President Obama recently came in support of Gay Marriage. Do you believe, as I do, that this action was strictly political and not personal?

My personal view is that individuals should be allowed to do whatever they want to do as long as they do not prevent anybody else from doing the same.

My political view is that marriage should not be regulated by Federal, State, or even Local governments. Marriage is a private and religious institution. People have different views on marriage. I personally believe marriage is between a man and woman, but I do not have any problem with gay people living together in a partnership similar to and/or called marriage. What I want to see is marriage separate from government, as religion is supposed to be separate from government.

My view is a libertarian view, meaning I want to privatize marriage.

No I don't think it was for this reason. Biden was asked about it and gave his answer.
He could have demurred, but he was honest. Obama would never have broached it if not for that. And as for it being political: there was never any assurance that it would be a good thing politically or a bad thing. It's even handed. Obama has lost votes for it and possibly gained votes. I personally don't think it has that much effect. Except on the young. The young are pro-gay rights. And they are the future.

I honestly don't understand people who are saying it was a political move. I believe that it hurt him politically, unfortunately.

The president said that he spoke to his family prior to making this decision. It is an equal rights move not a political. The President did the right thing!

Equal rights you say. Then why didn't President Obama endorse polygamy also? Should three people be allowed to marry?

I don't agree. The right thing would be admitting that the government has no role in regulating marriage.

No, I disagree, President Obama is 100% for Gay Marriage.
    Mike
It was a personal decision, made with forethought to Constitutional rights and only, after being pressured by conservatives and the gay community to reach a decision. The conservatives goal, create more negativeness in the publics view towards the president. The gay communities goal, Constitutional confirmation from the president to their rights to marriage. Political NO, as his decision would not have come about, if it weren't for public pressure. The same pressure that forced him to make a statement and release his birth certificate, but also had nothing to do with politics, other than to stir-up a negative public opinion.

It wasn't part of his agenda, he's trying to focus on the economy, so I think it truly was a personal statement.
While this may aid his reelection, it's another sidetrack he has to deal with because no one leaves him alone to get done what needs to get done.
Oh, and stop blaming Obama for what the congress is doing.

I don't think so. People can change their thinking and his was changed by his two daughters having friends with gay parents. You have to change with the times when it comes to social issues and especially as President.
