Obama's stimulus package of $787 billion passed without any congressman reading the entire bill. Is this acceptable or not?

The 1,071 page measure -- eight inches thick -- was posted on an overburdened congressional Web site late Thursday, giving lawmakers just a few overnight hours to read it before debate resumed in both the House and Senate Friday morning. Just on Tuesday, the House voted unanimously to recommend that lawmakers and the public have at least 48 hours to read the legislation before a vote.

Yep and they slipped major GUN CONTROL legislation into the bill. Knowing damn good and well it would get the ire of the American people up if it was brought to light prior. Now it's signed into law and came in under the radar.

Exactly right Hammer. B.O. is smart. And I have had thoughts in the past that I thought were crazy, like he was truly the Manchurian Candidate.....Now, I'm beginning to believe it. I'm beginning to hedge bets on the passing of the "fairness doctrine", and more (what I previously thought of as crazy) legislation. And just think of the loss of freedom that would come with their new idea of putting monitors in all of our cars so that they can tell exactly where we've driven and when (of course in the name of taxing our mileage)....

Since the final text of the bill wasn't read in its entirety by our representatives, this is a clear case of taxation without representation. The fact that it was committed by those same elected representatives is reprehensible! This should be remembered during the next election cycles, and any elected representative that voted FOR or AGAINST this bill without reading the whole thing should be voted out of office by a landslide.

Elected representatives not fully reading what they are voting into law or voting against becoming law should not be acceptable to ANY citizen of this country, regardless of which party you belong to.

Perhaps we should elect faster readers to Congress!

I read the entire bill on the Thomas.loc.gov website and had no problems whatsoever getting to it or reading it (other than staying awake for long segments of legalese!)

Seeing that this is a Faux news source I suspect they hunted for GOP Representatives willing to say they didn't have time to read it; perhaps because they simply didn't want to be bothered or were put on the spot to address a specific aspect of the bill that they hadn't read.

I would support at least 48 hours notice before voting since it is obvious some in Congress are a wee bit slow.

actually he has a point if you can get past his passion.

He has a point. Something needs to be done, but being privy to the government, i do know that there are things that happen the govt keeps from the people. ' You want the truth. You can't handle the truth.' Seriously, torture is a fine line. Not saying it's acceptable...but, if I was in a room, and I knew SUSPECT: SlimJim was about to kill thousands, if not millions...(think about that for a sec...) ...I am not sure how i'd act. BUT...that doesn't justify what they did. SO I do see your point...

According to your graph 38% believe it is wrong, 24% believe it is a case by case basis and doesn't feel it warrants a criminal investigation, 34% believe that "torture" would have been applied correctly, and 3% probably waved their penis towards the crowd. Seriously dude, crack is bad and so is believing everything people tell you, especially if they're in a cult. Everything is not in black and white. And despite what all the people in your magical fantasy say, you are not the chosen one so give it a break.

So.. I'm a little confused here, are you saying that I'm black? Assumptions are a symptom of arrogance, and you my friend are as misinformed as they come.
Someone's genetic history and ancestory have no bearing whatsoever on a person's personal spiritual journey. You, I am sure, have been diluted over the generations of your "holy" nucleiotides. In case you didn't know there are only 4 nucleic bases present in DNA. The next time you try proving some BS racial superiority rant, evaluate your opponent, a med student is not someone to throw some half-ass retarded lies about biology.
So a man of 38 who lives a delusional life knows more of life than a 24 year old that has seen and done things that you could only dream of? Please, I'm not spouting off some BS about being the "holy chosen one." When you get off your high horse maybe you can finally see the true perspective of things.

Well he claims to be inbred. I doubt that he even reads the bible, he just spews out random verses and hopes that they make sense. I doubt that he has a wife as he his a closeted homosexual, but if he does I feel sorry for her. Children... I'm sure the state has already taken them away in the last raid.
