This local doctor has struck fear in many of the local woman in my town. One of my best friends was a patient of his and is having trouble sleeping at night. When they searched his home they found thousands of computer disks crammed full of pictures, he had many computers, and numerous digital cameras. The following is taken directly from KPLCTV.com (our local news channel)

A woman who filed a criminal complaint against Lake Charles obstetrician gynecologist Dr. Peter Lafuria told investigators that during an examination she saw the doctor take pictures of her without her permission. Sheriff Tony Mancuso told the media at an afternoon news conference, "Last Monday we had a victim come in who felt like she had had some inappropriate pictures taken of her and wanted to file a criminal complaint." Search warrants were executed on Lafuria's home, office and car. And while numerous images were seized along with cameras and computer equipment Mancuso admits many of those images may not be easily linked to specific women. "So far the majority of the pictures that have been viewed by detectives are unidentifiable."
However he says some images may allow the identification of other potential victims. "We do have some photographs that are identifiable and there is an office worker in that particular office that has agreed to cooperate with us and help us to identify the pictures. In fact that will probably bring more victims to us."
After an arrest warrant was issued Monday morning Lafuria was allowed to turn himself in at the Calcasieu Jail where he was booked on one count of video voyeurism. Mancuso says the investigation is likely to take at least a couple of months. "We have hundreds of disks and cd's. Each one of those contain hundreds of pictures on them."
After being finger printed, photographed and processed at the jail, Lafuria was released on 25-thousand dollars bond. His attorney Glen Vamvoras says they are cooperating fully with investigators. "We certainly don't want to convict anyone before the investigation is complete. And we think that when it's over that all of this is going to turn out fine for Dr. Lafuria." Reporter: "So, to what extent are you saying he did nothing wrong." Vamvoras: "I'm saying right now that he did nothing wrong."
For now Vamvoras says Lafuria will not practice medicine. "We made an agreement that we would not see any other patients and would suspend his practice while this investigation is ongoing." Vamvoras has advised his client not to talk about the allegations.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Dr. Peter LaFuria is now being charged with an additional 55 counts of video voyeurism. Former patients spoke with CPSO detectives and identified themselves in patient pictures seized from LaFuria. Detectives have also learned Dr. LaFuria is currently in a medical facility outside Louisiana. The Sheriff's Office has been in contact with Judge Canaday and he will be making arrangements for LaFuria to turn himself in to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. Judge Canaday has set LaFuria's bond at $245,000 and more charges are expected to be forthcoming.

Where is Dr. LaFuria? Right now he's in a treatment center. OracleBrad 2007/06/15 17:07:01A prison sentence for each woman he has violated+5Maybe he should have the camera shoved up his... well, you get the picture. That's absolutely inexcusable behavior. Whether you're a man or a woman, when you're seeking medical treatment, you're in a vulnerable state and need to feel that your doctor won't violate your trust.

I'm not God and shouldn't judge, I know, but his own pictures prove the charges. He's a total idiot for putting himself in the pictures never mind being a sick perv.
I do feel terrible for his children. They are not guilty and must have suffered terribly.
I voted undecided because before he goes into prison I think they should put him in an empty room with just 10 of the women he's hurt for about and hour-that's justice...lol!
Now be a man, step up to the plate and APOLOGIZE.
Especially to to chilton.
Some "sense of humor"; guess you thought 9/11 was a real blast%**@!
chilton isn't laughing...have someone with a functioning brain and sense of decency explain it to you.
This poll isn't even three days old.
I happen to be the person who alerted her to it yesterday.
Both of her posts on this poll came ONE day ago; reread them, Fredo. She is far and away not "cool" with you.
Care to retract your lies?
I repeat, a MAN would have apologized.
gives some of us a lot of things that hurt.....so you make fun of it to control that which you have no control over......
Finally, what makes him tolerable (lol) is that he takes up for underdogs and has a strong sense of justice (my perception)...not bad qualities in a person.......
There've been several times I've told him what to do and could have said.."Lady, shut up". but he didn't....not bad qualities in a man! Thank you for caring enough to defend me. My comments weren't because he hurt ME..but because I was afraid another victim of video voyeurism would read it, not be able to laugh that day, and feel bad about the way he spoke....today I can laugh. This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad!
Psalms, I believe.
Let's laugh about the bad things that happen in our lives when we can...there will be plenty of times we can't laugh.
you left out he's agnostic, self centered, rude but cute as a Mother F@#$%ER
I felt like I was reading my obituary but thanks..lol
Even though you may be OK, he could be offending other women out there, and that's not OK. By now, brady969 has to know that his "I think incest..." remark was over the line.
This morning I see his earlier responses to me have now been "deleted by request". hmmm...
Only because of what you have just said, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe this is the best he can do in the way of an apology.
Peace.
I think it's good to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. As far as the 'deleted by request', that was at MY request! I was oblivious to the tempest on this poll until Brady969 emailed me and gave me a heads-up. He kindly removed his comments about this topic and me because I was upset at the direction the debate was taking. The poller has also expressed her concern by email and IM about the possibilty of deleting the poll. Her intention was to educate women outside of our town so I feel it should stay up.
He has yet to apologize, however! I think actions do speak louder than words-and he acted with honor in this case.Peace to you!
