"Obamacare" Is A Major Tax Cut For Middle Class Families

ProudProgressive 2012/07/06 13:34:45
In the wake of the Supreme Court's decision upholding the constitutionality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, the Right Wing Media has been working overtime trying to spin the acts provisions into "the largest tax increase in history", when not only is the penalty provision in the Act not a tax, and not only will it only apply to about 2% of the population, but overall the Act represents the largest middle class tax CUT in American history.

Right Wingers never do allow reality to interfere with their destructiveness, do they?

Article excerpt follows:

Obamacare Is A Major Tax Cut For Middle Class Families | Following the Supreme Court’s Affordable Care Act ruling, Republicans — including Mitt Romney — have vigorously insisted that the Affordable Care Act is a tax on the American people. But instead of being a tax increase, Obamacare will provide millions of families with large tax credits to make health care more affordable. Only about 1 percent of Americans who could afford health care but don’t buy coverage would have to pay the tax, and the penalty would only be an average of $600. The Center for American Progress shows how Obamacare is actually a major tax cut for many families:

Of course it's a tax cut for the middle class. Most rational thinking Americans already know this.

Thanks again PP. Bottom line is the ACA is constitutional, whether its a mandate or a tax on those who don't buy a policy... If only our ignorant friends on the right could comprehend more then one sentence..

I already talked to my CPA, and yes its a huge tax increase not a cut! I'm a middle class business owner as well and I will probably have to fire some people because of Obama’s stupidity!
My wife and I are also in the high risk pool and now we will be forced to pay an extra tax and have to buy insurance for us that we can't afford! I still say its unconstitutional to force me to buy health insurance...and liberals please don’t bring up car insurance because if you don’t want to pay car insurance then don’t buy a car, to not have this health insurance you either need to leave the USA or die!

it is NOT a tax cut. My mom is an income tax accountant with a masters in mathematics. We analyzed the situation. My taxes will increase by over 10% and I'm middle class.

0nly 2% huh? Kinda makes ya wonder if we need that shyt in the first place eh? Weren't these 2% the folks that were making it expensive for the rest of us? We never saw any evidence of this while they were craming this crap down our throats, and you can't show it now.

Proud I am going to take a different stance here, let's call it the "nut stance".

If we assume all of your numbers are right, if we assume that bias has not interfered with the math, etc... What gives the government, or anyone at all, tell me I must purchase a product? Don't I have the right to spend the money I make anyway I please? I do not believe it is anyone else's job to force me to live their way, and if the law was "all Americans must purchase and keep a firearm, or face a tax penalty. I would be fighting just as hard for the peoples right to think and decide for themselves, no matter how stupid the decision.

    Sad!!!!!

American education is failing this nation. It's the only explanation I can come up with to explain why people believe it when liberals tell us that their hidden tax increase on people is actually a tax cut, because it's the employer that's paying for it.

First off, in order to get the "tax credit" you need to first spend the money, which means that it puts you at an increased financial burden for the year. You also don't get back more than you paid in and so it's not an increase in available funds.

Second the roughly 4 million mark is assuming that somehow 16 million middle class Americans who currently can not afford insurance somehow will get it anyway. This is not a tax cut; it is a tax hike.

Obama swore no new taxes on those making less than $250K a year. His administration is still lying by saying it's not a tax. Give it up.

Oh it also excludes taxes on items such as all medical devices which will effect you regardless of your income plus another half dozen or so taxes.

Wow, I thought you were just misguided in your political ideology. Now you have proven you lack the intelligence to think. Thank you, I can't believe think progress holds the opinion that the American people are stupid enough to believe this steaming pile of dung you posted. But then again they were stupid enough to elect Obama.

Please let us start with simple math, since it is obvious you cannot think beyond the first grade.
Average cost of a family insurance policy from 2011 data

$15,073-$5,210=$9,863 INCREASE COST, on the average family that does not currently have insurance

    From the Kaiser Foundation
"The Kaiser Family Foundation reported this week that the average health insurance premium for a family rose to $15,073 in 2011. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, more than 7 million Americans don't even earn $15,000 a year.

Not true. You are trying to justify what your establishment has done to it's less fortunate since you claim to be the party that cares for them. Your actions show the facts! You are just trying to polish a turd. It's middle class families whose combined annual income is around $100,000 who WILL be crushed under this plan. After income taxes, they'll be spending almost a quarter of their net income for health insurance! Thank god it is only my husband and I. If we had kids I would be a wreck. How are those families going to afford this mandatory insurance?

This is nothing but a chart that thousands of think companies make up okay, it means nothing to me, the proof will be after this thing starts up and we see how many people approve/disapprove of it. Also the companies that make these charts, I don't know if they are being paid by that party or not? There's all kind of favoritism out there these days.
