Does Democrat Cronyism know no bounds? Is this another reason the Democrat-led Congress (a.k.a. Pelosi's 2nd Politburo) can no longer be trusted?

Folks, I can't make this stuff up. I'd venture to say, Hollywood couldn't even make this stuff up!

From the new 1990 page House bill, Affordable Health Care for America Act 2009

http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/111_ahcaa.pdf
page 145:

SEC. 256. TREATMENT OF HAWAII PREPAID HEALTH CARE ACT.

(a) IN GENERAL.—Subject to this section—

(1) nothing in this division (or an amendment made by this division) shall be construed to modify
or limit the application of the exemption for the Hawaii Prepaid Health Care Act (Haw. Rev. Stat. §§16 393–1 et seq.) as provided for under section 514(b)(5) of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (29 U.S.C. 1144(b)(5)), and such exemption shall also apply with respect to the provisions of this division; and

(2) for purposes of this division (and the amendments made by this division), coverage provided pursuant to the Hawaii Prepaid Health Care Act shall be treated as a qualified health benefits plan providing acceptable coverage so long as the Secretary of Labor determines that such coverage for employees (taking into account the benefits and the cost to employees for such benefits) is substantially equivalent to or greater than the coverage provided for employees pursuant to the essential benefits package.

(b) COORDINATION WITH STATE LAW OF HAWAII.—
The Commissioner shall, based on ongoing consultation with the appropriate officials of the State of Hawaii, make adjustments to rules and regulations of the Commissioner under this division as may be necessary, as determined by the Commissioner, to most effectively coordinate the provisions of this division with the provisions of the Hawaii Prepaid Health Care Act, taking into account any changes made from time to time to the Hawaii Prepaid Health Care Act and related laws of such State.

Makes sense why : Hawaiian officials are building a monument to Obama’s birth
---> Hawaii’s state legislators are lining up a string of new holidays, parks and memorials to honor Barack Obama, the first American president to claim the state as his home – though commemorating his birthplace may prove difficult.

---> Senate President Coleen Hanabusa wants Aug. 4 to be a state holiday commemorating Obama’s birthday, reports the Honolulu Advertiser; and State Rep. Della Au Belatti is pressing for Obama’s inauguration day, Jan. 20, to be memorialized in Hawaii as Barack Obama II Ohana Day.

hawaii already has universal health insurance. every employee is insured. the employer flips the bill. that is one reason why wages are so low.

i was insured with kaiser permamente hawaii hmo. it wasn't the best. doctors got bonuses for not issuing medication to the sick.

this is why i'm against obamacare. it is hawaii universal hmo on a grander scale.

I would think this is due to the political clout of Senator Inouye, effectively the senior US Senator, with the passing of Sen. Kennedy, and the illness of Sen. Byrd... also, I assume that some quid pro quo has been arranged, to keep Pres. Obama's birth certificate buried, and beyond review.

Although nominally a state, Hawaii effectively functions as a semi-sovereign entity. A one-party political system, where the ruling elite are almost never indited by the US Attorney, and they and the public sector unions are free to do as they will.
