New York-based Ener1 said it has been affected by competition from China and other countries.
Ener1 subsidiary EnerDel received a $118 million stimulus grant from the Energy Department in 2009, and Vice President Joe Biden visited the company's new battery plant in Indiana last year.
Ener1 is the third company to seek bankruptcy protection after receiving assistance from the Energy Department under the economic stimulus law. California solar panel maker Solyndra Inc. and Beacon Power, a Massachusetts energy-storage firm, declared bankruptcy last year. Solyndra received a $528 million federal loan, while Beacon Power got a $43 million loan guarantee.

HOW Many more of your Bundlers and sponsors did you siphon billions to (Obama) .. and when are their bankruptcies scheduled to appear on the dockets?
For the mathematically challenged that may read this post (liberals mainly) this is $689,000,000.00 (million) and counting.
Lets break this down to what actual good could have been done with this money.
100 struggling Americans could have been given $6,890.,000.00 each
1,000 struggling Americans could have been given $689,000.00 each
10,000 struggling American could have been given $68,900.00 each
100,000 struggling Americans could have been given $6,890.00 each.
Lets take away the first three scenarios of 100,1,000, and 10,000 Americans being helped.
Ask yourself, how far would $6,890.00 go to help you in your current situation? If you had that money to pay off a bill would you sleep a little better at night? Would your child perhaps get to finish those last few college classes?
Lets take this a step further and figure in money given to foreign countries that hate us in foreign aid. Using the number from 2010 of 8.3 billion it would break down like...

Lets take this a step further and figure in money given to foreign countries that hate us in foreign aid. Using the number from 2010 of 8.3 billion it would break down like this.
100 struggling Americans could have been given $83,000,000.00 each
1,000 struggling Americans could have been given $8,300,000.00 each
10,000 struggling American could have been given $830,000.00 each
100,000 struggling Americans could have been given $83,000.00 each.
1 million struggling American could have been given $8,300.00 each
The number of Americans that could be helped if money was spent at home grows if every wasteful dollar sent out of the country or spent on hair brain politically motivated ideas was put back into America. This infusion of money into America would jump start the economy immediately and have a truly significant effect unlike the $300.00 - $1200.00 BS stimulus rebate they gave us.
They will tell you we are obligated under UN Agreements and treaties we made with other countries to help them with money or that its the "right thing to do".........I never once was asked my opinion or given a chance to vote "yes or no" about who I would rather help with my tax dollars...foreign citizens or American citizens..........were you?
