Politico Declares Obama's Bald-Faced Student Loan Lie 'a Bit of Hyperbole'

Evil 1 2012/07/04 14:18:22

Because the media knows that the only way Obama can win national elections is by lying about practically everything, the media is absolutely a-okay with Obama lying.

Obama lies about his relationship with domestic terrorist, Bill Ayers. No problem.

Obama plants over 38 falsehoods in his autobiography. No problem.

Obama lies about his socialist New Party membership. No problem.

Obama lies about Romney's outsourcing. How can we help.

Now Obama's been busted telling a massive whopper to a demographic extremely important to his reelection and the media not only buries it, but downgrades it to "a bit of hyperbole."

Hot Air's Ed Morrissey makes the bust:

Two weeks ago, Barack Obama expressed frustration with the pace of negotiations on extending the interest-rate cap on student loans[:]

We’ve been talking about it for a long time. If Congress does not get this done in a week, the average student with federal student loans will rack up an additional $1,000 in debt over the coming year. If Congress fails to act, more than 7 million students will suddenly be hit with the equivalent of a $1,000 tax hike. And that’s not something that you can afford right now.

Wow — just how much debt is the average student carrying? If a move from 3.4% to 6.8% could add $1000 in interest each year, that must be one heck of a loan.

Politico actually did the math, and suggests that Obama might have engaged in a little, er, “hyperbole”:

That was a bit of hyperbole. According to the Department of Education, if rates double, the borrower paying back the average Stafford loan would owe an additional $1,041 over the 12-year life of the loan. That would break down to $87 more annually, or about $7 more a month.

Yes, you read that correctly. Obama tells young people that unless Congress doesn’t do what he tells them to do, a very important voting demographic will face an additional $1,000 in added interest a year to their students.

Only it's not $1,000 a year, it's $87 a year.

And rather than make Obama pay a price for his never-ending series of outrageous lies, Politico buries this particular lie in a story about something else and, through the magic of journOlist alchemy, declares turning $87 into $1,000 "a bit of hyperbole."

But this is the same corrupt Politico that not only gave Obama permission to continue lying about Romney's outsourcing, they are also repeating the lie.

You!

The President hasn't lied about anything. On the other hand, Romney did lie about his history of outsourcing thousands of American jobs, and given that we now know that he continued to be associated with Bain long after the date he claimed to have left, there is likely a lot more that Romney has lied about in his desperation to hide from his past as a destructive vulture capitalist.

The President did not say that people with student loans would incur an additional thousand dollars in debt in one year, but that their total debt burden would rise by at least that much. And he's right. If you graduated last year and went to a private college for four years you could very easily be carrying $50,000 in debt or more. 3% of $50,000 is $1500.00 annually. So for any student carrying over around $34,000 in debt, they will incur an additional $1000 in debt by a 3% rise in interest rates.

And if you're going to embarrass yourself at least find a source with an ounce of credibility instead of going back to Breitbart. You can't take any claim of bias or inaccuracy seriously when your source only exists based on the lies and criminal acts of its dead founder.

Maybe in your eyes he hasn't lied. But if you took off the rose colored glasses and looked at the facts and truth you would see that he has lied repeatedly. You can try to spin it anyway you like (as you alway do) but when it comes down to it a lie is a lie and Obama is an expert at telling them.

And again I see you like to bring up Brietbart. That is extremely funny in that you very seldom provide a source for the BS you post but expect everyone to believe it. And when you do have a source it is the Huffington Post or Addictinginfo.com. Now there are two stellar sources providing and unbiased viewpoint. Your hypocrisy is shining through brightly.

EVERY post I put up (with rare exceptions that I make clear are my own opinions) is properly sourced. I actually have for the most part given up on Huffington Post since they've started to be taken over by Right Wing corporatists, but Addicting Info is a decent source that provides actual sources for the information they present. But citing to Breitbart is like citing to Drudge or even to Fox - no attempt at accuracy, deliberate distortion of even uncontroversial issues, etc. Look at this very post - "bald faced lie"? "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction" is a bald faced lie. An economic projection well within an acceptable interpretation of established fact is not.

And your opinions have become blatant BS. And you used the HuffPo and Addictinginfo the majority of the time as sources. So calling out someone for using Brietbart while you use those biased, ridiculous sources is blatant hypocrisy. Again you can try to spin anyway you want but it's not working. Furthermore if you would take the time to research your examples you have given you will find them to be totally inaccurate. But again you wouldn't do that as it will showcase that fact that everything you post as of late is nothing but pure unadulterated BS. And if they are your opinions (laughing at that one) you really don't have much of value to say do you?

As I said, I have used HuffPo very rarely since their corporate takeover. And while Addicting Info's contributors certainly do tend to be on the liberal side of most issues, their posts are properly sourced and the facts they claim in support of their articles are accurate, unlike Breitbart or Drudge or TheBlaze who truly do make it up as they go along.

And I believe nothing you say anymore (and based on your past you are lying through your teeth about the HuffPo). And it is your opinon that Addicting Info is a viable source. I completely disagree and that is my opinon. But I never stated that to you until you started your ridiculous whining about Brietbart. So I stand by my statement that your complaining about Brietbart while using Addicting Info as a viable source is hypocrisy at its best. Your assertation that Brietbard, Drudge or The Blaze (whom I've never heard of) makeup their information is again your opinion and it is nothing but BS.

At this time I will state what I did on a previous post. Your pitiful remarks about a dead man prove just how low you have gotten. So at this time I will not even attempt to have a worthwhile discussion (which has been impossible as of late) with you as I will not lower myself to your repugnant level. You stated Brietbart was an evil man. Someone who speaks ill of the dead is about as evil and low as someone can get. You have now reached a new and more repugnant and pathetic level. Goodbye.

Seems like its you folks way over there on the extreme right who have mastered the "keep repeating the lie" motif. That's the only reason Fox exists - to constantly repeat lies in hopes that there are still people stupid enough to believe them. The President hasn't lied about anything.

I'm beginning to agree with Savage daily. They are proving that "Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder" just as his book says. Their rants and the BS they post has become ridiculous.
