Protests Get Violent Across the Middle East Over Anti-Muslim Film: Should the Film Have Been Made?

As if the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other U.S. officials wasn't enough, violence continues in the Middle East in protest of an American-made, anti-Muslim film that portrays Prophet Mohammed as a womanizer, killer and child molester.

Clashes between protesters and security forces outside the U.S. Embassies in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Sudan have resulted in a handful of deaths so far. Protesters continue to burn U.S. flags and attempt to storm U.S. Embassies across the Middle East.

Do you think the controversial film should have been made in the first place? Or was it a poor move considering the hyper-sensitive relationship between the East and West right now?

CBSNEWS.COM reports:

    1. It was not an 'anti-Muslim' film. It was a youtube clip critical of Mohammed.

    2. The murders and riots are not anti-film, they are anti-US

    3. The liberal narrative is to blame the movie because if they did not, it would lead them to the obvious conclusion: Obama's foreign policy of bow and scrape generates more violence against Americans.

    Obama foreign policy failure

Making a movie is a free speech and if anti film makers do not like it, they also have the right to protest; however, killing is not supported under any constitutions; albait, killers must be bought to justice.

Along with our First Amendment rights however, comes the obligation to know when it is appropriate to make such inflamatory statements and claims. Respect for the rights of others seems to have been ignored. Free speech, yes. Poor taste, equally yes.

Of course it is free speech. that is not the point. It is not respectful speech and that is why there is a problem. In Islam it is wrong to be disrespectful of Jesus or Mohamod or Mary etc and that is why the people are so angry.

Of course..it's always free speech when Hollywood or the Muslims trash Christians..Christianity in general or Jews.......That silly..and I do mean silly..film did not incite anyone..those attacks were planned way in advance for 9-11.

What does that mean?? Are you one of those that actually believes that our own government crashed those planes..like Rosie O'Donnell? I don't need to look "too deeply" into 9-11..Bin Laden ordered it and his minions carried it out...and there is absolutely no doubt..the perpetrators were ALL Muslim males between the age of 17 and 40.

"No, it's a politically sensitive time right now"? What? Really. Muslims hold up signs that say BEHEAD THOSE WHO SAY ISLAM IS VIOLENT. If that is free speech then the film is free speech. For speech to be free it must be unshackled from politics.

Did Christians riot over "The Life of Brian" or over South Park" depictions of Jesus and God the Father? Why, because they weren't offended, or because they're civilized?

Actually, after seeing the trailer & the poor quality of the film, I'd really like to say it shouldn't have been made; however, from a free speech standpoint, there is no reason it should not have been made or released. Islam need not have a reason for calling for the murder of others, so the current administration using this as the main reason for the latest skubala in the Middle East is lunacy. Where were they when Bibles were burned by our own military, or the "Piss Christ" picture was created, or any of the voluminous insults to Christianity? Did you see Christians out burning things, killing people, calling for Fatwahs? Absolutely not.

Actually, the point is that it's too bad a group of people felt offended enough to murder, pillage, destroy, & threaten. No US citizen should have to cower in fear for exhibiting their freedom of speech, religion, press & assembly. Those who offend Christians do not have to go into hiding or be afraid for their lives, or the lives of their family.

What happened is many of those immigrants started coming illegally, and began killing our people, and abusing our friendship, and we are getting tired of it. It burns me up to see them burning our flag when we have done so much for them.

Yeah, let's just run & hide and let them scare us into leaving them to rape, pillage, maim, & dictate to the rest of the world how it's going to be. With millions of Muslims living in the USA, what makes you think that putting our tails between our legs is going to somehow make the bad people go away, especially when those bad people have promised death to both Americans & Israelis?

My one & only child, a female Staff Sergent in the USAF, is "over there". As a biblical scholar & a person having logged in more than 100 hours on the study of the Israeli-Arab conflict, I can assure you I know much more about the conflict over there than you. One does not win against an enemy by bowing to their leaders, giving their countries billions of taxpayer dollars, supporting the Muslim Brotherhood & kow-towing to political pressures, all along while they're spitting in our faces, killing our children, laughing behind our backs, and humiliating us. It's a weak-kneed sister (girlie man) who thinks standing up to evil is about having "illusions of grandure". (btw, it "delusions of grandeur", not "illusions of grandure")

I do not believe that this whole thing is over that ridiculous movie. I tend to agree that it was preplanned and the video was thrown in by the US as the cause. It is not rocket science to know that you should beef up security on 9/11 at your middle eastern embassies. This did not happen...but is anybody asking Obama why??? NOPE!!! This makes them all just as guilty as the people that murdered the Ambassador and the others.

Other countries have to recognize that our Constitution works and assures us of free speech just like we are aware of the fact that other countries have a majority Muslim population. Get over it! Why show so much violence? It only shows more and more that the Muslim faith is a violent one.

The film-maker was trying to also get a point across about the persecution of coptic christians in the very modern way of doing things today,,,,,you tube. This free speech is allowed in the greatest country in the world, America. The film has been out for two or three months and nothing came of it and even most muslim clerics still have not even seen it and still they promoted this violence. Demonstrations are understandable. Violence and murder do not bode well for a "peaceful religion". Now a fatah has been issused that anyone making a you yube video in anyway against islam is to be hunted down and murdered. This was a celebration of their 9/11 victory in America. The President and his administration are overtly lying when they say it is all because of the movie. We need to wake up and realize his real motives. He is even worst than Jimmy Carter on foreign policy. He doesn't really care or he would be taking care to protect America and Americans instead of going on David Letterman, flying off to Las Vegas to rub shoulders with his buddy millionaires, and giving radio interviews with DJs like "Pimp with a Limp"...... I wish Hillary had been there to get the call at 3 am ....she would not have rolled over and gone back to sleep..

Both are wrong. However, one is as a result of another. Meaning if it weren't for the offending of others the deaths wouldn't occur. In Same way the middle east is foolish defending their killings you too are foolish for defending the movie by claiming its merely "free speech"! This would make more sense if you were christian. In christianity, no sin carries less weight than another. They are all sins in the end.
