Obama Threatens to Veto Defense Bill Unless It Hikes Healthcare Fees for Service Members
“The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation,” the White House wrote in an official policy statement expressing opposition to the bill, which the House approved in May.
President Obama’s most recent budget proposal includes billions of dollars in higher fees for members of TRICARE, the military health care system, and is part of the administration’s plan to cut nearly $500 billion from the Pentagon’s budget.
Some fear the administration’s proposal is an effort to increase enrollment in the state-run insurance exchanges mandated under the president’s controversial health care law.
The administration urged the House to “reconsider” to fee increase, arguing they are “essential for DOD to successfully address rising personnel costs.”

“Documents released in a classic Friday afternoon news dump show that labor unions representing 543,812 workers received waivers from President Barack Obama‘s signature legislation,” writes Paul Conner of the Daily Caller. “By contrast, private employers with a total of 69,813 employees, many of whom work for small businesses, were granted waivers.”
Because of the backlash over the waivers, HHS announced last summer that it would stop accepting applications for one-year waivers and would simply grant or deny waivers all the way through the end of 2013, according to The Hill.
Of the 204 new Obamacare waivers President Barack Obama’s administration approved in April, 38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Northern California district.
That’s in addition to the 27 new waivers for health care or drug companies and the 31 new union waivers Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services approved.

Other common waiver recipients were labor union chapters, large corporations, financial firms and local governments. But Pelosi’s district’s waivers are the first major examples of luxurious, gourmet restaurants and hotels getting a year-long pass from Obamacare.
For instance, Boboquivari’s restaurant in Pelosi’s district in San Francisco got a waiver from Obamacare. Boboquivari’s advertises $59 porterhouse steaks, $39 filet mignons and $35 crab dinners

Obama could walk into a room filled with basic trainees from any branch of the US armed forces and still be the LEAST QUALIFIED person in the room.
I would however vote for his son the Senator. The people of Kentucky are lucky to have him.
Pure malarkey.
According to RP, 9/11 was America's fault. RP is a charter member of the Blame America First crowds. I vehemently disagree.
RP is way too isolationist for me.
RP is not saying that 9/11 was our own fault. He is saying that most of the hatred of the USA is due to our own clumsy and destructive meddling in other countries. And most of that has been because of oil. If the USA becomes energy independent and gets out of those countries affairs (if it's not too late by now) things would simmer down, there would be more American jobs and a stronger American economy.
Under JFK the mission of our military changed from defense of the USA to world police force and builder of American like democracies. That has failed 100% of the time, costing trillions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of US lives. RP says to get back to the correct military mission and close all those bases in Japan, Korea, Germany, Great Briton, etc. Let those nations be responsible for their own defenses. That would save trillions of dollars that could be spent on the American economy.
He is also correct about auditing the Federal Reserve. The Fed was responsible for the 1929 crash and played a large part in the 2008 economic disaster. Do away with the Fed.
He is also correct in wanting to eliminate 5 Federal Agencies entirely and bring those powers back to the States.
You clearly don't understand RP and his positions.
Thank God they are there.
Take the 30,000 Americans off the border between North and South Korea and put them on our southern border.
Take the 33,000 out of Japan and let Japan defend itself.
Germany has a strong economy. Let Germany take over the bases and defend itself.
Our foreign military bases make less sense today than the Maginot Line did in 1939.
However, take away our European and Asian defensive units and you will soon see military invasions of other types. Possibly even nuclear.
Remember that the German Generals pleaded with Eisenhower for a unified push against the Communists. These were not Nazis but the same people who tried to assassinate Hitler out of patriotism for Germany. Had Eisenhower and Truman agreed, the might never have been an all out Cold War in the first place. But I digress. Sorry.
The unconditional surrenders of Germany and Japan called for total disarmament, out of fear of either country starting WWIII.
Neither our bases in Germany nor in Japan serves any useful purpose in the security and defense of the USA today. Allow Germany and Japan to fully rearm and give them both the legitimate responsibilities they should have.
Let him Veto it - just one more way to get Romney elected.
Steal from the military, what a complete AH - he must go
