Hey, I'm in the workplace (the fortunate lot, we are). And I see people all the time who want the handout and do not want a job. AND they aren't ashamed of that. They feel entitled to it. And given a choice, they would take the mailbox over the mop.

Does anyone REALLY know what the so-called American dream IS?! I thought it was "Life, Liberty, and, the Pursuit of happiness." That's what the Founding Fathers MEANT when they signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776. But, people like THIS jack-ass has a different view of what the "American Dream" is. Their idea of the American Dream is to work your butt off to pay high taxes that goes into THEIR pockets, to be used as THEY see fit. To line the pockets of the super rich!

What else would you expect Lyin Ryan to say? He has no use for the elderly, the poor, the sick, the uneducated. He worships a godless atheist who believes selfishness is a virtue. No wonder the teabugers love him, they all worship the same godless atheist. Their church is the church of ATM. That's all they give a damn about.

Just watched a video of a woman on welfare. She has now gotten over thirty free cell phones. She had about three in her hand one she had just gotten, and 6 in her purse, and thirty or more at home. Lot of these phones are sold to drug dealers by these people. Free cash. It is ridiculous when people who are paying their bills and their taxes. Living with no government aid. And can't afford the luxury item of a cell phone. Yet people on the dole have them. This is such a disgraceful waste by the government. Started out costing about a million a year now it cost over 24 million a year. Ridiculous.

Why would these people ever want to get off welfare. Free phones and service. Free computers and service. Food stamps, subsidized housing. All for sitting on your can watching TV. There is no way they will ever get a job and jeopardize the easy dependent life. The democrats lock them in. So they can depend on their vote to keep on suppling them, like their own supply of addicts. Freebies is the drug.

Like the immortal words of Lyndon Johnson when justifying welfare policies: “I’ll have those n*ggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” — Lyndon B. Johnson .

They are in slavery, they just don't know it. Of course they make white slaves, and hispanic slaves too. And now even Somalis and Middle Eastern muslim slaves. In that way they are an equal opportunity party.

Sorry... your story is 100% BS... The government will subsidize lifeline to anyone working or not who meets qualification guidelines. Every one who has a phone pays into the lifeline program it's not tax based. The Government SSI, SSDI, Social Security Retirement, Medicaid, Medicare, Medical or local/state welfare agencies... None give out unlimited phones computer etc. The cell phones people get are cheap throwaways that the "pay as you go" wireless carriers regularly give away for nothing if you buy a $20 activation card. Furthermore on the lifeline cell phones, the disabled get only provide with 200 mins a month and with a landline limited local calling only. These are emergency phone for 911 etc. From what you say, you would rather send these people to be disabled slaves eating cat food so your taxs could be a bit lower?!

However the wealthy, The gas companies who charge over $4 a gallon, The Big banks, The defence contractors, etc have unlimited tax loopholes to dodge paying their fair share.

You wrote your post to this story like a pro, very well and hit on some very emotionally charged American history. Very well thought out, It almost seems as if you are the very same inbreed hick leeches you are shooting darts at... But in reality you are posting cloaked and on beha...

You are the lowlife scum here, bashing the disabled who have worked all their lives and paid into the system you and your 1% blood money whores are trying to pull out from under them, You and your power greedy wealthy friends always seem to pick women and the disabled who are the most voiceless victims you can find to set up your BS patriarchal privilege soapboxes on. Those who live well below poverty level of which 30% are blind, 40% are para/quadriplegics, heart patients etc. You remind me of the snobs in school who back in the 70's called the mentally handicapped "Retards."

Pour pour you... I'm so sorry that you are upset about the price of gas to feed your gas guzzling SUV, while most real working americans are struggling just to afford driving to freaking work for your empire. It must be really tough being part of the privileged and gratefully narrow minded, woman hating pro-lifers group.

Sorry this govt. shuts you off the minute you make enough to barely scrape a living. But is still a poor living. They discourage success that way. You will lose benefits if you get a job. Even when it isn't really enough to live on. This keeps them on the dole.

And the 30 percent Ryan talked about and the 47% Romney talked about. Are people who do not work at all. Not people who work have a job and pay taxes. unlike Biden and Obama spout.

And if you don't think 80% of all taxes paid to the govt. by rich people is not enough. Well Romney wants to keep the tax cuts in place (which help us) . And he wants to take away the loopholes and deductions for the rich. Which increases the amount they pay in taxes. So Romney has your back there. But the rich in congress and the rich Obama don't want their loopholes and deductions gone. They know that simply taxing the rich does nothing. They have many ways around it. But the concept of it sounds good to you.

I have never bashed the disabled. Ever. My sister-in-has MS and I want her to get SS, she can't work she can't even walk. The people we are talking about never worked and are not disabled. People who stand in lines for a living. No percentage of the people noted were disabled. Your attack is nonsensical. And completely off subject. Like ...

The price of gas effects everything in our economy from production to delivery. Job destruction is the problem here. Gas for my car is not the point.

I am far from privileged. At best lower middle class. I live within my means. No cell phone or many luxury items that the people who do not work, now enjoy free. Unlike that woman with approximately 40 cell phones all with service. Who has no job. I had to pay for my computer and service. And do you realize that 1,100 prisoners in Chicago Illinois prisons drew unemployment. To the tune of about 2 million this year. Get informed. There is no getting that money back. They are unemployed and already taken care of by the govt. they don't pay taxes either. Or do any of the requirements for unemployment. Oh yeah I must hate women, since I am one. No one hates women like the left.

Wake up and get out of the liberal cesspool.

Aren't these 2 guys Mitt twit, and lyan Ryan, part of the eletist wealthy, and lyan Ryan went to college on the government dole?? So why do these 2 seem to know what's good for the 98%??? These 2 have no idea how the rest of us live, particularly the poor. He thinks 30% are just moochers. I wonder if he includes himself for using S.S to go to college??? I'm sure he would say he deserved that money, but the rest of the 30% don't.

I have to agree. I can believe that 30% of Americans want welfare instead of the American dream. Me personally, I'd rather have the American dream.

Only a fool would believe that any normal person would rather not work and receive a handout instead of a pay check. I personally know "NONE" who fit this description, hell, their are elderly people I know who has been trying to work. These rich fools have no idea about America's people period. This country was founded on the back of many and no uncaring brat can tell me otherwise.

I hate how they act like the American dream is being ultra wealthy and owning a business. I chose to go out of a higher paying field and into teaching. I couldn't be happier. I don't make a lot of money because I still a fairly new teacher, obviously I'm not living the American dream by their standards.

They don't seem to realize they are in the 'Electronic Age'. Corporate welfare costs more than aid to people, in all the groups.

FACT: Together, AFDC (Aid to Families with Dependent Children) and Food Stamps are by far the largest items of the welfare budget. Yet in 1992, AFDC formed only 1 percent of the combined state and federal budgets. Food stamps also took up 1 percent. If you expand the definition of "welfare" to include all one-way transfers of benefits for which no services or repayment are required in exchange (such as student grants, school lunches and pensions for needy veterans) then welfare takes up only 12 percent of the combined budgets.

What is creating a financial hardship on working- and middle-class Americans? The rising percentage of American wealth gravitating to the top 1% of the population.

For example if you want to know who the real "Welfare Queens" are check out Romney's 10 million+ dollar federal bailout in 1990! That's enough for around 1,000 welfare queens! He didn't build that! What he did build was bankruptcy for 22% of the companies he "helped" during his tenure at Bain.

So Ryan picked 30% rather than 47% -- this is old news. What I find interesting is that no one knows more than at most a few hundred people individually. So people who want to generalize about 100 million to 150 million Americans obviously have no basis in their experience for such claims. These comments say more about the person making the statement than about the state of American society.

What benefit does one gain by having a larger government? What specifically does Obama or any democrat gain by having a larger government? The monies collected get dispersed, so they can't want a larger government to make money off of.

    Fair enough.

Since all taxes are redistribution (money taken from some and given to others) is there a case for responsible, or even 'good' redistribution?

During Reagan's presidency there was a massive redistribution of wealth upward. Was this good for the country?

I know people who have lost their jobs and have taken lower paying jobs just to support their families. Times are tough for all, but I believe everyone still wants to live the American Dream, find a decent paying job to help support their families and not rely on the government for their basic needs like food & shelter.
