Pacu, Testicle-Eating Fish Species, Caught In Lake Lou Yaeger In Illinois: Do Dangerous Fish Stories Make You Uncomfortable?

You!

It started almost 30 years ago, in 1975, with "Jaws." This movie had me wonder so many times if swimming in the ocean was a good idea after all. Well, here's another story -- except this one is true! A fish that eats testicles has been discovered in a lake in Illinois -- and has already bitten off the testicles of two fishermen!

HUFFINGTONPOST.COM reports:
When biologists say the pacu fish eats nuts, they may be correct in more ways than one. The pacu, a toothy fish that can weigh up to 55 pounds, has been spotted in Lake Lou Yaeger in Illinois, KSDK reports.

It's called a Congo Tiger Fish. I've swam Alcatraz to San Francisco's Aquatic Park and the Golden Gate Bridge from Fort Point to Marin County and I'm a bit queasy about the man in the gray tuxedo. There are probably dozens of other reasons why I wouldn't swim in the Congo river but this is the only one I need.

OMG! It looks like a gene-crossing experiment gone bad. Please tell me there are none inside the US, and that they die in cold water, < 50 degrees F. By man in the gray tuxedo you mean Great Whites?

Actually I'm not, but when you're in 60 degree water in heavy swells with occasional freighters plowing through at 20 knots you're too busy to think about fish. I swim with a buddy that moves at about the same speed as me and I asked the kayak escort to stay close.

Edited to add: Some of the guys I swim with do the pier to pier swim in Santa Cruz. That swim has been canceled more than once due to "Unusual marine life activity", Translated: Too many big sharks. I will not swim Santa Cruz.

It seems this is not an isolated incedent either, they have been reported in several states including some where they will not be killed off by a cold snap.

First of all, I work for myself. Second of all, the companies Romney took over were troubled companies to begin with. Some were saved, others went down, which was where they were going anyway.

Your ad hominem attacks and name calling is classic for libbies who can't make an argument. I'm still waiting for the race card, I know it's coming.

Actually if you have ever owned them and kept them in a tank with other cichlids that you fed live food to, you would also know they can be quite efficient predators. They are omnivores when necessary. They are also close relatives of the piranha. But like the piranha, they won't overwinter in North American waters.
