President Obama's campaign has released its latest radio ad, the first ad of the campaign specifically to target black voters.

“Four years ago we made history,” the voiceover in the ad states. “Now it’s time to move forward and finish what we started together. We have to show the President we have his back.”

Snippets of the president's remarks are played throughout the ad, as well as a catchy R&B; tune with the chorus "we've got your back."

Listen to the 60-second spot here.

The Grio reports:

The Barack Obama re-election campaign Tuesday will air its first radio ad targeting African-Americans, campaign officials confirmed.

The 60-second ad, entitled “We’ve Got Your Back,” appeals to black voters’ nostalgia about the election of the nation’s first African-American president, calling for those voters to stand with the president again in November. ...

The ads are being placed nationally by Fuse Advertising, an African-American owned agency based in St. Louis, Missouri, which also was contracted by the Obama campaign in 2008.

Here's the website the ad points listeners to: gottavote.org/.

It is wrong. If it were turned around a white guy targeting white voters there would be an outrage.

Not sure what there is to justify, this is an urban market ad that appeals to voters I know of all colors more than the typical ad that is geared toward the middle American demographic.

I find it hard to believe that the targeted audience doesn't see this as pure pandering. That they have larger problems and bigger issues than what he seems to think is of greatest importance. How about the unemployment rate being nearly double for Black Americans. obama out of office

The "targeted audience" knows very well who is responsible for the unemployment rate remaining high, and it isn't President Obama. When do the Republicans plan to vote on the American Jobs Act, by the way?

I've read it. The only conceivable reason anyone would oppose it is because President Obama proposed it. I think even if the President single handedly invented a completely free cure for all cancer you haters would accuse him of a secret plot to undermine the mortuary industry.

LOL Again. Not a hater a realist .Unlike 2008 he is now a proven entity and what's he's proven is nothing less than being a miserable failure, If you've read it as you claim with the slightest bit of fiscal knowledge and can add anything intellectually respectable Please do tell what is different than his previous attempts at playing venture capitalist with our tax payer dollars and those borrowed on the backs of generations to come?

The original stimulus, which just about every economist agrees was significantly smaller than it should have been (because President Obama was naive enough to try to compromise with the Republicans), has already resulted in about four million jobs created and a two point drop in the unemployment rate from the Bush highs. And as we've recently learned, Republican obstructionism and attacks on public sector jobs have prevented another full point drop in unemployment. As Franklin Roosevelt proved, the way to get the economy out of trouble is to spend money to create jobs. Austerity is driving Europe closer and closer to the cliff. As Calvin Coolidge, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush have all proved, tax cuts for the wealthy and denying services to the poor is a recipe for disaster. And now you folks on the Right want to try it yet again, with your candidate promising to lower taxes on the rich even more and lay off as many police officers, firefighters and teachers as he can. It just doesn't work.

Sometimes a retort as foolish as yours is beyond intellectual response because it's apparently beyond your conception.Obviously you are not a business owner nor have a portfolio worth protecting..Everything you've written is in complete denial of reality. All I can offer you is stop swallowing the BS and investigate the facts of just where we stand as a nation Follow governments and NOT media.would be a good start.

Republicans make ads catering to the White Right all the time, using code language like "loud tribesman" "foodstamp president", "he's not one of US" (aka:BLACK) so take this garbage somewhere else!

And not holding my breath, either. That's the problem, and always has been the problem: liberals get away with all sorts of innuendo; conservatives do not.

Really. You mean "food stamp President" doesn't mean "he cares more about poor black people than he does about us white folks"? And "not a real American" doesn't mean "even though the birthers have been thrown out of 93 different courts let's keep claiming the President was born in Kenya"?

All's fair in love, war, and politics; especially politics as a candidate for president if you want to get elected you have to be willing to do anything to get elected. As a guest speaker of my political science class who happens to be a republican senator had to say that "no ones willing to admit it but running a smear campaign and going negative wins elections" unless Obama is willing to do everything and anything to get elected Romney will be sitting in the White House.

But that IS the Republican campaign. That's why we hear things like "everyone on welfare is black". That's why they label the President as the "Food Stamp President". It's called the Southern Strategy. It was first used by Richard Nixon in 1968 after all of the racists bolted the Democratic party with the passage of the Civil Rights Act. The theory is that if you let the population know you won't lift a finger to help poor minorities, you will gain more votes from racists then you will lose from the people you offend. And sadly, it has worked numerous times.

Why not? A candidate's message is always "please vote for me". The President has demonstrated over the past few years that he is much more in tune with the needs of the black community than Governor Romney or any Republican is, and he is simply reminding them that if they elect Romney their needs will be neglected and their rights will be under attack. I hope that he makes similar reminders to the Hispanic community, to women, to gays, and to every other demographic that the President is better in tune with than Romney. If the Mormons want to vote for Romney because they think he will better address the needs of the Mormon community then that's their right.
