxury status in women) is when the Prophet asked the hordes of men coming to his home in Medina (the first mosque) to speak to his wives from behind a veil, so that they can all remain respectful to each other. Pretty frigging understandable!
9. Most of the DOGMA that is the modern religion was created by man AFTER the fact. There are literally HUNDREDS of varying translations of the Bible. Christianity even held a meeting in the Council of Nicaea to put together the final version of the Bible, whereby the cut out, put in, and re-interpreted the source material as they saw fit. Muslims did basically the same thing, only they used what's called "Hadiths". These are saying of the prophet as heard by someone's uncle's sister's son's cousin's friend.. Chinese whispers anyone?
10. The bad parts of Islam comes from the radical sects, of which there is ONE that is the worst of all.. the Wahhabi of Saudi. A terrible bunch. The rest of Muslims don't pay attention to any of that and simply try to live decent lives.

What we found most interesting about the gender demographic was how close the results were. Sure, women were more enthusiastic about it, but only a little. It was still supported by 40% of male voters, and rejected by 45% of female voters. It appears gender doesn't have a whole lot of impact on reactions to the idea.
Young people were actually much more supportive of the town, but only the youngest voters. Nearly two-thirds of voters under the age of 18 thought it was revolutionary, perhaps illustrating a youthful desire for revolution. It's also worth noting that liberals were more likely to support the idea by almost the same amount, and age is often tied to politics.
Since the town is being built to help women build careers, we decided to take a look at how people of different employment status responded. Interestingly enough, the most supportive group was not students, but retirees. And there were quite a few responses from retirees. What's interesting about this is that it's inversely related to the age breakdown, which suggests older people don't like it.

That Mohammad, what a guy!
But I sure as hell do not blame people who search for answers & guidance.
I must also say that those who say they believe in something & then follow through with their beliefs have a hell of a lot more integrity than people who say they believe in something & then do the opposite of just about every tenant that belief holds.
Islam is not evil.
Many of the men who claim to be Muslims are.
Just like many Jews, many Christians, etc.
There is no difference.
But hating Islam is certainly as silly as hating Christianity.
It makes no sense.
No arguement.
I simply do not hate those who feel they need to follow something/one. They're insecure. They seek answers & guidance. They don't like the idea of being responsible for themselves or the consequences of the actions they take or support. I get that. Most people are weak when it comes down to it. ...right up until you try to take away their security blanket, at which point they become fierce fighters.
Fear is a hell of a motivator. Keeping people afraid works every single time... just look around at where we are now.
The Germans are usually unfriendly & impolite. They whine & bitch & moan all the time while the Muslims I know are absolutely the opposite.
You have a preconceived notion of what they're like because all you have is propaganda distributed by your "party" or the media, that's sole purpose is to cause you feel exactly the way you do about them.
But get it straight, Man, they're just people trying to get through life just like you & I. They have to work to make ends meet & want the best education for their kids. They have ups & downs & all the other normal things in life just like us.
Leave your porch, Man, & stop being afraid of people/things that are different from what you think is "normal." There are extremists in every religion/culture. You simply cannot lump everyone into one box because of the actions of a few wackos.
Germany doesn't have as many issues because they closely restrict who & how many & for how long, etc. People have to go through integration courses, regardless of where they're from (yes, us included).
Plus, the majority of Muslims in Germany are Turkish. The Turks have a very different culture. They're known for tolerance of various religions & their chipper disposition, generally.
Whatever.
We don't have to worry about such issues (like those in France) in the US because of our history & our constitution. We're pretty much covered. I refuse to sweat something that isn't happening (sorta like those ridiculous voter i.d. laws that prevent voter fraud that isn't happening).
There are major problems in Holland, and England. Here, in Detroit they have major problems with these people.
Voter ID only preserves the integrity of the voting system.
I live in one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world.
Yeah, there's crime... petty crime, for the most part. But we do not live in fear here. I go out at night & see old grannies walking alone or with their friends/sisters at all hours... without fear. No one is afraid they're going to get mugged or raped. It just doesn't happen. There are no big riots (except on May 1st when they're scheduled), there are protests & demonstrations every week... with every race/nationality included... about rents going up, about the quality of the education system, about nuclear waste, etc & so forth. Everyone marches together. I've never seen some big race riot or Muslim catastrophe of some sort. It simply doesn't happen.
But when she said that, my jaw dropped. She doesn't get it. It has worked. It's working now. It's incredibly successful. She was absolutely wrong. I can't tell you how wrong she was. It was simply astounding that she'd say such a thing.
Voter i.d. being pushed by the Republicans is simply a way to disenfranchise the voters they don't want to vote. We don't have a voter fraud problem.
Voter ID is just plain common sense. The libs are mad because it will make it harder for dead people to vote.... more than once. lol
Is is disenfranchisement when ID is required to cash a check, fly on a plane, drive a car and on and on??
Huh.
Is that why they invite me to dinner? Is that why they invite me into their home to teach their kids? Is that why I have coffee with Arabs, Turks, etc? Is that why many of the families have kids who leave Islam, yet are still a part of their families?
What the hell do you mean they don't want to assimilate? They ARE assimilated. Of course there are those who aren't. But at least here in Germany, the majority are assimilated. The Germans will complain & piss & moan about everything. But you've got to understand that the Turkish people were asked to come here to work. They were not given any restrictions on how long they could stay & they were not given any integration courses... no language, etc. The Germans separated themselves from the Turks in every way. They treated them a lot like the whites treated the blacks in the fifties & sixties. They didn't invite them into their homes to show them how they live or teach them the language. The Germans are at fault for the majority of the problems they've had with the immigrants here. Now, in the past fifteen years, since the integration programs have been implemented, the problems are fewer & fewer. There are foreigners from all over who aren't assimilated in the US. There are colonies in the US where outsiders...

Let's get it straight... voter i.d. implementation at this time is a ploy by the Republicans to prevent certain groups from voting for Obama. To push it so close to the election is clear disenfranchisement. They've so much as admitted it (Turzai from PA). There are people who just have no need for a photo i.d. They've never needed one before & they likely won't get one now just to vote... you know how old people are, especially. No one likes Romney... not even members of his own "party." They have to do anything they can to get him in, including cheating (which they've already done in the primaries), because he just can't win by number of people who support him.
He's an idiot.
He frightens me as much or more than Obama.
In other words, you're into the idea of a national i.d. card. Huh. That's very "pro-government control" of you.
The Arabs and Turks separate themselves from others by way of religion; they're Muslim and you're not.
Voter ID is available to all, both republican and democrats, except for dead people. No one is being disenfranchised except dead people and those who are ineligible to vote. Example, those who vote twice or in a district they're not eligible, illegal aliens etc. This is why democrats hate the new law. Cheating and lying is a specialty of the left, that's all they do.
It's not a national ID, it's state ID.
It will allow Republicans to have a chance to win because democrats will have a harder time gaming the system as I stated above. Drivers license and state ID cards are available to all.
You hear about voter fraud every election, it's just hard to prove.
Speaking of blind, deaf and dumb, how do you think Obama go elected?
they don't have to live under the control of a man, and can take care of themselves...
Generally, women live longer than men, and go on ....
