Proposed Amendment # 28 to the US Constitution

Reaper 2009/10/27 14:45:53
What are the chances of this one passing congress and allowing the States to vote on it?

Proposed Amendment # 28 to the US Constitution

"Congress shall make no law that applies to any citizen of the United States that does not apply equally to all US Senators and Representatives. Congress shall make no law that applies to any US Senator or Representative that does not apply equally to all citizens of the United States. All existing laws and regulations that do not meet these criteria shall be declared null and void!"

As it should be. Perhaps the people representing us in Congress, would take their jobs more seriously and at least read the bills before they sign on to them. Are they not citizens of this country, too? All laws should apply to them, too!

There is no and has never been "We the People" its "They, the Republic". When we pledge our allegiance to the flag do we say "and to the democracy for which it stands? No. Its to the republic, for which it stands...or in other words, our elected officials that represents us on our behalf.

A Republic is rule by law. Democracy is rule by mob. We need to stop Case Law in our courts and go back to Constitutional Law.

If a Constitutional Amendment is required to enforce the clear language of the Constitution, then here are specific sections that might mitigate the civilization killers of Debt, Peak Oil, Climate Change, Food Bubble and Robot Risk created by the Federal government providing welfare:

Section 1. Congress's direct taxation the shall be limited to providing for the common defense, funding Federal operations associated with defending liberty. Funds for Federal government promoting the general welfare shall be requisitioned from the several States.
Section 2. Debt is the tax on future labor. Except in times of declared war, the budget must be balanced with sufficient reserves for periodically occurring disasters. Congressmen and Senators shall be ineligible for re-election if there is a Federal budget deficit for any two years of their term of service except during declared war.
Section 3. Federal government regulation of commerce requires a 2/3rds vote by both houses of Congress.

I have a better idea that be easily implemented. Let's stop electing lawyers and elect sucessful, honest, moral, honorable business types that know about managing a budget and creating jobs, etc. Please don't waste time with something that cannot be passed anyway. If we elected the right people we would need to mess up the Constitution with more useless Amendments.

It would be GREAT if Congress, Senate, House, Pres. had to deal with REAL life as we do!!! Do you know why the government has been shut down? Congress is trying to pass a bill that will stop the 70% coverage, paid by taxpayers, of Congress and Senate healthcare. This does not include staffers. Why would Reid table this bill not allowing discussion causing the government shut down?

No more lifetime anything unless you live off the same benefits you put into law for the rest of us. Great idea! No more feasting while throwing the rest of us crumbs. Where do I sign?

Why should they be allowed to ride around on our backs the rest of their life. They never have to worry about health insurance or weather or not the insurance company will pay for an expensive proceedure. You think they have to worry about living or dying because they are denied coverage. Let them walk a mile in our shoes Why should they be able to vote themselves a raise anyway. Thats just nonsense. And lets not even talk about how much time they take off. Way more than the average working American. And yet they fight like a bunch of adolecents while the rest of us struggle to make ends meet. They think they've seen uprisings in other countries. It will be nothing compared to here if things don't get better. What the hell is the American Dream? Its more like the American nightmare. I say its about time they took care of themselves like everyone else has to. They make alot of money off our misery. But last I knew they put their pants on the same way I do. One leg at a time. You have to be a fool to not want to vote for this. Or a member of the Senate or Congress.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on your address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around. Congressional Reform Act of 2011
    1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

    2. Congress (past, present and future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

    3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congress...

    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

    6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/12. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work. If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time. THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!!

I support this amendment. They need to learn that they are NO different then the rest of us. Plus all those running our country should have there salaries frozen just like the rest of us. There salaries ARE ASTRONOMICAL. The Pres. wants to lower our debt have the Senators, Rep.& ALL our Elect Officials tighten there belts as we have. START & CUT BACK THERE SALARIES put a freeze on theirs. Have them pay for there retirement, Lord know with what they make it would be nothing to them. Goverment needs to be
treated as we the people are!!!!!
