Parents Poised to Take Over Failing SoCal School: Best for Kids?

California's public schools have faced serious operational challenges due to the state's budget woes. The parents decided they had enough with the poor performance of their local public school. They filed enough petitions under the "parent trigger" to take over the school.

The judge accepted the petition and ordered the school district to hand the school over to the parents. State Senator Gloria Romero (Democrat 24th District) drafted the "parent trigger" law in 2011 to help families in "chronically underperforming" schools.

KTLA.COM reports:
ADELANTO, Calif. -- In an historic move, parents in the community of Adelanto will become the first in the nation to seize control of a failing public school under a controversial "parent trigger" law.

What a great Idea ! Home Schooling with the resources of the government .
The "EXPERTS " have failed , results based education similar to free market forces .
Deliver superior service or be removed from the position , It's all good.

Sure that's why Obama is pulling away in all the latest polls and Romney is still disliked by the majority of the American people. Guess you don't keep up. Not a good idea spending all your time on right wing nut sites and ignoring the reality of what's going on around you. You might die of a stroke on election day if you don't wake up and realize that not everyone in this country is a deluded wing nut who hates Obama.

I 100% agree, I've told my kids that if ever a teacher gives them an opinion and not something directly from a curriculum book not to believe it and to tell me about it so first we can discuss it ourselves and 2nd so that I can confront the teacher to tell them that their job isn't to give their opinions and views but to teach what's in the books.

I disagree Look at the Liberal Education now! Rewritten Textbooks and distorted Liberal views of History, Promotion of Gay Sex in the school, keeping the government out and Parents running the school...... What's wrong with that?

So many reasons, so little time.
I could write a book, but is that really necessary?
The fact you believe teaching Gay sex in schools is fine, you're ok with rewriting history books to favor a liberal message as opposed to the truth, and the people who are responsible for failing schools should continue to operate those schools speaks volumes and further supports my original statement.

If further explanation is required, my I suggest a English translator.

First off I don't know any schools teaching that Gay sex is fine. When I was in high school we certainly never talked about Gay sex. In fact that only time we actually even talked about Gay rights was in college government, where it should be talked about.
Also i'm not for rewriting history books, and I don't think anyone is for rewriting history books. In fact that last time I checked it was christian conservatives who were all for rewriting the science books and putting in things like intelligent design. Also there is no one person responsible for falling schools, and no liberal is going to support a person who is only going to help a school fail in the first place. The issue of schools failing is far more complex then that.

Well to respond i'm not saying that putting parents in charge wouldn't work, In fact I know several people who are home schooled who are doing quite alright with themselves. However I do disagree with your position that education has become a liberal thing. I finished up with high school not too long ago and myself never noticed or found the schools around me to have liberal biases per say, although i'm a liberal myself. I can't speak for the rest of my country but I can say from my own experience and the experience of those I know that live in other areas (some who are conservative) that while I have not come across a "rewritten textbook" in my education, i've seen them in the past and I believe that conservatives do it just as much as liberals. I also don't really believe that school promotes Gay Sex, but rather Gay rights, which is something I think everyone should promote. Even if you are a Christian or someone who personally sees a homosexual as a sinner, I still believe that civil rights are important in the country and that you can't judge someone or bash something because they may promote something you disagree with. Sorry for the long post.

Thank you for you're honesty. We differ a little but that's a good thing and I post long too some times. I get long winded too much this time you are lucky ! hahahahahh

Anyway... There is a proper place for everything, I just think that History for example should leave out Bias and report as it is and let students decide.
I can accept Evolution idea as long as equal with other views and i have been in School and College long enough to know that that is not possible under many of the tentured professors and right out attack and abuse those with different views I know from experience.

Gay rights needs to be a private thing and has no right to be in school other than pointing out health risks and that is where we may disagree. but anyway

Thank you for you're reply. Have a Wonderful evening and i am sure we will pass each other later

You know, I think it is Great when Parents are so committed that they are willing to do do what they did. I will be interested to see how they do.

BY THE WAY. Do you know that STATS actually show that Home school kids actually are testing higher than those in public school, so there is something there to look at.

Schools need Competition and that is good for business and school too.
It's good for the schools and the students too.
Teacher's Unions don't like it because they lose power but what is the first goal? The Teacher or the student?

I do agree with you in some sense, although I would like to know exactly were you found that home school kids are testing higher. Im curious about where you got that information, not disagreeing though.
