We give police officers a lot of power and respect, because they put their lives on the line everyday for us. But with this responsibility comes an obligation to not abuse it, or suffer the consequences.
So why is a police officer who raped a transsexual prostitute in the backseat of his car after he arrested her only guilty of a misdemeanor?
Former San Antonio police officer Craig Nash was sentenced this week to a year in jail for official oppression, according to the San Antonio Express-News. Nash, 39, picked up the victim off the streets and handcuffed her in the back of his patrol car. She was then forced to commit multiple sex acts, according to the story. A second transsexual prostitute came forward with similar sex allegations after the charges went public.
Nash pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor of official oppression after prosecutors said they would drop the second case. Authorities would not say why they would allow the former officer to plead to a lesser charge, except to say that the case was problematic. Nash was facing a possible felony charge that would have put him behind bars for life.
And, inexplicably, as part of the plea deal, Nash agreed not to seek a job as police officer in the state of Texas. Really? You think?

They might want to consider throwing his corpse into a gunny sack and burying him within the exercise compound. That would allow the prisoners 364 days of opportunity to urinate on the sorry sack of excrement. :-)
Sounds like the Good Old Boys Club strikes again.
Because he's totally not going to do it again.
But I can't blame him. Prisoner shaves are hawt.
that's most definitely not enough.
what a mockery of the justice system..
Oops! Now here come the haters and the GLAAD Nazis to tell me how terrible I am.
If you are selling something (in this case, a prostitute was selling sex) for $20.00 but someone steals it from you, it is considered petty theft. That is the case we were presented. If you are holding on to something that is pure and treasured it would be a different story. In this case the trauma wasn't the sex, it was the sex without getting paid.
I'll bet this one didn't get paid either
You put out, you get paid.
You put out, you get paid.
You put out, you get paid.
You put out, you don't get paid.
Scream Rape!
I fart in your general direction
This isn't a case of a prostitute not getting payment. This is rape. It's really sad that you don't know the difference.
