Obama Shows His Class by Stopping Supporters from Booing Romney's Patriotism
By: Jason Easley
June 26, 2012

President Obama showed his class today by not allowing the Atlanta audience for his remarks to boo Mitt Romney.

Transcript via the White House:

THE PRESIDENT: And in this election, all of you have the opportunity to choose between two fundamentally different visions of how you grow America — two fundamentally different visions about who we are as a people and what makes this nation great. On one side you've got Mr. Romney and his allies in Congress –

AUDIENCE: Booo –

THE PRESIDENT: Mr. Romney is a patriotic American. He's got a beautiful family. He's been very successful in his life. (Audience Laughter.) No, he has. But his basic vision is one in which if wealthy investors like him and folks at the very top are freed up from any kind of regulations, if they are maximizing their profits even if it means polluting more, or offshoring jobs, or avoiding taxes, or busting unions — whatever the strategies — if they're doing well then everybody else is automatically doing well. That's their view.

Unfortunately, Mitt Romney lacks any of the decency and character that Barack Obama has exhibited since he appeared on the national scene. Romney has refused to distance himself from birthers like Donald Trump, nut job pedophiles who threaten the president like Ted Nugent, and he won't even tell his supporters not to heckle the president.

(The fact that Romney supporters have to be told to respect the President of the United States is mind blowing enough.)

After years of endless conspiracy theories, allegations, and a torrent of never ending hate speech and propaganda directed at him no one would begrudge the president if got into the mud a little himself, but he never does. President Obama appears to always be aware of his place in history as the first African-American president. Beyond that as president, he understands the example that he is setting for all Americans.

Obama behaves like Americans consistently suggest they want a president to act. Barack Obama is a good family man who works hard, avoids scandal, and has never disrespected the presidency. Yet, all of these reasons are exactly why the right hates him. They can't stand the fact that this Democratic president does a better job of embodying the office that they view as their birthright.

Mitt Romney may have a private school education and unfathomable wealth, but he will never possess the character of Barack Obama. Money can buy a lot of things, but it can't buy basic human decency.

If character still means anything, voters will elect President Barack Obama to a second term.

    This article is complete bullcrap.
It is positioning and has no data or transcripts to back its claims about Romney.

A vote for Obama is a vote against liberty.

Obama is a multimillionaire and very a part of the 1%.

Having class is something lost on many politicians these days. Rave if you remember this classic McCain moment from 2008 defending Obama.

President Obama does have class. Obama is kind, intelligent, reasonable, does not hide women under his Oval Office desk, not a war monger, is a diplomat, great debater, has great background experience of life. On the contrary Mitt Romney is a whining cry baby, cannot say anything constructive, won't commit to any issue, uses ignorant slandering ads, has done nothing but slander President Obama through his whole campaign, cheats on his taxes, dodged Vietnam War, manipulating deferments, so another soldier died in his place. Mitt Romney is a spoiled rich brat.!

Maybe Palin should have taken a page out of this book when someone screamed "kill him" in reference to Obama at one of her rally's. Many Republicans live to stir up hatred and fear so it's great to see Obama showing class.

Mr. Obama has always been sensible and respectful. I'm grateful to have a president with such a commendable character. Mitt Romney, on the other hand... I don't think he is a bad man. However, he comes off as a bit weak-spined to me.

You are much to kind to Mitt Romney. Romney is not weak -spined when it comes to putting money into only his own pockets, cheating others. Romney even cheated his way out of the Vietnam War draft; yet Romney would as U.S. President start more wars, sending others to die.

As commander-in-chief and leader of this nation I expect the president to take the high-road and encourage tolerance and proper behavior. This is not class; it is part of being a leader.

President Obama has always been the one to do the right thing by the People of this country and ALWAYS a class act when it comes to politics. He has taught Mitt more then all the money he could ever spend with that lesson. And it was for free.

Now if ony the birthers, tea tards, and the GOP could pick up some class too from Obama.

I know I would have lost my cool a long time ago if all the stuff the President has had to deal with was flung at me. I think it is his personality to be calm like he is; I can’t picture him flying off the handle at anything, much less the press or the fright wing (no matter how deserving of it they are). It’s who he is.

Romney, who has the nerve to question the President’s leadership, will never say anything to the fright wing about their behavior. He will not come out and say unequivocally that the President is a citizen of the U.S. He wouldn’t even stand up to Rush Limbaugh when he attacked Sandra Fluke. All of the things he’s said show that he is the one lacking in leadership qualities. He cannot lead because even he doesn’t know where the heck he’s going.

It’s in the President’s character to walk softly and carry a big stick. As for Romney’s character, I can only ask: what character?

    Mitt Romney total jerk

Very nice of him to stifle the crowd on Romney's behalf for sure. But yes, let's vote him in on his character, especially his sense of humor for laughing about the "NOT SO SHOVEL READY JOBS" that he didn't have ready. 780bil in taxpayer dollars is just a joke to him, a man of great character. And we should reelect him to a second term on his character, because his policies stink and any new ones to come out in the next four years will have the same familiar stench.

sure it does, he doesn't respect me or the American people. If he did, he'd stop thumbing his nose in our faces with his nanny state lectures over nutrition, heathcare, racism, etc.. He'd open up his administration to the same scrutiny he advocated on the Bush administration. He'd secure our borders, not sue our states for attempting what he cannot or will not do, He'd stop the un-American deficit spending he accused Bush of doing, he'd stop is attack on the constitution, stop meddling in the private sector, and he'd quit lining the pockets and rewarding his cronies for their undaunting support. In short, his leeway for respect ran out about 2 years ago.

O.K. class and character are two things obama does not have. He's a self-centered, self-absorbed, deceitful, petty little ideologue. This smacks of the fainting ladies during his run in '08......................

Character still counts and for sake of argument let's say obama is full of it. After the dismal failure of his first term. Who but a mindless drone would want 4 more of the same.........
