The U.S. supported the removal of the last regime in Egypt and now we have militant Muslims storming the U.S. embassy and raising black flags. With American help, these very militants were freed from the tyranny of Mubarak -- and now this? Can the U.S. ever win in the Middle East?

CNN.COM reports:
Angry protesters climbed the walls of the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on Tuesday and hauled down the American flag.

The best option is for us to get the hell out of the middle east, and to stay out! Following that would be to close our borders to ANY travel FROM the middle east. Complete quarantine. Nobody in, nobody out--at least not insofar as we're concerned. Fundamentalist Islam should be seen as the contagion it is, and it should be treated as such.

The people of the Middle east are so backwards that they can not be helped. Stop sending our troops & stop sending our tax money. We should only watch the back of our friend Israel.
  • elvira 2012/09/16 01:21:58
We should leave them to their own misery. They'll eliminate one another. There is nothing there for us to win.

At the same time, keep a very sharp eye on them. They have no regard for life. They cannot be trusted.

Nope. We just don't have a real understanding of how ingrained the power struggles are in those countries. We better get the heck out of there and focus on securing our nation and work on a better immigration policy. The best thing we can do is offer a haven to the poor people who want to get the hell out of there.

NO, the cultures are just too different. The middle east is just too violent and barbaric. I'm not sure they are capable of acting civilized.

what u.s. this country has not behaved like a country since the 1913 federal reserve act. we've lost our ability to think for ourselves, cause our foreign policy decision making is left to non governmental organizations like the CFR. doesn't any boby ever wonder where all this money is comming from, for all the federal government growth? we're paying more and getting less and expect to be obedient to the fed and not question authority and we're definitely not getting any accountability by those who is suppose to serve the people. pay up and shut up, watch the european union, they WILL end up with a central euro bank and all the smaller central banks will go. messed up thing it doesn't matter all these central banks are owned by the very same corporative people, who have a monopoly on these banks. the jokes on us. so no we can never win, we already lost.

Our business there is merely economical. That is the way it should remain. They want our weaponry and money, we want their oil. They can keep their religions and practices.

Anytime we really need to be heard/felt in the middle east we can always send a message air mail SPECIAL DELIVERY on the head of a cruise missile or drone. It's a language they seem to understand.

No, and I don't know why we even tried. We've spent years trying to be compassionate and bring them freedom. Guess what ... THEY DON'T WANT IT!

Decades and billions wasted because we projected our wants and desires for freedom and independence and prosperity onto people who had no clue what those things meant. We THOUGHT, because we enjoy those things here at home and treasure them so highly that, of course, the rest of the world must want those things too. They don't.

And we didn't win in Israel, Israeli's won themselves ... because they wanted freedom and independence and prosperity just as much as we do .... and they were willing to work and fight for it.

Win? We win if we stay out of other people's countries, destroying them for oil, greed, and imperialism. If we don't learn how to do that, EVERYONE will lose, and apparently, they intend for Americans to know that it just won't be them anymore. Who can blame them? One country using 63% of the world's resources, us, and we wonder what they are mad about? They pay for our greed. Want to win, get out. Stay out, and stop trying to rule the world!

I voted yes, but we will not do what is needed to win there - no civilized nation really could live with what MUST happen in order for there to be peace in the Middle East ... the Romans had it right when they brought the region to a Carthaginian peace, and I'm afraid that's the ONLY possibility ... that being said, yes- we CAN bring utter peace to the Middle East ... but we wouldn't do things like that, at least not yet

    left in ruins

    absolute destruction

Of couse not and we should stop trying ... cut off all aid ... pull all embassies ... stop selling desalination technology ... and sell them bushels of wheat for hundreds of barrels of oil.

Islam is not a religion it is in fact a form of government ... questions like this can be used to tell the political leaning of any given blogger here / conservatives will post immediately what they feel is right and wrong . Liberals have to wait until their masters tell them what to think!

We cause the war in the Middle East with Israel's help.
  • Barbara Steveth... 2012/09/13 06:02:17
This war stems back to biblical times...with two brothers that didn't get along, one was a jew the other a soon to be palenstinian, this fighting is still continuing which is just crazy, its all to do with religion and two brothers fighting; unfortunately the US stuck its nose in siding with Israel, they made a huge mess of Afhanganan, and Kuwait for the oil. No the US aren't to blame for a fight that started many centureis ago, but the US are a fault when they gointo other countries and make promises that they don't fulfil..now that's wrong!
  • Steveth... Barbara 2012/09/13 06:10:39
Yes, you're right as to your story, but that's not why we are there. We want war. Al Qaeda and the Taliban is trained by US in the Egyptian prisons. We want war; we are evil! Israel wants to power the nuclear electric grid in the middle east. Iran already has a reactor on line and Israel is still there. Dah! We are to blame. Why is Israel there anyway; they stole the land with our help. We are evil.
  • Barbara Steveth... 2012/09/13 06:24:50
Agree to a point, but it was always israels land and they gave the some of the land to the palentinians which God told them because they did this the palenstinans will be a thorn in your side forever.....and look what's happened. I agree that the US are eviland back any country which will benefit the US...everyone knows that, the US has shown its true colours over the years!
  • Steveth... Barbara 2012/09/13 06:39:19
The allies had no business installing the Jews there. There has been so much death. The American Indians want their land back and have said they will accept Hollywood and Beverly Hills. What say you?

"installing the Jews there" - ????
Jews have had a presence there thousands of years before Mohammed was ever born.
The Zionist movement started during the Ottoman Empire. Long before the Allies set foot in the region.
The holiest place in Judaism is there compared the the two holiest places in Islam which are in Saudi Arabia.

    Learn a littler history please.
  • Steveth... fuzzy K... 2012/09/13 16:52:54
