The U.S. supported the removal of the last regime in Egypt and now we have militant Muslims storming the U.S. embassy and raising black flags. With American help, these very militants were freed from the tyranny of Mubarak -- and now this? Can the U.S. ever win in the Middle East?

CNN.COM reports:
Angry protesters climbed the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday and hauled down the American flag.

The best option is for us to get the hell out of the middle east, and to stay out! Following that would be to close our borders to ANY travel FROM the middle east. Complete quarantine. Nobody in, nobody out--at least not insofar as we're concerned. Fundamentalist Islam should be seen as the contagion it is, and it should be treated as such.

I don't see a way to win. I agree with the top comment on here, just get out and stay out. We should remain vigilant, however. Constant vigilance!

The only way to win is to cut off all aid and stop trying to be the world police let them destroy each other and we are the winners. We can get oil elsewhere and I would rather pay a little more for gas than have to be a whore to the crazy religious zealots in the middle east.

No we can't win the the war in the midle east, as long as we keep denying we are in war with them and ingnoring who they really are and what it is they want to do to us. We underestimate them at our peril.

Nuke them. Done deal. Won't hear from them again.

(Sorry, that seemed a bit harsh after re-reading it. NO NUKES. Use neutron bombs instead. It whacks the people but won't harm the structures or the oil fields very much.)

Even the worst behaved child can be disciplined. U.S. Embassies are U.S. property. An attack on an embassy is an act of war. All those surrounding, mobbing and entering the embassy are enemy combatants. Immediate and overwhelming retalliation against the crowd would discourage that kind of behavior. I would suggest napalm and C130 gunships on the first offence. A second offence would bring much more severe retailation. You can only poke the bull in the butt so many times before you pay the price. It is time to let them feel the horn.

What political points? This whole thing reeks of politics and IS politics. However, I do remember Obummer being a foreign policy expert BEFORE he came into office. He was a foreign policy expert when he was in the Illinois senate and he built up even more expertise when he was In the U.S. Senate. From his vast 18 month experience in the Senate, he became even more expert as time went along. Obviously, we can see that he got a grade of "F" after resigning the Senate in 2008 so that he could carry on his foreign policy expertise in Syria, Egypt, Libya, North Korea, China and Russia. So far, so bad.

Romney is the nominee for the Presidency of the U.S. He has every right to weigh in with what he thinks is right and what may be his approach to such problems. Obama weighed in AGAINST Bush. What made him the expert at that time? Bush had alread had eight years of it, Obummer, zero years. Give me a break.

I seem to remember obama using deaths in Afghasistan to "score political points" when he was campaigning for president.

This is a free country (kind of) and Romney has every right to express his opinion along with every other citizen. Instead of jumping on Romney, why don't you ask your "precious" why he didn't attend his intel briefings during the week leading up to the attack? Why don't you ask him why he hasn't included Romney in those briefings, like he's suppose to do by law? Think he might be afraid that if Romney attends the briefings, little "precious" might have to give up his golf game and attend also?

OK I'll go along with that. 10 or 15 well placed 10 megaton bombs should do the trick. Problem solved.

I wasn't saying we should commit genocide, I'm just saying that ther is no way to bring peace and stability to that region.
  • Bill Billyk75 2012/09/16 13:14:09
    Bill
I like your first comment better.
However, I have softened and modified my opinion. We should use the equivalent of the 10 megaton bombs in neutron bombs. This would cause far less damage to the infrastructure and the oil fields. Yes, we may have to wait a while for it to stop glowing but in the end, no more fanatical murderers running around bathing in innocent blood just for kicks and in the name of Islam.
