Politics aside, does Barack Obama's race make him a more or less attractive candidate to you?

Barack Obama's race makes his battle for the presidency an uphill one, a poll suggests. According to the poll, Obama would receive about 6 more percentage points if there was no racial prejudice. The main reason is that 40 percent of white Americans have at least a partly negative view toward blacks. In an interview on "60 Minutes", Obama said that there may be people voting for him because of his race, potentially negating the effect of those who vote against him based on race. However, the former effect may be negligible, as Democrats typically get close to 90 percent of the African-American vote.

oldglow 2008/09/25 03:19:40Barack Obama's race is irrelevant in my view of him as a presidential candidate.+10Barack Obama is head and shoulders above Mccain in so many ways that if he were purple with pink polka dots, I would still vote for him. Who cares what color he is. I'm more interested in his intelligence, his calmness under pressure and his understanding of what it's like for those who are struggling to deal with our economy that is currently in shambles...thanks to eight years of the Bush administration.

No, it's NOT about race; it IS about politics...
You people are so sad.
President Clinton missed the opportunity to kill Ben Laden but there was no warnings of the future 9/11 at that time.
