The Defense of Marriage Act is being challenged by Obama and his Justice Department. I have no issue with states making the decision about gay marriage. But trust me, Obama is angling to have Defense of Marriage tossed thereby forcing all states to recognize gay marriage.

Yes, and "other". Look, there are so few people today who even know what the Bible says about anything, least of all homosexuality. Add to that the fact that anyone under the age of 35 has been indoctrinated into the religion of moral relativism. Thankfully, not everyone buys it but the numbers of those who do is growing. We have all heard them, right? We speak out against sin and we get the usual "The Bible says judge not, you are judging, you are not a real Christian, you're a hypocrite!" But they fail to see that we are not judging, we are agreeing with a righteous judgement that has already been made. Apparently, the popular view of Christianity is acceptance of every crazy thing that anyone wants to do and giving it God's blessing. These people think that they define what Christianity is, not God, and they make up their own rules because the real rules are too uncomfortable for them.
Obama is pandering to these people by taking their side and making them feel special and worthy, ensuring that they and their family members will vote for him so he can continue the downward spiral of America unimpeded. I have said it before and I'll say it again, Obama is either a Muslim or an Atheist, but he is assuredly NOT a Christian by any standard even if he claims to be. I can claim I'm a toaster but I'm pretty sure that doesn't make it true.

Our churches are steeped in apostasy. Most Christians, even over the age of 35, do not know the Bible and their churches are into 'dog and pony' shows in order to draw crowds, as they WRONGLY assume that it is man's futile efforts that will bring them to the Church, rather than the power of the Holy Spirit. Every time I visit a church anymore, I feel such emptiness for the church and the congregants. They have turned into the "lukewarm" believers that God promised to "spew" out of His mouth. They don't even realize it, and THAT is a big, humongous problem!!

Also, most Christians, including the author of this thread, don't realize that Sodom & Gomorrah were NOT destroyed because of homosexuality, but because God could not find ONE "righteous" soul in either city. The only reason Abraham's nephew & daughters made it out alive is because they were related to a supergrace believer (Abraham). This was blessing by association. America is becoming more & more like S&G;, because the 'pivot' of spiritually mature believers is small and getting smaller, NOT because 3% of the population is 'gay'.

Christians don't even know that the personal sins of EVERYONE, past, present, and future, were paid for by Jesus Christ on the cross. That means that our personal sins are no longer an issue for salvation. The only issue is acceptance or rejection of Jesus Christ.

You sure said a mouthful there. It's hard to find a group of Christians that really have IT together. I find It sad that the best bible study is at home. I know that there must be a church out there somewhere where the Love of God is magnified. The question I have about S&G is--What would have happened if Lot would have continued the negotiations.

Lot had nothing to negotiate with, as even he was not "righteous". The only reason he & his daughters survived was because they received blessings by association (Abraham, Lot's uncle, was a supergrace believer).

Any believer who is positive toward Bible doctrine can find their right pastor-teacher to prepare them as God planned for it to be done. It's interesting that not ONE Christian on SodaHead has ever asked me about where I get my information about Bible doctrine. Why? Because they just don't care to know the Bible, that's why.

I'm sorry for my error in names. It wasn't Lot that negotiated, I should have said "Abraham continued the negotiations". But the question still is relevant. "What would have happened if ABRAHAM would have continued the negotiations."

Abraham could not have continued with the negotiations as he knew God's perfect justice MUST overrule His perfect love. There were no "righteous" people to be found in Sodom or Gomorrah, so what do you think Abraham would have used to negotiate?

My Bible doctrine comes from the original languages (Koine Greek, Hebrew & Aramaic), historical & archaeological texts, many translations and commentaries, & systematic theology. I'm an orthodox Christian (not a fundamentalist), non-denominational, doctrinal. My pastor-teacher was divinely selected for me, just as was my husband of 37 years. It is rare to find a church today who is not steeped in apostasy, so we (my family) must learn online. Since it doesn't matter to you, I will not give you the source in a public forum such as this, as I do not want my pastor-teacher to be inundated with nutjobs; however, if you should be interested in learning more about God, feel free to e-mail me & I will give you the URL.

I wholeheartedly agree. The homosexual issue is but a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. Unfortunately, we have lots of drops of all flavors in that quickly filling bucket, which makes it unpalatable. This particular issue is just the latest wrong to be raised up by the secular left, in the name of tolerance and shoved down our throats wrapped up in torn pages of the Bible. And yes, S&G were not destroyed specifically for homosexuality, but for the same thing we are experiencing right now, which as I mentioned before is moral relativism. It was apparently so widespread in Sodom and Gomorrah that no one was unaffected, thus, not even one righteous person. Accepting homosexuality as "okay with God" is a huge part of that. School kids today are constantly shamed into accepting all types of sin as being good and normal and it's being done by people who do not even believe in God yet use Jesus' words, twisted up and out of context to 'prove' what they say.
I read the Bible but I have not been to church in many years. I simply gave up looking for one that felt like the Holy Spirit lived there.

There are good doctrinal churches out there, and everyone must fine their right pastor-teacher. The problem we have, though, is that there are too few Christians who even care to know Bible doctrine. They go through the motions of reading the Bible (even though they can't understand it), go to a church heaped in apostasy maybe once a week, and believe they've done their "duty". Not one Christians on SodaHead has EVER asked me where I learn Bible doctrine, or that they are searching, but have not found anyone who teaches Christian orthodoxy.

My pastor-teacher is online, free of charge. There are no doctrinal churches that we can find in our neck of the woods, so we found one through the internet. There's really no excuse for abandoning God's protocol plan for each of our lives. If we really are positive toward His word, He will know and provide the teaching.

For the state of our country. Christians know that their rejection of Jesus Christ will not end well & will cause an eventual curse on the country. Unbelievers don't believe there is a God, so they don't know that His justice is real.
