John McCain's tax proposal would have given tax cuts to all Americans, but now we are all going to be subjected to Barack Obama's tax plan. John McCain's tax cuts would have gotten bigger as you moved up the income ladder, giving all Americans an incentive to better themselves. Obama's tax plan, on the hand, gives tax cuts that shrink with increasing income and even goes so far as to increase taxes on the wealthiest families.

When you consider all of the policies that Barack Obama has proposed, you have to wonder whether he can even give anyone tax cuts and still fund his policies. The more likely scenario is that Obama will be unable to fulfill at least one end of that seesaw. Are you ready to see your hard-earned tax dollars go to people who make less than you?

+8dose not go far enough to pay the bills. The Rich 10% needs to pay for what they get. Right now the tax system is like the top 10% gets prime rib and pays for baloney and the rest of the nation gets baloney and pays for prime rib.

The wealthiest among us will pay higher taxes under Obama than they have under Bush or would have under McCain [and about time]. Most of us will pay lower taxes under Obama than we have been paying over the last 8 years. Just wait and see. . . .
Why don't we all quit our jobs and accept government checks? There's no reason to keep sitting in my office- what a waste!
It sickens me that this jackass was elected by unemployed 18-24 year olds. Oh and people on government assistance. O well, the sooner this country gets run to the ground the better.

We've always had a progressive tax scheme. People who make more money should pay more taxes. Duh.
People please stop with the whole 'welfare' thing. 95% of WORKERS will get tax cuts. People in the lowest income levels still pay PAYROLL TAXES if they are part of the working poor, and their PAYROLL taxes will be lowered. Just because people misspoke on the campaign trail doesn't' change the facts - "no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase". That is verbatim from his website. Try and listen to what the man actually says or go to his many websites outlining his plans for the nation, it's very interesting and quite thorough, and stop regurgitating republican talking points. Yes I mean you BBill.....

And oh no he's going to let the Bush tax cuts expire!!! That means earners in the two top tax brackets will have their tax rate go up by 2%!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! All those poor, poor billionaires will have to actually pay a little more. Poor things, my heart just breaks for them.

When a straight percentage tax occurs, it hits the poor the hardest.

This includes helping us face the financial crisis that is upon us. It would have been disasterous if this crisis fell into the hands of Bush/Cheney. Fortunately, the crisis occurred in the final weaks of their lame duck regime. Anyone would be better than Bush in this situation, including McCain. However, as a tax payer, the reduction in my personal tax burden that I will enjoy under the incoming administration, is something that I look forward to. Thanks to Bush and the wealthy corporate interests, many Americans have been taking a big hit in their paychecks. Many have lost their paychecks completely -- not just in the last few months, but also during the earlier Bush 43 job-recession from 2002 - 2004.

If, it turns out, that the tax cuts are delayed or if it turns out that Congress or other forces block the new President's plans, I know that Mr. Obama will be open about it and not be afraid to explain it in a truthful way.
As an American, I'm proud to pay the taxes that help build our country, provide needed services, and build our infrastructure.
You remind me of so many Germans, Poles, etc. etc. who were proud to be anti-semitic before and during WWII. We all see how well their pride served them.
