I think this is a "warm up" to taking out legitimate websites on Zero's order. Places like Drudge Report, Fox News, Sodahead, Facebook, and some of the million or so sites that have no affection for comrade Obama.

I saw that news report. I never saw where all the goods ceased were fakes though. If I buy authorized goods on the open market in a quantity where I can resale them, make a profit and not peddle actual fakes am I in violation? I think shutting down fraudsters and those who would basically steal from unsuspecting consumers should be shut down? But if illegal merchandise is getting into the country, why is it not stopped at the border? Oh, that's because we have an open borders mentality. If it is being manufactured here, then why? There is licensing and regulations that should stop that )regulators falling down on the job again?). Then I have to wonder, they can't seem to control or track guns they selling to Mexican Carters, but track down every one of these characters? Something is really screwy here.

The goods are mostly made overseas, Rodney. Textile trade went a long time ago. Very few remain here. But I agree with your assessment.

The rule of law, apparently, doesn't apply in this case. I wonder why they needed SOPA and PIPA if they're going to take down whatever they want anyway.

Counterfeit merchandise has always been seized when found , that is nothing new.
The siezing of domains on a presumption of guilt is chilling . Considering the Laws they have been trying to press through.

"Visitors to these websites will then find a seizure banner that notifies them that the domain name has been seized by federal authorities and educates them that willful copyright infringement is a federal crime."

This is where Ice water hits the veins , first the came for the counterfeiters, Then the came for the Domains , Then they will come for those who down load internet content . Next they will come for you for sharing News that they didn't want dispersed .

In these upside down logic times we are living in through the current administration, this is also my concern. Remember the Fairness Doctrine? Even Newt Gingrich was in favor of it at one time. I pray it will not raise its ugly head again!

I have the sensation that the siezing of the domains for streaming video and the prosecutions that are to follow are the Incarnation of SOPA and PIPA that could not get past congress. ( find a way around congress , find a way around the constitution )

The pres has as much as said that he will circumvent congress. It is expected that the misdemeanor will be upgraded to a felony charge. We don't have the money to incarcerate everyone found guilty. Prisons are already overcrowded. Of course this admin would have you let go the worst elements and lock up the non-violent ones.

libby it was the nfl that claimed the sites were selling counterfiet products. all they had to do to re-open was prove that they did not do what the nfl claimed. notice how not a single one of those sites have reported that they have filed papers with any court. strange how that is unless they were breaking the law.

i offer the facts and the lib blocked me. but when do libs ever care about facts

The fact that they are able to take done and control any site on the Internet that they want to (like what they're doing here) could lead to censorship.

Your comment reminds me of the fact that an investment counselor/broker always gets paid, regardless of whether the advice given and taken makes one money. Whoever buys goods to sell had better be sure that they are legitimate to begin with. I suspect that those selling them and buying them both know based on the price and where they were purchased, whether they are dealing in counterfeit products.

I would say they knew, and the market for fakes is huge because America is a cheapskate nation. Americans want fakes, producers make fakes, and a new round of salesmen is lining up to get one hooked up to the other...

Ever been to a flea market? fake everything going on there.

I'm not a fan of flea markets, but in the link they do state that they have been raiding flea market and street vendor sales across the nation. Hmm! I wonder if they've been to Hawaii too! Nice paid vacation spot while conducting the NFL's business, I'd think. Anyway, the thought occurs to me that if the NFL had a budget line of goods - a cheaper quality, but still legitimate logo, would there be a market for counterfeit goods? Many people cannot afford to purchase the costlier products or even afford a ticket to see a game in person. Frankly, I think it's better to watch at home on TV - best seats in the house!

Yes there would be a marketfor a cheaper legitimate line, I am not a fan of flea markets either, I try to buy American which is getting harder by the day. I just see a lot of this stuff in my day to day travels.

Yes, you could be onto something, my friend. Since they are using a practice as done in the UK where you are presumed guilty until you prove your innocence, our freedom is in question. Thanks for the comment.
