Patriotic Resistance -- Thomas Sowell

I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama.

Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I "AM NOT" uniting behind Obama. However, I promise to give our country the devoted loyalty of a patriot.

I will respect the Office which he holds, and I will acknowledge his abilities as an orator and wordsmith and pray for him, BUT that is it.

I have begun today to see what I can do to make sure he is a one-term President!

Why am I doing this? It is because I do not share Obama's vision or value system for America;

I do not share his Abortion beliefs;

I do not share his radical Marxist's concept of re-distributing wealth;

I do not share his stated views on raising taxes on those who make $150,000+ (the ceiling has been changed three times since August);

I do not share his view that America is arrogrant;

I do not share his view that America is not a Christian Nation;

I do not share his view that the military should be reduced by 25%;

I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than American Citizens who need help;

I do not share his views on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;

I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and Israel is our enemy who should give up any land;

I do not share his spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);

I do not share his beliefs on how to re-work the healthcare system in America ;

I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East, and certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran .

Bottom line, my America is vastly different from Obama's, and I have a higher obligation to my Country and my God to do what is right!

For eight (8) years, the Liberals in our Society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility, but for their celebrity status, have attacked President Bush, his family, and his spiritual beliefs!

They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country! They have portrayed my America as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant!

They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years;

They have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country;

They have made every effort to remove the name of God or Jesus Christ from our Society;

They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code;

They have attacked one of the most fundamental of all Freedoms, the right of free speech!

Unite behind Obama? Never!

I am sure many of you who read this think that I am going overboard, but I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are the embodiment of Evil!

PRESIDENT BUSH made many mistakes during his Presidency, and I am not sure how history will judge him. However, I believe he weighed his decisions in light of the long established Judeo-Christian principles of our Founding Fathers!!!

Majority rules in America , and I will honor the concept; however, I will fight with all of my power to be a voice in opposition to Obama and "his goals for America ."

I am going to be a thorn in the side of those who, if left unchecked, will destroy our country! Any more compromise is more defeat!

I pray that the results of this election will wake up many who have sat on the sidelines and allowed the Socialist-Marxist anti-God crowd to slowly change so much of what has been good in America !

"Error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it." (Thomas Jefferson)

God bless you and God bless our Country!!!
You!

    God bless you. I agree with you 100%. I can't believe that so many good American citizens can quietly stand by while we let this administration destroy what we and our forefathers have fought and died for.I am scared to death and mad as hell about it.

    Thomas Sowell echos the sentiment of my family. I know very few people in agreement with any one of the current administrations efforts to "change" our nation into a 3rd world country. As I understand Pres. Obama's reasons, it is so we can be like other nations? This madness has got to stop and we must stand up and be proactive. Now is the time to make a "change" beginning with local state and congressional elections. The power of the vote has not been eliminated (yet). Let's not be all talk.

    Very well put Mr. Sowell. Your right on track with what obama has said and done. I would like to help you be a thorn in his side until the man is out of office and no longer a threat to this great country! I also feel that what he is doing is making our country weak, bringing it to an all time low. If he is left unchecked, he will ruin this country. Your also right about him being evil. He is evil in every fashion only the devil could imagine.

    Mr. Sowell "Our Founding Fathers" believed your ancestors and progeny were less than human. Thomas Jefferson believed the same. As I perused the litany of your diatribe it just appears to be the same "conservative" arguments rehashed with no justification of your beliefs. It appears you are angry because you believe your Harvard degree has been sullied by affirmative action. If so please don't allow that to stymy your ability to be logical and reasonable.

    How wrong you are! Here is what "Our Founding Fathers," including Thomas Jefferson, believed about slavery:

    "It were doubtless to be wished, that the power of prohibiting the importation of slaves had not been postponed until the year 1808, or rather that it had been suffered to have immediate operation. But it is not difficult to account, either for this restriction on the general government, or for the manner in which the whole clause is expressed. It ought to be considered as a great point gained in favor of humanity, that a period of twenty years may terminate forever, within these States, a traffic which has so long and so loudly upbraided the barbarism of modern policy; that within that period, it will receive a considerable discouragement from the federal government, and may be totally abolished, by a concurrence of the few States which continue the unnatural traffic, in the prohibitory example which has been given by so great a majority of the Union. Happy would it be for the unfortunate Africans, if an equal prospect lay before them of being redeemed from the oppressions of their European brethren!"
    -- James Madison, Federalist Paper No. 42

    I fully agree and am truly disheartened by the "Hollywood' atmosphere surrounding this administration. Bye the way, you do not salute withou being in uniform or wearing your "lid". It's called military courtesy and is taught the first week of basic training.

    True, we never saluted in the Navy or Marines unless we were "covered" and we were never "covered" indoors unless we were "under arms," which included wearing a duty belt when you were on watch.

    As a long-time fan of Thomas Sowell, this does not sound like him, although I agree with what's said. How do you verify authenticity?

    I'm a long-time fan too, and I usually get his columns off TownHall.com but I don't recall where I got this, and no, I didn't authenticate it. I tried to check it out but found nothing on it .

    After your question I went back and again attempted to authenticate the quote. I found it on several websites attributed to Thomas Sowell, but always in the form of an email. I again checked snopes and, while they do address a number of quotes attributed to Sowell (finding some of them falsely so) they do not address this particular quote. However, looking back at the quote, I believe that a large part of it does sound like Sowell's style:

    "I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America to unite behind Obama.

    Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I "AM NOT" uniting behind Obama. However, I promise to give our country the devoted loyalty of a patriot.

    I will respect the Office which he holds, and I will acknowledge his abilities as an orator and wordsmith and pray for him, BUT that is it."

    To me this passage, especially the first sentence, sounds just like Thomas Sowell's style, though I suspect that the "all caps" may have been added by someone for emphasis.

    Don't know who this man is but he has pretty much summed up our current government. I, like him, can't unite behind a person who thinks when he managed to worm his way into office somehow that it wasn't a presidency but a dictatorship. We the people ..............better unite but not behind this man (BO). Against him.

    We can do several things----In 2010 GET rid of ALL those in DC that we can AND give a mandate to those we send AND LEAVE in place--CONGRESS to INVESTIGATE OBAMA and his ANTI-AMERICAN ties.
    IT should be MADE clear if the NEW CONGRESS doesn't do this then WE the PEOPLE would assume the reins of OUR Government--with or without them!

    At a bare minimum there should be public hearings on each and every radical, Marxis "czar" Obama has appointed and their anti-American, anti-Constitution advocacy in the past and present. The statements of his current crop of "czars" who will control our medial and limit the right to freedom of the press and freedom of speech border on the treasonous.
