Our founding fathers approved of us owning guns, for protection and other things. They felt we were more advantaged than others. Do you agree?

Here is a quote from the Federalist Papers...
"Besides the advantage of being armed, which the
Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the
existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached
and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against
the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a
simple government of any form can admit of." --James Madison, Federalist
No. 46, 1788

The intent of the 2nd amendment is to maintain "A Well Regulated Militia" If you're part of a regulated ,militia, military reserve, active military or retired - then fine; have as many guns as you want.

Incidentally, all of the guns of the style that were available at the time of the writing of the Constitution are available to anyone without restriction, limitation or DOJ background checks.

I agree. In this day and age of terrorism and whack jobs, it is wise for a person to think in terms of self protection. I have been armed for years and have never had to respond to anything that required me to use my weapon. Maybe I am just lucky or maybe it is because I appear armed...
