OHIO DEATH ROW INMATE SAYS HE'S TOO OBESE TO BE EXECUTED! Valid Point Or Lame Excuse?

The obese death row inmate makes a valid point.
This is a lame excuse from the fat dude to avoid that pesky needle.

condemned Ohio inmate who weighs 480 pounds and has a history of difficulty losing weight argues that he would face a "torturous and lingering death" if he's executed as scheduled on January 16, 2013. Ronald Post, who shot and killed a hotel clerk 29 years ago, said his weight, vein access, depression, scar tissue and other medical issues raise the likelihood that his executioners would encounter severe problems. He's also so big that the execution gurney might not hold him, lawyers for Post said in papers filed in federal court. "Indeed, given his unique physical/medical condition, there is substantial risk that any attempt to execute him would result in serious physical and psychological pain to him, according to the filing.

IS THIS A VALID POINT, OR IS THIS A LAME EXCUSE?

What the hell does his weight have to do with him being executed?

Perhaps, he should have considered the consequences 29 years ago when he killed the hotel clerk. Does he consider the pain and suffering he caused the person he killed, as well as the pain and suffering the surviving friends and family endured?

There was a case in Washington State where a man molested and killed two children, then killed their mother and another woman. He was sentenced to death. He, too, was obese. At that time, the method for execution was either lethal injection or, if lethal injection was not chosen, was defaulted to hanging--the original method of execution in the state. He refused to choose lethal injection, so his attorney tried to argue that hanging would decapitate him because of his size and would therefore be considered cruel and unusual punishment. Eventually is was ruled that he had a choice to choose lethal injection, so he couldn't argue. I can't help but feel that what he did to those little kids went beyond cruel and unusual, so any sentence he received was not as bad as the crime he committed.

I agree with you 1,000%. I cannot fathom WHY an appeals court would commute a death sentence to life in prison without parole after a condemned person's attorneys successfully argue that the execution would constitute cruel and unusual punishment. IMO, this is giving murderers more rights than their victims, and that's just plain wrong. Killers sure don't give a rat's hairy ass about the cruel and unusual punishment, or pain and suffering, or psychological trauma inflicted on their victims when they're murdering them. If someone commits a crime so heinous that the perpetrator is given the ultimate punishment, then the victims and their loved ones deserve to see justice done. It's a no-brainer. Thanks for your comments, Pele, and have a beautiful day!

I suggest a return to the days when prisoners were given nothing but daily rations of bread and water. Problem solved. Thanks for your response, 4dc, and have a wonderful weekend!

Have a doctor check it out. If there's medical proof, the like it or not, he has a constitutional right.

We all love our first and second amendment, but the 8th is just as valid.

His weight is a minor inconvenience at best.
But if he's really concerned, a bullet to the head is quick, painless and cheap.
Or, a length of good rope around his neck, would actually make his weight a *BENEFIT*!

Take his food away...bread and water...... if that is what it takes. Prison life is too easy it seems. The family of the victim has suffered since the murder.

I completely agree with you. Hell, since this lard-ass has been sitting on death row for almost 30 years, some of his victim's loved ones may not even still be alive to see justice done. Also, the courts and the prison have known for all this time that this obese scumbag's date with the Devil was approaching, so why wasn't he put on a diet sufficient to merely keep him alive until his execution, instead of letting him take up space and steal oxygen on death row while stuffing his face with Doritos, Twinkies and other junk food? The victim and her family members deserve justice, and if this creep suffers during his execution, so be it. In fact, the more pain and suffering, the better. Thanks for your response, Steve!

That's an excellent Idea! The prison could shave off enough of those unsightly, unwanted pounds to make him trim and fit by execution day. I guess it's too late in the game to, "CALL JENNY!" Thanks for your hilarious response, krayzrick!

Since this obese scumbag has been lounging around on death row for 29 years, the courts and/or prison officials knew that his day of reckoning was approaching, and he should have been put on bread and water rations a long time ago. Thanks for your response, sky blue pink!

Evidently so. Giving a murderous scumbag a stay of execution because of poor health is almost as ironic as putting a death row inmate on suicide watch. Go figure... Thanks for your response, Rusty!
