Buying gold is probably a very bad choice. When the banks start collapsing, the government will confiscate it to "shore them up". Buying silver is equally as bad because when the price reaches a certain level, new mines will open and old mines will reopen. You had better have food, shelter and a way to protect them and your family. A still to produce your own alcohol for fuel might be a wise investment also.
