PETA wants a ban on Pit Bulls. Do you agree?

I agree, Peta is wrong. My family and I recently adopted a pit bull/dalmatian from the pound, and when we brought him home we knew right away that he had been mistreated. When you get to know these animals and show love to them they will return the love to you. I may not know a lot about pit bulls but i do know a lot about dogs, and if you are kind to them then they will be kind to you. So don't go banning pit bulls, ban Peta!!!

Peta is wrong. i used to be a supporter but they have gotten a lot of things wrong. my sister has 4 pitties and i have one, and they are just sweethearts.

I'm not a PETA supporter, I do work with and donate to no-kill groups. Having said that, I understand the thinking of some animal-lovers believing by banning breeding will prevent future torture and eventual extermination of so many of these precious animals. I too disagree that this ultimately not the way to resolve the problem. People whom abuse and create a aggressive animal should do time and pay financial penalties. Society does not take the treatment of animals serious.

Well said. I see this as being anagolous to the notion of banning guns or swords. These items are merely tools, and they can be dangerous when ill-used by human hands. It's the people who misuse them that need to be punished.

they need to ban in-breeding, minors from being owners, and stupid people who make the pits bad! we cant have babies from our brothers, or our dads!! well were not suppose to any way, so what makes people think we can do this to our dogs? i have a blue pit, shes my baby!! she sits on the porch with the neibors cats!! sounds like a crazed beast, scared, yah right!! shes a little over a year old, and has no mean bone in her body!! she even let some one steal her!! its the way their raised, train them to attack, and they will!! train them to love, and they will love you forever!!

My son has a pitt and she is a sweetie. People must treat all animals with love and care or the potential is to have an aggressive result. Not the fault of the animal. Bless you.

i dont know if i would . . . i would cause they are meen dogs but i wouldnt cause if youh train them they can be nice so i would just say only ban them if they arent trained

PETA <<<< Is a Joke. They never get it right. They should go after those who abuse the pit bulls and those people should be executed. Going after the dog is lame. We own 2 pit bulls, and 2 Australian Shepherds and all are great dogs. Lovable dogs. Banning the pit bull would mean that PETA would have the right to take our 2 pit bulls even though they are loved and well trained. Personally PETA should just go away.

PETA thinks the answer is banning them since "These days they are kept for protection by almost every drug dealer and pimp in every major city and beyond" says Ingrid Newkirk, President of PETA. So, these people are going to dictate the future of ALL Pitbulls across the country? She thinks this will stop them? Is that a joke? Does illegal prostitution stops pimps? Does illegal drugs stop drug dealers? They will only move on to another breed (your breed) and of course they will continue to own Pitbulls... Why would they abide by that law? I mean breaking the law has never stopped them before!
This is only the start my friends. We have let them get their foot in the door with our pets and our freedom of choice. If we let them in any further it will be your breed and I hate to say it but it has already started! In fact PETA does not want us to have domestic dogs AT ALL!!

No !!!!!!!!Have you heard or seen how they handle bully dogs under the bsl ban?? They go to the vets and take records of Known or suspected pitbull owners, then go to their homes take the dogs put them to sleep in the front yard and then throw then in the truck.

What kind of life or death is that? We dont even do that to the bodies of all the people on death row!

If they want to target one specific breed of dog,then I'd like to see a ban on PETA donations!Let's see how effective they'd be in their efforts after that!

if you have any dog since they were puppies u can train them to be whatever you want pitbulls cannot control how they are raised they have no idea what is right or wrong unless there owner teaches them so just like a child!!!!

I honestly don't like pitbulls, and for once, I think PETA is right. I haven't like pitbulls since two chased me down the road and tried to attack me. I was lucky enough to have a car honk and scare them away. It is not just the way they're trained or brought up, either, because I know the owner of the pitbulls that attacked me, and I've seen him with his dogs. They seem so sweet and nice around him, but as soon as they're out of his sight, they can turn on you. I think that pitbulls should only be owned by the police or military or whatever, or not at all.

..What makes pitbulls so dangerous is that there unpredictable! Trained or untrained they can turn on you and easily over power you I've seen it happen, so STOP all This save the pitbulls BS@# I don't Believe a word of it. And if someday you so-called BABIES rip your face off don't say we didn't warn. Pitbulls Are the ONLY breed of dog known to attack and KILL humans. PIT OWNERS ARE THE IGNORANT ONES ;)

How about we put more effort into stopping the people who raise the pit bulls to be that way?

My uncle has a deaf pit bull named Sophie and she is the sweetest dog you will ever meet, because she was trained RIGHT.

its the people who train pits to fight are the ones to blame. dogs cant help whats in their nature. as a former pit bull owner i can say that pits are one of the most lovable dogs on the planet if you raise them normally. i have friends who raise their pit the same way i do and they have never attacked anyone or any thing except a pillow, a stick, or a rope. Peta needs to check themselves.

PETA is a joke! They are nothing but lying trouble makers. I love animals, but they do nothing to protect animals and accually kill more animals than they save. Look it up. They euthinize more animals than they adopt out. Yes even peta will kill animals. Hipacrites! I feel sorry for the poor saps that believe and join them.

Well how about we ban people? How do you just decide to ban a dog breed? These PETA people are raving lunatics. Why don't they think of ways at teaching the public how to be more dog friendly and the do's and don'ts of being a pit bull owner. No the breed shouldn't be banned. People have to take responsibility for the things they train their dogs to do.

Pitbulls are only sometimes bad because people torture them and force them to fight other dogs.Pitbulls are gentle dogs if you dont fight them and torture them so PETA shouldn't kill all pitbulls.Also even if they're bad they can get rehabilitation.So please PETA hear my plea.

I agree w/ certain things peta does and some of the stuff they stand for...but this isn't one of them...I understand where their coming from but if we ban and get rid of pit bulls there will just be another breed that replaces them. Unfortunatley there will always be bad people and since we can not legally ban jerks this problem can never be solved by a ban.

Unfortunately, passage of time over the years have shown how dangerous these dogs are...the attacks from these dogs come from mean owners and nice owners. It is time to face reality. Have them all sterilized and allowed to live out their lives. Enough is enough.
