Poll Shows Overwhelming Public Support For Obama As GOP Falls For His Immigration Trap
June 19, 2012
By Justin Rosario

The problem with not standing for anything other than “the opposite of what Obama says,” is that you become very predictable and therefore easy to trap. The GOP put this unfortunate tendency on full display after President Obama laid out his plan to grant almost one million young illegal immigrants a temporary amnesty. He did it using an Executive Order, meaning Congress has no say in the matter. Predictably, the right wing exploded with indignity and outrage. OUTRAGE, I say!! Declarations that Obama is a dictator and a tyrant were immediate. Rep. Steve King (R-Dick) claims he is going to sue to halt the order. The deeply racist GOP literally could not stop itself from sticking its head into the guillotine and pulling the lever.

Just like President Obama planned. Unless you think it’s a coincidence he waited two years to circumvent the do nothing, GOP-crippled Congress to enact a key part of the DREAM Act the GOP continues to block?

Even as the GOP gnashes its teeth, the public is applauding the move; and the harder the GOP fights it, the worse they will look. Bloomberg reports:

Sixty-four percent of likely voters surveyed after Obama’s June 15 announcement said they agreed with the policy, while 30 percent said they disagreed. Independents backed the decision by better than a two-to-one margin.

The results underscore the challenge facing Mitt Romney and Republicans as they try to woo Hispanic voters, who are the nation’s largest ethnic minority and made up 9 percent of the 2008 electorate, according to a Pew Hispanic Center analysis of exit polls. Obama won the Hispanic vote 67 to 31 percent over Republican John McCain in 2008, according to exit polls.

Even Republican voters are mostly split, as only 56% were opposed to the move. Mitt Romney, on the other hand, avoided the question the way a Republican avoids fiscal responsibility. While Mittens may be hoping something dramatic happens to draw attention away from his inability to answer the simple question of whether he would continue the order as president or if he would shut it down, his silence on the issue is deafening, particularly among the Hispanic community.

The GOP’s refusal to moderate its tone of hate is beginning to take its toll as even basic non-controversial decisions that benefit anyone other than the GOP’s older, whiter and more bigoted base is met with howls of protest. The louder the howls, the more the general public is turned off from the right’s message of divisiveness.

Says Carmen Nieves, a 27 year old Puerto Rican participant of the poll, “In that Republican Party, there is a tolerance problem.” Truer words have never been spoken.

What surprises me is the number of conservatives on SH, who, until now, never seem to have heard of an Executive Order before, and that all Presidents since the 1930s have had the opportunity to use them.

I've tried pointing it out to them that Bush had 171 EOs in his first term, but it's OK to them that Bush used them, but are whining like the babies they are that Obama has used them, too (127 so far, in his first term).

And one conservative here (who will remain nameless as I'm sure she'll whine and whine) put a link to a guy named Malcolm who says Obama has had over 900 OEs! I sent her a link to the National Archives, Federal Register, so she could see the truth for herself, but she came back that it was all made up, if you can believe that...LOL!!!

You can tell them until you're blue in the face, and they still don't get it...

Polls are often rigged and if you don't watch it Obama will be elected by acclamiation presided over by ACORN. The Revolution is coming. Of you can't get a gun learn to make a Sling Shot and find some smooth stones.

Take one thoroughly convinced POTUS that his rights are above the law named Obama and mix with an apathetic electorate who either don't know they are losing their rights and/or simply don't care. Starting with Obamacare, moving on to Libya, and now 800,000 little Hispanics (up to age 32) and you have a president who is stealing the rights and freedoms from the American people while spitting on our governmental process.

And before you liberal progressive buffoons come to his aid about having to do it because the Republicans wouldn't go along with him, take a look at the two years that he had a Democratic Congress. He could have gotten anything he wanted, but the Communist-in-Chief let those Hispanic children languish until he could make political hay out of it.

Obama said in September that he didn't have the power to do exactly what he just did.
He's a lying bastard who has the LPs peeing in their pants in gratitude for taking their American rights away from them.

Seems Mr. "self deport" Romney can't answer whether he would rescind this order being asked 5 times by Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation Sunday. Today when Mitch McConnell was asked he said he would leave that up to candidate Romney to answer. LOL. Talk about being caught flat footed. Romney and Rubio mumble a long term solution would be better, but what pray tell would that be from the party that has been against any reform or the Dream Act for years? So glad the president took the elephant by the trunk on this, and let the GOP have their tantrum. 90% of hispanic voters approve of his order, and Obama leads with them 68-27 over Romney.

are you high on Obama Juice or OJ Simpson juice?
why would I do that(check on Mitt Romney's ancestry)?
not a republican; and by the way..the above video is from Obama's half-brother; why don't you check on Obama's ancestry..or you could watch the movie on it; produced by his half-brother about their family. the real FATHER..not the Nigerian as BHO proclaims.
oh; by the way pathetic one..not a birther....support who you want clown; but I as an American will never support the Worlds most Prominent COWARD.BARACK HUSSIEN OBAMA..once he sealed all his records by court order so no one can see them...no one should have ever voted for him..but you and others like you did............COWARDS never lead countries to prosperity; they lead them to failure....so vote for the COWARD; the panty-waist..he's yours..I have yet to decide what to do with my vote.....but never;ever, for a COWARD in 2012...COWARD

Coward? good, I take that to mean that Mitt won't be getting your vote seeing as how that coward has no spine and takes no position unless your favorite billionaires tell him what position to take. And enough with the lies about I'm not really a republican. Everyone knows that since your representative, Mr. Etch-a sketch, isn't the most desirable candidate, you've tried that I'm an independent lie to no avail. Your posts reek of teabaggerisms and your attitudes smell of racism towards the president. Yeah I said it and I'm sticking to it. The fact that you've come with these paltry videos shows that whether you like the label or not...YOU ARE A PROUD CARD CARRYING BIRTHER. So now deal with the consequences of your foolish ways! BTW...Bin Laden and the rest of Al-Qaeda, along with a few Somali pirates don't see Obama as a coward!

yawn - another scam by Obama ...long before the election people will figure out that this illegal action does not really "help" anyone ...it does not change the legal status of the people involved so its just another in a long line of failed public stunts by the spin-to-win libtard Obama ! So sad that he is willing to be taken to the SC for violating the constitution for such a limited bump in the polls ...the boy is a retard ! Good thing we are going to fire his ass very very soon-

You are exactly right. Even CNN, ABC, and the other liberal spin-masters don't have Almighty Obama with much in the way of numbers. Any lie will do for an LP, especially in light of Obama's support taking a powder. Proof of that is his desperate courting of so many special interest groups.

There is a huge difference between agreeing with the policy and agreeing that the President has the right to do this by Executive Order without authorizing legislation by Congress. The question of the pollsters was biased from the get-go.

Since the republicans in congress refuse to act on anything the president puts forward, obama did what he had to do - the right thing by issuing an executive order which by the way is totally legal and done by all presidents!

The outrage isn't about the executive order, as evidenced by them not being willing to answer whether or not they'd keep it going. Regardless how it got there, it's a good move, and the republicans can't deny that without their bigotry losing what little support they have left, and they can't support it without revealing themselves as hypocrites.
