"I hope that God strikes Barack Obama with brain cancer so he can die like Ted Kennedy
and I hope it happens today," he told MyFOXPhoenix on Sunday. He called
his message "spiritual warfare" and said he does not condone killing.

Another piece o garbage on our earth. This is exactly why we must keep religion out of politics! Hopefully, cancer will choose him.

He doesn't condone killing, so he asked god to do it for him?

    Sound logic.

Seems to be a fairly common practice among some who identify themselves as Christian.

1st one is hogwash, it's nothing more than liberals TRYING to put a twist on something, which means 2 and 3 I won't even read because of 1.

    Brilliant!!!

I haven't heard of a reverend praying for Zimmerman's death. I'm not saying it didn't happen, though.

You are interpreting that wrong. What he meant was to avoid doing evil. Not to pray for the death of people you believe are evil.

The interpretation of that particular Bible quote is rather obvious. Some are confusing to understand. That one is not.

The Bible is not written to be interpreted.

How am I supposed to read it, then? I don't speak Hebrew, Aramaic, or Greek. So I'm forced to read someone else's translation of it.

It is. I might try to learn those languages one day (I already speak 3 languages), but until then, I have to interpret the English version the best I can.

Many of the original words can't be translated. If you read "the bible" then you know you might read a chapter or verse today and get one meaning but when you read it a year or month later the meaning you get might be different. It will depend on you thoughts, needs, at the time of reading. What were the thoughts, needs of King James' translators ? They wrote thou shall not kill when the original text says thou shaly not commit murder. In the old testament God said that if a thief comes into your home, strike him down and if he should die you won't be judged. New testament Jesus says let every man own a sword, he who cannot afford a sword, let him sell his robes so that he might buy a sword. Do you think Jesus meant for men to use swords to peel apples or maybe he meant for righteous men to defend or even kill if necessary to defend themselves. That is a long way from the translated thou shall not kill.

I don't believe that the King James translators are the only translators of the Bible. They were paid by King James to translate the Bible according to his own personal views.

Regardless of whether God's real or not, this man is in a position where he can influence people's very real actions. Below, for example, is the last sentence of the linked news report:

"The Anderson sermon also drew concern after it was reported that one man carrying an assault rifle outside the Phoenix arena where Obama spoke was a member of Anderson's church."

my sentiments exactly. I am about as Anti Obama as they come. But praying for him to get cancer is just messed up. He should pray for him to have a change of heart and mind.I suffer from MS and migraines and I would not even wish that on Obama.Because I don't like the thought of anybody else suffering no matter how much I disaprove of them.He has a wife and 2 daughters I can not imagine how that would affect them to have him die of cancer.Never have him walk them down the when they get married.Never have their children meet their Grandpa. The endless chain of events that would last a lifetime for those loved ones left behind.
