Obamacare mandate: 15 year old girls can now get sterilized for free without letting parents know or getting parental consent. Yay or nay?

Some things need to be thought out more and I doubt that a 15yo can reasonably make that choice. So much more to life: why close a door now?

Obama's mother should have been on BC or sterilized. The Father, whoever the hell he was, should have had a vasectomy. Anyway, your Oblather and Piglosi are today's Margaret Sangers.

Any type of procedure could end up dangerous to the minor.

It a cost cutting move to avoid paying for pregnancies and abortions. Parents are still responsible for the children, not the government.

If a woman wants to get sterilized she should at least be of an age to make an intelligent decision as she may decide she wants children later and it could be irreversible. At 15 they think they know everything but they don't look ahead. Sorry girls you don't know everything!

There are way too many problems in this country caused by parents not being involved in their kids lives and taking decisions away from parents and yet still making them accountable for their children's action in some regards is tantamount to insanity. The Government being involved in medical care is a bad idea trust me I get medical care from the VA and wouldn't say that it is the most efficient medical program in the country.

Plus many socialist countries; Germany for instance was not above sterilization of some members of its population in order to maintain certain aspects of its society, funny how no one in the government thought it was a good idea to put in an age for the procedure. This type of thing could be used by juvenile homes and other such facilities, since most places just put papers in front of these kids and tell them to "sign here". Bad policy.

I really, really wish there was an Undecided/Other option. I think different birth control methods are a basic right but this is something so permanent and a lot of people change their mind about this type of thing. A year ago, I was COMPLETELY, TOTALLY opposed to the idea of kids. Now, most of the time, I still don't want one but I think about the good parts of it, too. And this is in one year's time. Who knows where I'm gonna stand on the issue in 5 years or 10 years?
Yes, some people stay the same in their views and opinions, but this is a major life decision and I think most peoples' minds will fluctuate on the issue.
But there are so many effective but less permanent methods of birth control. I think it would be better to opt for those.

I never heard of such a thing. Birth control and even abortions at 16 I have heard of but nothing like this.

Most 15 year olds are NOT afraid of getting pregnant? I'm terrified of it and, yes there are exceptions, but most girls don't want to be having kids at this age.

15 is far too young to face such a traumatic situation. Unless it would unduly expose the teenager to harm, the parents should be involved.
