After kicking butt on losers who would dare to fly our flag uspide down here is a post that you will not be kicked off from.

It is inexcusable to do such a thing as a matter of political protest(!

(Only a low life Nazi would do such a thing! Only a quitter would do such a thing! Only a loser would do such a thing!)

The Flag Code states, "The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property." It is an unreasonable stretch to argue that the political purposes constitute "dire distress." Clearly this was intended as a call for immediate emergency assistance. We recommend that people who wish to express their political views find a way to do so that is respectful of the flag. Remember that to some the flag represents the government of the US and its policies; but it also represents the sacrifices made in all generations to protect our freedoms. It represents the promise of the Declaration. It represents our freedom of speech and our freedom to practice or not practice religion as we choose. It represents one nation in its strength and glory. It represents faith in a better future. We recommend that you show your respect for the country and for the flag and make your political views known in other ways. It is not illegal, it is disrespectful to the memory of those who gave their lives protecting your freedom to protest.

I used this answer because there was none that was good to use. Flying the Flag upside down is a statement of extreme duress. It should never be used in a political forum, as politicians are not with us forever. Those that would fly it upside down should really research the reasons that it is considered ok to do so, then re-evaluate why they do it.

Does anyone realize the meaning of an upside down flag. Hanging a flag upside down is a sign of distress and should only be done if help is needed. The use of our flag as a political protest not only disgraces the flag, the country, but dishonors the memory of the men who gave their lives to protect the freedoms Americans seem to take for granted these days.

However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

(k)The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

Flags were flown upside down during the Bush presidency, so I see nothing wrong with it now.

An upside down flag is a sign of "distress" and after 3 years with this president, we are much more distressed than under Bush.

Every patriotic American that fears for our nations future should fly it upside down on memorial day.
