So let's see if I understand this. Bain buys GST in 1993 and carries it for 8 years. The union went out on strike in 1997 and got most all of what they demanded. Meanwhile, the US Steel industry was suffer from their own mistakes. In the 50's and 60's the steel magnets all felt so comfortable in their standing the shared technology with Japan and Europe. Both of whom became our biggest competitors. Our steel industry started falling behind from that point. Europe and the Japanese went to Oxygen fired furnaces while the US stayed with open hearth furnaces (very inefficient). Instead of upgrading to more efficient furnaces they opt to build bigger open hearth systems. Then there was our casting methods that were old school while everyone else was moving to newer modern methods, followed by computerization. We didn't start upgrading to computerized systems until we had lost our edge in the world market. The final nail was the high cost of manufacturing in the US (Unions, Government regulations and taxation).
One final thing, has anyone noticed, this is the same guy that was in the first ad. Also, Joe Soptic's wife died in 2006, 5 years AFTER he was laid off. Lung cancer can be present for that long, but it's doubtful she would have known and if she had, he would have been able t...

Lung cancer can be present for that long, but it's doubtful she would have known and if she had, he would have been able to tell. I watch a friends mother and neighbor lady die from Lung Cancer and once they started feeling ill, everyone could tell they weren't feeling well. This guy is a phony and has a hardon for Mitt and or Bain and is probably getting a nice chunk of change from Priorities USA.

Pretty good source, yes? Jealousy has a very ugly soul! :( Old Salt
