Obama Smiles and Shakes Hands with Hugo Chavez

- Presidents Barack Obama and Hugo Chavez, Venezuela's socialist leader, met Friday and shook hands on the sidelines of a summit of their hemisphere's democracies.

Obama walked across a hotel meeting room to meet Chavez for the first time, said a senior U.S. administration official who witnessed it and spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the details of the event. The official said Obama initiated the encounter.

"We shook each other's hands like gentlemen, and it was predictable this would happen," Chavez said. ... Read full article »

I don't understand why president Obama would go out of his way to shake hands, smile and say "como estas?" to this dictator thug from Venezuela.

Chavez consider America the devil and the world's biggest menace. He denounces America, capitalism, and called former president Bush "the devil." Chavez condemns our ally, Israel and compares them to Hitler on Arab television.

President Obama could have learned something from Spanish King Juan Carlos I, who knows how to deal with thugs and demand some respect for our country.

BTW, Chavez harbors and supports the FARC guerillas of neighboring Colombia, one of the largest and most dangerous terrorist organizations in the world.

The only differance in Obama and Chavez is the language. I really believe deep down that Obama hates America and is tring to bring it down as far as he can. No American can say all the negative things about their country that this man has said and not have some deep seated hatred.

So you would rather we spit in the face of anyone YOU don't like because of what someone else told you?

There are unfortunately some negative things about the mentality and perception of this country. The first step towards righting such things is admitting they exist; if we want to be a truly great nation then we must be a catalyst for all nations.

We have a thing called diplomacy (tact). There are ways of acknowledging the faults of your country without destroying its fiber. You do have to spit on them nor do have to give the impression that you will give up your principles. I am tired of Obama talking about everything that is wrong with America after getting to were he is by using ALL the GOOD things in America.

Do you say an alcoholic is just a person who likes to party more than others? There are some things intrinsically flawed about this country that have come about over the course of many decades; you cannot ignore the fact that our system is currently broken. The thing that has to happen first is the identification of the problems; admitting they are there. Then we can go about the business of correcting those things. If we simply choose to ignore the bad and fail to acknowledge it, just say everything is rosy, then we are only fooling ourselves and it will take that much longer to pull ourselves out of the muck.

If he walked across the room to shake this Mussolini wannabe, he is a dolt. Running into him and not shaking hands would have been wrong but seeking him out is just plain stupid.
Chavez is a fascist from an insignificant country; we do not need to be pals with him.

Correct, and we REALLY do not need to make deals to buy more oil from him.

He owns Citgo, so please boycott all citgo stations-it just puts money in his pockets to support the hatred against us, whom he has sworn to destroy.

Check out what Maria Conchita Alonzo has to say about Chavez, she is from there and knows how evil he is.

    I think we're all a little crazy but ...

Our president will do anything to be loved/liked -- even collaborate with the enemy I'd wager! This sick man suffers psychologically as a result of being abandoned by his parents and, as a result, could be very dangerous in his many confusions.

Personally, I find our President is very childish in his response to criticisms, but is an expert at dishing it out.

Those who took a young impressionable Obama under their wing (Wright, Farrakhan, Rezko, etc.) has shaped his mind against the U.S. I truly believe President Obama is mentally ill in the worse way, and he reminds sooo many Americans of a smiling Hitler.

Seemingly, he 'punishes' those who don't adore him and ( I'd not be surprised) would order an invasion of privacy of those who disagree with his tactics. He has labelled those who do not adore him as 'the enemy' but protect the reputation of the Jihad via censorship. Seemingly, Obama underlyingly hates America.

I also believe he is 'punishing' America for Tea Party events by recently revealing USA's Top Secrets and insulting Cuba -- very childish behavior for a grown man, much less the President of the United States!

I believe I may have been targeted as a 'threat' (ME?) because I, thus far, find him untrustworhty because of HIS ...
