Obama states today in his speech that "The Private Sector jobs are doing fine"?!?!?! Is he totally out of touch with reality?

    Greece doesn't have an independent monetary policy, which is most of the problem.

    The problem IS large centralized government and Socialism injected into a nations economic policies! Socialism has never worked and never will work. We are doing that here in the United States and the current Administration wants to double down on that ideology. We plan to stop them and burst their ideological bubble in November!

    {The problem IS large centralized government and Socialism injected into a nations economic policies!}

    Greece has one of the smallest governments in Europe. Their trouble is a lack of independent monetary policy, the Bush recession and Germany.

    Smallest governments in relationshipt to what? We're not talking about government based on a pure number, but versus the size of their population. We are not simply considering the number of "employees" or bureaocrats, but how many have become dependent on a check or on government regulation! Entitlements are a huge problem in Greece!

    {Smallest governments in relationshipt to what?}

    GDP. The Greek government revenue as a percentage of total GDP is small; 39%, compared to the EU average of 45%. The US' rate is 33%, but the US is an outlier, with the smallest government in the developed world.

    {Entitlements are a huge problem in Greece!}

    Nonsense. Germany is the key problem.

    Obviously, we disagree! You are in the minority! If our founders were alive and knew the size and power of the Federal Government, they'd begin another revolution!

    You may have your own opinions, not your own facts. Greece has a small government; the US an even smaller one.

    Both are way too big!
  • Lt. Fred Andrew 2012/06/13 00:09:44

    Nonsense. Both are far too small.

    If 33 and 38 percent of GDP in your eyes is too small, then you are either a Socialist or a Communist! Find a country that meets your standard and go there. Don't try to force us to be that stupid!

    Measuring government by size is dumb. The US government looks larger than it actually is, because a huge amount of money is wasted on defence or corporate welfare. There are a vast series of government roles that are either underfunded or not done at all. Take education- heavily underfunded.
  • Andrew Lt. Fred 2012/06/14 07:37:28
    Andrew
    Education, underfunded? You've got to be kidding! You have a very socialist view of the roll of government!
  • Lt. Fred Andrew 2012/06/14 10:39:49
    Lt. Fred
    Heavily underfunded. Also unequally funded.
  • Andrew Lt. Fred 2012/06/14 21:52:24
    Andrew
    I guess that's why teachers nationwide make above the average wage! That's why schools approve unwanted and unneeded expenditures that are made because they want eat automatic funding increase! If they don't spend it, they lose it!
  • Lt. Fred Andrew 2012/06/14 23:42:54
    Lt. Fred
    Teachers make far less money than an equivalently-qualified employed professional working the same hours with the same experience in different field. Also, American teachers are paid far less (comparatively) than they used to.

    The education system is heavily underfunded, hence the poor results. Also, it is heavily stacked against ethnic minorities, leading to poor results.
  • Andrew Lt. Fred 2012/06/15 07:23:00
    Andrew
    Poor results are the fault of teachers and teachers unions. Private schools with lower paid teachers do a better job educating children.
  • Lt. Fred Andrew 2012/06/15 07:52:51
    Lt. Fred
    Private schools with far more money per student do a better job educating children, when those children are already better-educated.
  • Andrew Lt. Fred 2012/06/15 20:01:01

    Many would dispute that, but I don't have time to waste on it!
  • Lt. Fred Andrew 2012/06/15 22:45:33
    Lt. Fred
    You don't get to dispute facts.
  • Andrew Lt. Fred 2012/06/16 14:32:51
    Andrew
    Parents educate children, not schools! Your interpretation of the facts are what is disputed, not the facts!
  • Lt. Fred Andrew 2012/06/17 03:26:14
    Lt. Fred
    Nonsense. The education system educates people. Parents act only in a secondary role, helping the education system do so.
  • Andrew Lt. Fred 2012/06/17 10:41:16
    Andrew
    Let me get this right! Systems educate people? Why do we need teachers? In a Constitutional Republic such as the United States, who is responsible for the education of the children? It sounds to me like you are for the huge state farms like they had in China, only they raise children, not rice. Just so you know, millions of Chinese people died in the "state farms" experiment under Mao and millions of American are experiencing the malnutritional "bloat" from our "system" you seem so love so dearly. There's a reason why America ranks 35th in the world in education! Every year we all further behind in math and science!

    But the fact that The Zero is living in his own little dream world doesn't make his statement untrue... for values of "truth" that include his unspoken mental reservation that makes the statement read, "Private sector jobs are doing fine (keeping Moochele and me wallowing in copious, lavish vacays and other unearned luxuries, and bringing in the bucks to pay off our cronies and... )."

    The job situation is bad, but not as bad as it has been, in our city people are working. Some people that I know changed the field that they were working in, and now they are gainfully employed. My youngest daughter worked two jobs, educated her son's and herself, now she has prospects of getting a position with a higher payscale. Her oldest son, who has graduated from Xavier, and now working and earning a decent salary, and he is helping his mother educate his younger brother. Sometimes you got to come outside of the box and do what you got to do. I'd rather have two Obama's than one Mitt Romney.
