Two photos released on Facebook on Sunday are the clearest images of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, since she was shot in Tucson, Arizona in January. The photos were released in an attempt to satisfy public curiosity. But will it work?

Set to be released as soon as this month from her rehabilitation center, the congresswoman hoped to dampen paparazzi interest in her condition and
appearance, Karamargin said.

In April, rumors surfaced that a $200,000 bounty was out for photos of Giffords in recovery.

“This was Mark and Gabby’s decision,” Karamargin said. “There is intense interest in the Congresswoman’s appearance and on the threshold of her going to outpatient treatment, we thought this was a good way to satisfy public curiosity.”

There are still many questions regarding the state of Giffords' cognitive ability, speech, and political future, that will keep the public interested in the Congresswoman's recovery.

YES, NO ,WTF .I was saddened when she got shot.I was happy to hear about her recovery,I was angry when some of you idiots blamed Sarah Palin for the shooting,I was glad to see her husband(Gabrielle's) go back and fly the Shuttle again.What's wrong with people? Who needs to see pictures of a still convalescing Gabrielle Gifford ?And while we're at it, i wish they stopped showing me the picture of the lying murderess Casey Anthony.

Probably not. The public has an insatiable appetite for this kind of thing. My question is: Who is handling the business affairs of her elected position? They should have a special election to fill the position she left behind and perform the duties of her office that she can no longer perform.

A little curiosity in normal since most people are interested in her healing progress. She looks pretty good considering what she has gone through.

For crying out loud! Is her first name Paris? I didn't know the public had any "curiosity" over her. That's why she hasn't been in the press at all for a very long time. Now that she's ready for her closeup, we're supposed to be interested? This seems to be another media fabrication to sell ads.

Don't get me wrong. I hope she's doing well. I wish her the best. It looks like she's got a nice smile, and everything. Are we done now? No offense at all, but I'm really not going to think about this again - until someone sticks it in my face to tell me that I want to know.

I guess they'll satify some people, but picture aren't the worry I have about her. I have no doubt they will use this, claiming again, that all guns need to be gone from all homes. They won't give up and realize that people kill people, not a gun that may sit next to a table...someone has to pick it up. We all have a right to protect ourselves. If Gifford had a gun at the time,or someone near her, perhaps she wouldn't have been shot. It was terrible what she had to go through because of one lone, sick idoit. This is going to be their excuse to try and take our guns from us. Don't ever forget, Hitler did this and the people had no protection...DO NOT FORGET THAT!

I wasn't curious. But I do think she needs to resign from congress. Her district has been without a rep for all this time, no disrespect to her but she cannot do the job since she has issues with putting sentences together and has trouble locating words. THEY, the voters. DESERVE a representative voice in CONgress.

Public curiosity is just a phrase the media hides behind, this so-called "public curiosity" is fueled by the media, they know it will sell more headlines and is good for their business.

They have no regard for personal privacy, the Giffords have been through enough, let this woman heal and recover in peace. If she decides to go back to work as a representative of the people in her district, then it's fair to take all the photos they want, but only while she's in the public eye.

Another thing. How do you know no one was wounded like her? What were the other wounds? We don't know because the focus is on Giffords wound.

The media has portrayed Giffords as the supreme victim. First the media told us it was a White supremacist who shot the Jewish Congresswoman. Then we find out that the shooter Jared Loughner himself was Jewish. This entire event is screwed up and completely distorted.

Apology accepted. This is sodahead, and I've run into many, many cold blooded conservatives on here. Now I don't believe all conservatives are like that because I debate with some very civil and respectful conservatives on here. But they are very few. Now I'm not saying that liberals are different, because they're not. BUT! I get more disrespect and name calling from conservatives. I'm of neither party, I refuse to lable myself with either of those groups. I consider myself an American stuck in the middle.
