PETA has a new "Save the Whales" billboard that takes aim at fat women. The billboard depicts a fat lady in a bikini, with the tag line "Save the Whales. Lose the Blubber: Go Vegetarian." The PETA billboard is all over Florida, a city with lots of bikini-wearing women. PETA claims the billboard is just to remind those who are struggling to lose weight, that going vegetarian can be an effective way shed pounds. Many are offended, saying the billboard is "fat-shamming" and has no empathy for others.

PETA will not stop until Animals have more respect and better treatment than women. If they are so concerned with the ethical treatment of animals why are they degrading women and overtly objectifying them? Comparing a woman to a whale? I think that Chris Brown would make a great spokesman, after all he doesn't beat animals just women.

There’s also this thing called “self-accountability”, in this case it would be for the overweight people that are all worked up over this advertisement to accept their responsibility and take care of their bodies. PETA could care less if you’re fat, they just want you to quit eating animals. The reason people are offended is because PETA is pointing out that they can do something about their weight. The real problem is that people aren’t willing to do so.
But all the billboard is saying is that vegetarianism is a much healthier lifestyle.
I am sitting here eating my juicy steak, contemplating the question, and yes I believe it is directly referring to "obese people" as "whales"...
I have a better billboard "Don't be an anorexic judgmental asshole, eat a steak!"
fat chicks....and they ARE vegetarian (except Orcas' which are a species of dolphin).
An advertisement targeting fat people?
Is this really something we're willing to discuss right now?
Really?
You'd think we'd be a little more concerned about keeping the damn country afloat.
And not just going vegetarian alone can help people lose weight. it takes alot more work than that.
There is plenty of vegetarian junk food these days. If you choose to go vegetarian and you didn't eat healthy when you ate meat chances are you are not going to eat any healthier just b/c you are a vegetarian.
I'm glad I'm a vegetarian and wish more people were...but I'm realistic about it...it's not a miracle diet.
It says "Save the Whales"
WTF
Cuz I'm sure all fat people just LOVE to be likened to whales!
