The next presidential debate isn't until October 16, but there's another big showdown on the horizon. Bill O'Reilly and Jon Stewart have agreed to settle their differences over a good ol' Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium at 8 p.m. this Saturday, October 6. We asked the public who would come out ahead, and after more than 1,200 votes, we have a [speculative] winner.

There was hardly a consensus (there rarely is in politics) but Jon Stewart managed to eek out a win by 8% overall. Naturally, conservatives voted overwhelmingly for O'Reilly and liberals voted overwhelmingly for Stewart, but there were some interesting nuances in the demographics, as well. Let's take a deeper look at how people voted.
Libertarians Leave O'Reilly Behind
O'Reilly didn't have the entire right on his side. Libertarians were actually 53% more likely to pick Stewart than conservatives. Progressives, on the other hand, agreed whole-heartedly with the liberals and supported Stewart en mass. Moderates and "Others" voted similarly to libertarians, with most of their support going to Stewart.
Bill Wins Over Workers
O'Reilly did manage to come close in the overall vote with a couple of important demographics, including full-time workers and the retired. However, part-time workers and the unemployed were convinced Stewart would take the debate. Stewart is openly more supportive of public programs, like Medicare, so that shouldn't come as a surprise.
College Students Cheer on Stewart
Besides liberals and progressives, Stewart's strongest supporters were college-aged voters. Teens picked him, too, but college voters were even more gung-ho. O'Reilly has often joked that Stewart's fans are young, and he appears to be right. Of course, young people tend to lean left, anyway, so it's probably incidental.
