The U.S. supported the removal of the last regime in Egypt and now we have militant Muslims storming the U.S. embassy and raising black flags. With American help, these very militants were freed from the tyranny of Mubarak -- and now this? Can the U.S. ever win in the Middle East?

Transquesta 2012/09/11 21:10:10No+19The best option is for us to get the hell out of the middle east, and to stay out! Following that would be to close our borders to ANY travel FROM the middle east. Complete quarantine. Nobody in, nobody out--at least not insofar as we're concerned. Fundamentalist Islam should be seen as the contagion it is, and it should be treated as such.

Rosie O'Donnell, of course makes excuses for Islamic behavior by blaming hostile Christians every single time. Never mind her liberal Hollywood as the true purpatrator.
The lesson which should be taken from recent events in Libya and Egypt is that we should be choosing our allies with extreme care. When we funded and armed OBL in Afghanistan to fight off the Soviets, he eventually turned around and attacked us in 2001. We supported him because he was an ideological opponent of the USSR. Nowadays we seem to be supporting 'democratic' movements which will only serve to usher in Islamist governments wherever they win (whether it's the NTC or what the Muslim Brotherhood has sadly become in recent decades).
A better tactic will be to support a realist foreign policy. Make it so we are no longer so trigger-happy for military intervention. Support governments which are competent and politically stable, not just ones which will give us short-run economic benefits or which are aligned ideologically with 'democracy'. Foster the remnants of Arab nationalism - only this way can governments reassert their legitimacy against religious zealots. Revoke or reconsider Israel's status as a permanent ally, given their destabilising influence in the region. Cooperate more with the realist governments of Russia and China than with misguided Western European idealists.
Honestly, I think there are two productive ways forward: one, for an advocate of realpolitik (in the mold of Bush Sr.) to take centre stage; or two, for the Green and Libertarian parties to take the place of the Democratic and Republican ones.
God may use the Muslims to punish the Christians for what we have allowed in a really FREE SOCIETY.

They say that there is a difference between a typical Muslim and an Islamist. I submit that while it still may be true, judging by the activies of the crowd in Cairo, it appears to be many less typical peaceful Muslims than we first were lead to believe. I would be more inclined to believe that there is Islamists who are violent , Islamists that are sympathetic to their cause but lack the stomach for the more hands-on approach and then there are the women who are told to do things and they obey and the children that have been told non-believers are the GREAT SATAN and as such are not to be believed regardless of the evidence that Islam is the great lie.
Ladies and gentlemen, none of this makes any difference at all. Islam hates all non-believers, no matter where they come from. They are told their is only 3 outcomes for anyone who has not come to Islam.

1) To be converted to Islam.
2) To be made to pay a submission tax and be treated as a 3rd class citizen. Not allowed to own any real property or to have control over their own lives. They would be under constant suspicion and harassed throughout their lives. Their women and children would be subject to the whims of true believers and 2nd class citizens. In short, slaves. This means if a true believer wants to take your woman as a sex slave, it is his right to do so. Your male children can be taken and made to fight for Islam, girls will be taken as sex slaves or used for whatever purpose they see fit.
3) death.
To Islam, there is no 4th choice. The world MUST convert to Islam, submit to it's followers, or die. The fight will continue. If we start trying to negotiate peace, we will be stuck in the same circle as Israel with the hard-headed Palestinians. Give them a concession and they will be silent for all of about 3months, then start their crap again in order to get more.
If all they understand is violence, then that is what we have to give them, violence. The world has to stamp out Islam. We believe in live and let live. We strive toward that goal at all costs. But what happens when the adversary has no desire to co-exist? Then it comes down to submit to the enemy or come at them with everything you have and drop the basic rules of civility. The rest of the world turns a blind eye to the atrocity of war when it comes from the Muslim world but it makes global news when some of our soilders see it day in and day out and retaliates in kind as if we are the side that dropped all pretense of decency in the first place. If we are not willing to do this, then we might as well put down our weapons, get in line and decide which one of the 3 choices we would like to exist under.
Islam is wrong. We have a 4th choice, survival. Fighting tooth and nail, using the same tactics, strategy, and ferocity as our enemy until all of us or all of Islam is dead. Peace-loving Muslims are and always will be welcome in the peaceful world I propose, but they must be made to understand that , should peace prevail and Islam is eradicated from the face of the earth, any attempt to reawaken the nightmare will be treated the same way Muhammed should have been treated when he first started. With death. They made the rules, I am just suggesting that we "Fight fire with fire"
No mollycoddling, no pandering, no more bowing and apologizing.
The obvious answer is YES of course?
But neither the US, nor any other contry on the planet, can WIN-LOSE another country.

It's not the people. they are kind hearted and generous by nature - it is the totally screwed up philosophy of Islam that is the probelm....get rid of it and tada a peaceful region
As a matter of fact, Islam is the most tolerant and open-minded religion. Islam has a diverse concepts and ideas that appeals to every taste. Islam has the solution to every social problem or even world problem.
Islam is very considerate, tolerant and understanding of the humans and their nature.
